Guys I am having an absolute blast in race A, beating AS drivers, the racing is really clean and everybody happy poodling around in those little fun mobiles, I need to improve on my 1.41.6xx but just a tad to overtake @kowalski__1 😁 but not sure I can get to @TheNormsk time of 1.41.3xx, which he chucked in quickly 😉

I’m sticking here for the week and may well unleash the G70 at the weekend at the Glen, owned by the Glen @newmedia_dev 👊

I struggled in my first couple races. Turns-out, the line when running three+ wide through turn one (two, three, four, five...) is just a bit different than flying solo during qualifiers. Been freakin' gold since then, though!!🤣

The times are quickening up, tonight I was against A+ drivers so I know I can cut it in that crowd, for this race at least 🤣

Managed to win one, attached was a super close race - the racing I just amazing, the one in the shot, A+ fighting it out and came back from 3 secs out after 3 laps, so much fun

The pack was my big challenge to start with...cars are every-flippin'-where. My first two races hacked my SR from full S to mid-A. Third race I shout-out "Dropping back" to try and stay safe and what happens? Four people join me...bit of a love/hate thing so rolled with it best I could, lol. Been running 42.3xx - 6xx laps in clean air.👍

Personally, I think rounds like this week's A draw in racers like moths to flame. Too boring/slow/lame for the arcade types because it's not an easy car to extract good lap times from, especially at DF. Power understeer, monster weight transfer and 80's era turbo 'smoothness' (🤣) make it feel like you're sitting on a milk crate piloting a hay wagon off a cliff with ropes...and I can't wait to do it again.

More races at Watkins Glen for me this evening. I got my quick time down to 1:57:1XX and I could get a sub 1:56 time if I tried. Both of my races were full of lap 1 heroes and the general lack of awareness on the track. I got my nose chopped and hit in general all night. Just ridiculous. I did send some people to the shadow realm and got called out post race as i should have given the spots back, but I didn't. And to make it worse, it's a driver I have driven clean with over multiple races and I get why they were upset. I'll be done this week as I'm not fan of the bumper cars going on.
 
Yeah I had similar in my first few races tonight at Barcelona, punted regularly, not huge punts but guys going for gaps that are not there and not accounting for their tow and needing to brake a touch earlier.

By my 4th race I was pretty peeved but started P2 and thanks to the epic starts and epic brakes on the beetle i took P1 and scattered off leaving the faster man in p2 to deal with horde of zombies. Credit to the man, he kept it clean in T1.

Final race was really quite excellent, pack of 4 cars p3 to p7, everyone clearly trying to be clean. Video coming shortly, bit of a slow burn but a good motorsport nerds race. Again a very brave T1 pass but this time on the final lap. When you get a race like this the game is so enjoyable, like that one drive from 18 holes that you Crack down the middle and keeps you coming back.

It's taken 23 races and a drop of about 7000 DR points -- 23% A to 88% B -- in the Ford GT Race Car '18 at Catalunya to finally be landing in lobbies where I'm feeling on-pace with the other drivers (current QT is 1:41.383). It's been a lot of driving around the back of the pack, only picking up positions to drivers who have gone off the track. It felt pretty rough there for a while.

Overall, the racing I've had has been pretty respectful. I've had a fair bit of fun side-by-side racing. There have been plenty of mistakes and incidents, of course, but they feel honest for the most part. There have only been a handful of times that I felt like moves were dirty.

The Ford GT is clearly not the META here. I'm pretty consistently dropping a position or two right off the start on the straight to T1, as pretty much every other car gets up to speed quicker. Otherwise, once it gets going, it feels pretty decent, at least now that I'm in lobbies of comparable pace. I wouldn't recommend using it unless you are willing to take a DR hit, though.

** Update **

I am genuinely angry at what happened in my race @ Watkins just now!

  • Started in P7 and drop to P14 by the end of Lap 1 after I make a silly error after barely crossing track limits and get a penalty
  • Kept my head down and was up to P8 by the end of lap 6
  • End of Lap 7 on the start/ finish, I make a triple overtake and up to P5
  • NSX top speed + overpowered slipstream and I drop to P6
  • Last lap I defend my place cleanly (again, overspeed and slipstream made it difficult to create a gap) heading to the chicane at the end of Sector 1 and he punts me across the grass!
  • Not bad enough, I GET A 1 SECOND PENALTY for ending up off track + damage and finish in P9 ?!?!
Here are the highlights (more like lowlights) from the race. Dead inside lol....

I just want to point out that the laughing emoji I posted was on your pre update comment and not at your misfortunes 😁 because it looked bad just reading the rest now

Didn't take the pic. My lap is good trough t3 and 4, but lack still some 3 tenth in t1 and 2.

What a lovely little race this is and how much fun especially in VR ;)

Just gonna mood hoover a little bit, but the reason B and C are sweaty is because it doesn’t focus on fun. It’s a weird “serious E sport racing…..not sanctioned by any official esport leagues”

Get yourself into the Alpines buddy, @Gurzu came in and jumped the leaderboard, don’t think I can get close but I reckon you got the skills 😁 and it’s a super fab race.

Roll on gr4 race b next week
 
Y'all putting down some solid QTs for Race A! Nice.

Slightly improved my Race C QT, with a 1:56.956 in the NSX Gr.4.

Race 1: Started P12. Screwed up the bus stop chicane on Lap 1, and fell back to last place. Finished P11.

Race 2: Started P10. Was doing pretty well, until I screwed Turn 1 on Lap 5, and dropped down to last place. Finished P12.

Race 3: Started P5. Screwed up the bus stop chicane on Lap 1, and lost a handful of positions. Finished P10.

Eyes were too tired to do more races. I blame catching up on those three TTs.

Not the most productive day at the Glen. My left foot kept forgetting what to do for Turn 1 and the bus stop chicane. It would herp while my right foot derped. Maybe tomorrow will be better...

Yeah I can imagine, I’m more a sprint racer in B so I get the mentality of taking each opportunity as it arises, the same logic cannot be for C where it’s measured and a slow build up over laps, must be frustrating when the two combine 👍
 
Race A is awesome. PD need to give us the ability to lock these car tunes in lobbies, it's criminal we have these cars that are so good once tuned rendered useless by the fact that everyone can't be restricted to the same tune.

Tell me about it. The dude who took me out on the last lap after climbing from P14 to P5 had done the same to others but after he did it to me, a previous victim nuked him a few seconds later so at least some justice and karma kicked in, shame I dropped to P9 in the end though 💔
 
Hey guys, I finally found my NSX setup for Watkins Glen: bb +2. Tried this morning and suddenly I could (almost) go round Bus Stop like I was doing before BoP. Turn 1 also is becoming to be unlocked soon. Merging my laps gives now a '55.588, so I'm almost there. Sorry @TechnoIsLove, I know you're missing Glen, so I think I'll help giving you some sort of reminiscence. 🤣

Yep, saw that this morning! Very nice mate! I tried the NSX a bit and over 15 laps, was always getting stuck in the 1:55:8's like 9 straight laps all within 0.05 of each other but never faster than 1:55:811.

Will hop on a bit later when Mrs Techno is preparing dinner with the G20 but I think for the actual races, will choose the NSX as at least I figured out how to handle it as I want it and it is faster than the G20 on the straights, especially with slipstream!

Very nice time, sir! Also - I never miss @newmedia_dev 🤣 But I always do look around when driving for real, see if I spot something in a ditch, like a flipped over BMW 😉🤪😘

Ran some laps at WG last night I discovered y'all weren't lyin'...the NSX is flyin'. Never drove the car much so had no idea what I was getting into but was within a tenth of my G70 time on the first lap. Since the G70 feels more like 'work' than 'entertainment' to drive, I'm sticking with it. To me, the NSX likes to dance while the G70 just wants to stomp through to the next turn.👍

Weird side-note, have any of you had a car disappear out of your garage for no apparent reason? Was going to throw the Beetle at Barcelona for fun, and because I like the livery I made, and it was nowhere to be found. Gone. Bought another one and was able to re-apply the livery from GTSport so nothing lost, just odd. Well, I guess I was out $450K but whatever.
