Hotlapping following a ghost is not the same as racing with others with a full tank. My 1.39.9 in race B always puts in the top 3 of the grid, but I always drop in the race, I'm just not confortable with that Lambo.
Never race after practicing only following a ghost. After setting a decent QT behind a ghost, it is wise to confirm that QT consistently, driving alone before start racing.
Two reasons:
  • The ghost always shows you the lines, so it's easyer the set a decent time.
  • The QT means nothing if you can't consistently lap around it (1 or 2 tenths from it as average in a sequence of lap equal to the race length)

It's impossible to be as quick as your Q time in race conditions with full tank. I'm at least 1s slower.

Indeed, but that wasn't the point. BTW, sometimes, with the right tow in certain tracks, it happens (we know it's artificial). Regardless the QT, if some lose "easely" positions in race from people wich have a significantly slower QT, it means he's out of pace. When some has pace, resisting to pressure from behind it's way less stressful and thus the driving is less prone to mistakes.

I ended up doing two races. Both were marked with penalties. The first one being that that I was getting used to the handling of the car with a full fuel load. Ended up coming in third even though I still got fastest lap of the race. And the second race just made me laugh at the end. I’ll let the video do the talking.

Dude that looks loads of fun in VR, I need to get mine out for this week, cool inside view!

It’s serving up some great racing,

The head shaking is really something. The point of view seems lil bit higher than in reality, btw. Either the driver is a giant, or I'm just too used to the times I was driving that lil bomb when in holidays from middle school.
I really need to get a VR asap. DD wheel can definitely wait.

Yeah I know what you mean, it’s almost like you sit with the wheel between your legs in a bucket seat haha

It’s your hobby man, just spoil yourself and buy it all 😁

I should use VR more and get my times down but I can’t compromise, it’ll happen someday

Honda NSX and Alfa 4C look to be the META at Glen. I strongly recommend the NSX there.

And usually I would as well, had some great racing in it last time….but I am massively struggling to extract the same sort of times out of it. Like really chalk and cheese comparing the G70 times and my NSX times.

I’m not alone my leaderboard is mixed as well in the top 10 of it (I’m 8th in the G70 and 412th, and there are 2 more G70s ahead of me but sparks and stokie Ben are in the top 15 in NSX’s 🤷‍♂️

It’s the classic sit on it rather than in French driving position! And it’s a fun car!

My dad’s R5 was like that, my 172 was like that the wifes(girlfriends at the time) C2 VTS the same!

I just hum “the wheels on the bus go round and….”

🤣

Yeah say last night race b, qualy a 41.2 and I ran 4 laps in a row in clean air in the race, pushing at 9 tenths at 42.3 or 42.4.

By mid week your race pace and QT pace should start to converge.

The main thing is consistency. In some of the top/2/3rd split lobbies I’ve had the unluck to be filler for they are circulating in race trim at my QT and I’m only .5-1s slower in QT than them and typically top 2/300.

Running .5-1s off QT is my target as well but it does depend on the combo as I’m really weak at some and super strong at others. Swings and round abouts!

I didn't want to reply to your response until I had the time for another sport race
to make sure were talking about the same thing. I get you were trying to be funny
but I think you misunderstood the question.

Right after the race ends it goes right to the standings screen, were it shows
the race time remaining and that big red hard to miss exit button is not there.
The only option available is to switch from the nickname to the user name.

Then when the time finally runs out it goes to the screen where you can exit sport
mode, but by the time I get there most people have left and there's a lot of
messages they had time to post. So I'm assuming there's a quicker way to get there.

Thats why I asked if there was a combination of buttons you need to hit, meaning on
the wheel or controller. It's the only thing I could think of besides an option I needed
to change, or maybe some weird glitch nobody else has.

So I hope I my original post makes a little more sense now and sorry for any confusion.
Thanks for your reply, and any answers anybody has.

You won’t get that button until you get to the post race lobby which requires going through the post race credits screen.

Can I ask, what is your DR ranking and what sort of times do you post relative to some of the fast players?

Next time it happens, hit the share button select recent gameplay and chose 3 or 5 mins that’s up to you.

Then when we can see that even if you don’t want to share the replay we can look at a few screenshots.

I have done over 6000 online races (excluding lobbies, disconnects and some quits) and have 2 other accounts with 1 in a different region and never once experienced the bug you are describing it’s over 9000 play hours.

The 1:30 countdown starts as soon as p1 crosses the line, that counter drops according to the way the pack crosses the line then. I'm guessing ( and I would appreciate no smart admin comment) that maybe it is just a server lag issue?? I understand what you are saying and I have often wondered the same thing and that lag issue is the most plausible reason I can see🤷🤷

I get you were trying to be funny
I was not. You were talking about "the main race screen", which I understood to be the lobby screen with all of its various interfaces, and that's the button you press to exit after a race in that screen if you don't want to wait for the clock to run down:
How do you exit a daily race? After a race it takes me about 30 seconds
to get back to the main race screen and I have to wait till the clock runs down.
Then when I finally get back to that screen pretty much everyone else is gone.
At the race standings screen immediately after the race ends (for you), there is no way to manually exit.
Then when the time finally runs out it goes to the screen where you can exit sport
mode, but by the time I get there most people have left and there's a lot of
messages they had time to post. So I'm assuming there's a quicker way to get there.
It'll be one of two things: connection quality and console.

It absolutely takes longer to get through the subsequent screens on PS4 than it does on PS5, and I think on PS5 Pro (though I've only done one Daily Race on that) it's quicker still.

I would appreciate no smart admin comment
Smart is all I got. If you want dumb admin comments there's other sites who can be much more accommodating.

No idea why you needed to say that though.

PS5 Pro (though I've only done one Daily Race on that) it's quicker still.

It’s not because it’s a network loading screen, any improvement is just lobby quality and if you are all PS Pro amazing if you are in a lobby with that guy 85ft away a microwave, some stairs an oven and possibly a lead lined roof.

It’s not quicker, it’s always as quick as the slowest camel

Kay, well I absolutely roast through the post-race screens - finish animation, credits, mileage - and back to lobby on PS5, and utterly lumber on PS4. Different accounts, but still same home network (well, different switches, but still a switch and 20ft of Cat6 from the router), and it's not even particularly close.

So do I…and I’m a standard PS 5?

Wasn’t throwing shade, just in the grand scheme of things PS5 PS5 Pro is faster loading but still dependent on some aspects of lobby quality?

I'm confused by your prior statement then that it's network- and not console-dependent.

Every Daily Race I've done on PS4 has been slower to get from the end of the countdown on the race results screen back to the lobby than every Daily Race I've done on PS5. If it's network-dependent it should be much more variable and not consistently like this.

I reserve judgment on whether it's the same for PS5 Pro to PS5 because I've only done one Daily Race on PS5 Pro. Maybe two, I don't recall; I think I might have done one in November as well as yesterday.

I mentioned it because if @gapper59 is on PS4, maybe that's a reason for him having the slow transition he describes; it certainly has been in my experience. Network is, of course, the other.

Not sure what the issue is? I appreciate that it’s a slow console, you are the one that mentions the PS5 Pro and zipping through.

This is why asked for some share captures to see what he was seeing? It’s not that much slower on a PS5.

What’s the double down on me mate? I don’t cross the lines often and am supportive and not rude?

I'm not following what you're reading an issue with. Here's my original comment again:

In it I say that the transition from race-end to lobby is slower on PS4 than on PS5 (for me) and, while I've only done one (although it may be two) on PS5 Pro it seems quicker still. Your comment said it's not because it depends on the slowest (connection, I assume, from the various networking references) guy, much like P2P generally functions:

Subsequently we seem to agree that it takes longer for someone on PS4 than someone on PS5.

Is that the case?

What’s the double down on me mate? I don’t cross the lines often and am supportive and not rude?
I don't really know what's going on at this point. All I said was that the post-race loading screens were quicker to navigate through on PS5 (when button-mashing, obviously!) than on PS4 for me, and in one (possibly two) races thus far on PS5 Pro it seemed quicker still.

I'm not sure what's being doubled-down upon or what lines have been crossed.

Or maybe he’s on ps4 and everyone else is on a 5 or pro 5 so it’s a way to keep all consoles working the game together?

Edit, think I stated what you’ve stated so just forget me 😁

I know what bucko is asking, I too always feel like I am the last man in the room so don't have time call someone a muppet.
I used to see the whole "return to lobby, oh (almost) everyone's gone" thing a lot on GT Sport on PS4. On PS5, not so much, and on the occasions I play GT7 online on PS4 (which is less than on PS5) it happens more often again.

If @gapper59 is on PS4, then that - from my experience - may be an explanation. If not, then I concur that network environment is more likely. Of course it could also be both.

Ok 👍

I'm back from a short break and am having a go at Watkins Glen. It did not go well. Way too many off tracks including 3 separate 1 second penalties in a single race that was disheartening. Once I clean that up I'll be good for the week. I'm currently in the G70 with the livery for the "Hornet" car from Daytona USA. Which is highly amusing to me.

Hotlapping following a ghost is not the same as racing with others with a full tank. My 1.39.9 in race B always puts in the top 3 of the grid, but I always drop in the race, I'm just not confortable with that Lambo.
I mean no offense by this, but I'm really struggling to figure-out where you're going for here. If you answered later and I missed it, feel free to ignore me.😇

The first part is kinda like saying 'Black paint is black.' A true, if not obvious statement given weight kills pretty much everything from entry speeds to exit speeds and beyond. No arguments there. The last part you mention about the Lambo is, really, the solution to the first bit. Any additional clues could prove helpful.

I'll try to help with what we got so far...it was a 911 with the BB set to +2 in the room TCS 1.😁

PS - 911 is all I drive in Gr.3, your results may vary. Point being, the fastest car for others may not always the fastest car for you.👍

Frustrating night in race B . I have decent pace, qualifying high and racing in top 5 in high B or A/B rooms. I never got a totally clean race though, odd small mistakes from myself, one dirty room but two incredibly annoying penalties where a guy loses it, rejoins and I tag him so I get the 3 seconds, like really PD???? Hopeless system, just hopeless.

Also toonoften someone just nudges you and that is enough to let the mob past.

But it's a good race, even if it is slowly morphing into the lambo cup. The BRS drivers really do need to try the Beetle, I don't see what the BRS does the beetle doesn't.

I get your point. The NSX is now way less fun to drive than it was before those infamous BoP. At Bus Stop I could fly over the kerbs without problems, now I really need to take a lot of care there. It's more on/off than before, but still doesn't want to rev up; like if it's towing a roulotte. I'm now on +1 bb and on the chase of the right marks. I've found few, but still missing some. PD didn't help either, with that "sun on your face" at last corner, let me say.
The car has evidently lot to say at Glen, but it need to be driven with a bisturi on the right and a hammer in the left.
Got a '56.0 (out of the blocks with cold tyres) whilst chasing my '55.7 ideal. My weekend start tonyt, so, as soon I'll unblock properly turn 1 and the last sunny one, I think that even the mid '55 is a possibility.
