I genuinely would love to just fly into the distance from P1…till I get to some clean lobbies. I try to race carefully. Over the last few days I have seen some great examples of people that try to give you space, or just move aside when they see me much faster. I really enjoyed racing one guy at Suzuka! So respectful and yes, this is where you can learn a race craft. But in most cases so far….I have seen a huge mess:-) So I try to avoid at all cost! Will do all I can to be as fast and as consistent I can be do avoid it:-))

Great tips from @mellofello9 , I can't stress enough the "not get mad" advice, never ever retaliate, it will never be worth it. This is something that took me too long to learn. If someone kills you, sends you to to last position 10 seconds behind the car ahead, breathe and start the chase, or try to do a fast lap, that will be it, better luck next time, is part of the game.

Also, while being p1 and escaping the mess is perfect, but for now I would recommend you to get into the group, this is where you will learn racecraft, a skill that will be crucial when you will start competing in B and A lobbies, and of course if you reach A+. Now is the time to learn how to position yourself in race and to predict what others will do etc.

That’s my jam!

What a rollercoaster was my weekend at Willow Springs. Like Roy Batty: "I've seen things that you, humans..."
I had few real take offs, like "Vooolaree ooh, ooh". I trashed last corner not so often, but when I did it, it was with style. I mean, from 9 to 15 sec loss. I didn't get any penalties for track limits in race (?!?), 3 for collisions. In all three cases I believe that lag has a lot to do with it. I needed to apologise for few punts also. Sometimes, even being an "early braker", I managed to hit the guy in front with enormous speed delta. I was just a passenger unable to take evasive actions to avoid the guy rather than killing him, but not getting penalised. 🤔
Long story short; I started racing Friday as DR A, demoted to B Sunday afternoon and climbed back to A before the beginning of the F1's gp. When climbing back to DR A, I ended up as "sole" B in A+/A lobbies. Saturday evening was the worst in terms of "aggressiveness", but it was overall a very good and fair racing mood all weekend. I can't name not even one "pink driver". It was my first week with just good greetings in pre-lobby. What about that? Thanks everybody out there for the amazing racing (some were from this forum and it's always a pleasure to meet and race with people you can trust). Willow btw is now my preferred track. It's pure old style hardcore tarmac and sand. "Guts" is needed, especially if you're in pole and the 2nd has that ridiculous tow from you on straights. I really hope that PD could take Willow in better consideration for the future, with also Gr.3 and some strategy, maybe. The only minus is that, now, I'll have to cope with the disappointment of not seeing Willow in a "Daylies" for a while.
Good to see you last week 👍 I really enjoyed B, though I've been a big fan of Willow Springs since GT Sport - wish it was used more!
Got back to A+ on both EU and US accounts, but dropped back to A on the EU one after a few bad results on Sunday - I blame beer.

Doing 2 jobs this week so likely won't be racing at all..

FINALLY, I have managed to improve my consistency at Tokyo Expressway at this DAILY Race B. I also did the Daily Race A and got 5th which was the OG GT racing with the Corolla Sprinters.

But in this race, this time it was a very good race, Started 2nd place and battled so hard to keep on my lead, acheiving a podium finish at 1st place on a Monday night of all days, very chuffed!

You can enjoy and watch my race below! I'll keep doing more later this week to get my DR rank even higher! LFG!!!

Ah, OK. Turns out I'm brain dead and don't read so good, thinking my Tokyo TT with the NSX Gr.3 was the World Record, when it was really a 1:59.370. Whew! I feel a lot better... couldn't figure out how I was losing over 4 seconds in my qualifying runs.. 😅

New Race B QT: NSX Gr.3 - 1:58.238

Slowly settling into a rhythm at Grand Valley.

New Race C QT: NSX Gr.4 - 2:00.990

Tried race A and yeah just couldn't do it, way too slow. Gave race B a lash and find myself reasonably on the pace in B/S rooms and then shoved into A/B splits. Managed a 57.5 but definately have a very low 57 in me if I don't mess it up so I think I can race A drivers with that.

The racing is weird as there's less of a pack than I was expecting and if you lose the tow it's all over so not the bedlam I thought. In saying that, too many guys are stupidly impatient as usual.

I think I can safely say I’m done with Tokyo, it might actually be that I’m done with gr3, I’m coming past too many racers with 100 online races behind them, putting you in the wall for passing, so I’m sticking with A until the weekend then I’m doing C, I figure that I’ll have had enough of A by then and C will be like my Monday and I can happily race mid pack with no expectation on myself,

Let’s see how this goes 😁

Drama rant over 🤣

I decided to do the opposite:-) I have suffered a lot in Tokyo yesterday, but I want to use the opportunity, learn the track better, get much-much faster and learn to anticipate things and avoid those that can destroy your race. It is a less pleasant experience, but could be an important one

So not naming and shaming but this brings back to the "be a better driver" posts from earlier. Probably one of the worst ends to a race I've had in a while. I think me and the Toyota had lag when I overtook at the hairpin and to him I booted him off.

So he then proceeded to hurl his car at me every chance he got and well, there's the results.

Hey everyone!

I’ve just completed three races today in Tokyo, and all three had similar patterns that I think are representative of what typically happens on this track. I’m still learning and really want to improve, so I’d love to get some advice from those of you with more experience.

I’ve uploaded a short 1-minute clip showing a specific moment, and I also included another video that highlights how some of the more aggressive battles unfold—particularly involving a yellow Lambo.

Here are the key things I’d appreciate your feedback on:

1. How do you lead a race effectively in Tokyo, knowing how powerful the slipstream is on the main straight?

Every time I’m in front, I feel like I’m a sitting duck when we hit that long straight. I’d love to hear strategies for managing this—whether it’s defensive lines, lift timing, or other techniques.

2. How can I avoid first-lap collisions like the one in the clip?

In the video, someone tries to overtake me into a corner from P5. It’s early, tight, and chaotic. I’m unsure if I could have positioned myself differently to avoid the contact, or if it was just bad luck.

3. How do you race cleanly and effectively against drivers like the yellow Lambo?

From the footage, you can see how aggressively some cars dive in or maintain unrealistic lines. At times it feels like they’re driving into you rather than trying to avoid contact. How do you deal with that kind of behavior while still staying competitive and clean?

Any advice—whether on racecraft, positioning, mindset, or specific techniques—is massively appreciated. I’m not trying to avoid these tough situations; I want to learn from them and handle them better next time.

Thanks in advance!

He's the kind of chap that should earn a week's ban for the repeated behaviour.

I wonder if rather than 5 second penalties, a 24h ban would be better for every incident

Feeling for you. It always sucks, when it goes this way. Report the guy. I usually report this kind of "retaliation's" moves. (euphemistically speaking) The guy was very nervous and surely on joypad (so it wasn't easy for him to keep up and he was already all over the places with his driving), otherwise he was also on wheel but under anfetamine based drugs effects.

I don´t know how to help because I feel the same way, I have a nice qualy lap, 1.56.4 (0.3 better that the TT) and that guarantees me a clean start, I always try to make a perfect and fast first left turn to create a gap, I don´t defend in Tokyo, just let them pass and wait for my oportunity. If you are 2nd or 3rd don´t try to overtake just "help bump" the car in front of you, so you create a gap with the rammers behind.

Yesterday I was P2 and the guy on P1 kiss the wall on first left turn, I could have passed him, instead I gave him a push so we created a gap until the docks.

On the pit hairpin if I predict a carnage I sacrfice the line and I stick to the right wall and do a slow U turn in 1st gear, If rammers come, that is the last spot they could get.

It also helps, in my case, that I think I am pretty fast and with a very good line in the last "Ss" section, very hard to follow me without hitting the wall.

Depending of gap with the cars behind I do the opposite, fast in-slow out, so they do not hit me.

Anyway every race is a lottery of circumtances and people.

Patience, the people is so anxious and dirty just for a P10 for example, they rammed me yesterday when I was 2nd, I was last with a great gap, I finnished on P7 because of the carnage ahead

Want to completely destroy your SR Rating? Great, go ahead and do race B on the Tokyo Expressway.

I've never seen such stupidity on a daily race. I have gone, in double quick time, from a very consistent S rated driver to a C! And it all started because some idiot, despite me being inside AND slightly ahead, decided to turn in on me resulting in him bouncing off into a barrier. Having been knocked off balance 3 other cars decide to be just as stupid causing complete mayhem in a smash fest of note.

The result, because of one idiot, is a HUGE penalty for me. Next race not much better and a similar situation. Trying to avoid trouble does nothing except entice more bad behaviour today. Group B drivers are, in my opinion, the dirtiest drivers out there. The more I tried to rectify my SR, the worse it got and being mixed with B & C SR drivers is just a joke.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother. PD is fast losing its shine for me - bad driving, boring weekly races, no imagination, no new tracks, only access to very old cars which are now so out of date its ridiculous. Such a shame.

When I turned on the Ps5 this morning and looked at the dailies I nearly turned it off again 🙈. Anyway, I did a bit of QT for race C in the G70 but I just do not like it at all. Decided to try the Atenza as I have never used it before. It's bloody good 👌. I have a bit more pace to find as I set a quicker lap in the race than I did in QT. My first wins on my main account in a very long time. It's getting a bit sweaty now so will call it quits while I'm ahead 😉View attachment 1454967View attachment 1454968View attachment 1454969View attachment 1454970View attachment 1454971
Nice Livery - I also look for TOCA style liveries in first place ;] I used this one in last weeks.

@TechnoIsLove this is all I have to give after 15 laps

It’s nice you are getting to grips with the equipment.

I didn’t get a lot of time as work/meetings were busy and I was cooking.

Great job friend 👍 you might even be top 2000 at the end of the week.

🤣🤣🤣 banter

I was thinking to do Race B to grind some money considering the "+1000%" price increase.
But reading your comments I think I will stay with my loved Le Mans 700 with a peaceful 825k€ every ~30 minutes.

Here is another example from today:-) I feel powerless:-) Time and time again I am being hit at that turn. I had a nice one race where 3 people were very respectful. We finished on the podium.

On this race, I was taken out by someone who wrote to me that he missed a brake marker. I was able to eventually finish 8, do at least did not damage DR/SR.

Man that sucks! I was in a race now and people drove clean for once! Started in P6, was in P3 by lap 10 and 2 corners from the end, kicked out and "Gran Turismo Servers are out" popped as a message 💩 ⚰️ 💔😡

I was taken 3 times out of 5 attempts today at that exact corner. And I try go let people go…but someone from P5 wants to take the first corner and come in P1:-)

My two cents.

1. Dont take awkward defensive lines. You will be missing apexes and letting the pack behind to catch you.
I dont defend in Tokyo. If the car behind wants to pass me I let him go and stay behind him until a good opportunity to retrieve the position. The slip is strong enough, you wont miss him. If im in second place, I dont try to pass the car ahead. I team work with him bump drafting to make a gap with the pack behind and I just fight for the position in the last lap.

2. How can I avoid first-lap collisions like the one in the clip?

In the video, someone tries to overtake me into a corner from P5. It’s early, tight, and chaotic. I’m unsure if I could have positioned myself differently to avoid the contact, or if it was just bad luck.
Hard to judge on that camera where we cant see speeds or inputs.
It seems that you left "some gap" on the inside. Theres really no gap there but some people are "optimistic" enough to think that a dive form 4 cars behind can work once they see the track is "clear" inside.
However, Im not sure if the driver was dirty or if he just missed his marker and was looking for space to make the less possible carnage

This kind of drivers are prone to take stupid lines that may kill the both of you.
For example they put their nose inside your quarter panel just to lean on you at the turn.
What I like to do there is to brake early (very) and because they are more focused in that stupid move than in making the apex they always brake late and with no car outside to lean on they are the ones who ends agaist the wall.

This is a tough race but Im having more fun than what I expected.
In my lobbies, the first 3 laps are being reasonable clean but the last lap turns GT7 into Mario Kart.

This clip shows 3 cars not cooperating with each other in front of me (who will think that 3 wide wouldnt work in Tokio! ) and with a bit of luck I could make it clean through the chaos.

The view from the car behind (taken from the stream of Cyrus) was even better

Edit: grammar

I’ve honestly never seen anything like this before.

It felt like people weren’t racing—they were just out to ram, hit, and crash into anything in front of them. I somehow survived the first braking zone after getting completely sandwiched, but then in the tunnel someone just drove straight into me and sent me flying into the wall.

The level of aggression was unreal—it almost felt hostile. Not competitive, but personal. I was hit so many times that my car was heavily damaged and for a while I couldn’t even drive properly.

But somehow, I came back to life and managed to finish P8.

Still, I’m just stunned. Pure insanity.

P.S. survived this week, made it to B and this is where my journey with Tokyo B race this week ends. Not enjoying it! But will keep practicing a lot to be able to keep up with B-level guys and progress.
