Did a few rounds of Daily B, low A+/S in the Asia region.

Hot damn the driving standards are horrible; insane dives into the last corner, the last chicane, weaving and bumping after Eau Rouge and then more diving into the chicane after there, people think they can go 3-wide for the following 4 corners (spoiler, they can't).

Will give Daily C a go tomorrow, hopefully the racing there isn't as abysmal.

Just to say that the GR Supra works at Spa. What you may lose in corners it's taken back on straights. 2 tenths quicker than the GTR without a drop of sweat. I'm lying 🤣. (with the heat wawe ongoing I'm basically melting) Second Stavelot flat out is not a joke, but very satisfying when nailed.

Edit: Tried the McL 650s after the Supra easely getting to a 2:20.05. So, the McL is my car for Spa. Fast on straights, well balanced in bends and less on the edge compared to the others; let's say more planted. Mid/low '19 is the target to get in the mix.

Back at it as last week's races didn't interest me at all. I'm starting at Spa and I set my fast time in the GT-R with a 2:21:8XX. That's fine with me for now so I jumped in for some races.

My first race had me in P5 to start and I was in P2 most of the race. An off track penalty and some missed brake points dropped me to P4. There was a 7 second gap to P5 so no idea what happened there. Clean up front at least so that is a win.

My second and last race of the night had me in P4 and I found myself in front at the end of lap 1. Even with a 1 second penalty for missing Eau Rouge and Raidillon, I was still fast enough to hang on for the victory! I call it a night and not push my luck.

Good start to my week. I'll see about some race A as you all seem to be having some fun there.

Try race A, always is a welcome distraction when race B gets sweaty! I hope your racing improves! 👍👍

Well, that was a blinding QT run I just did. 85th global.

Now let’s see if I can remember how to race 😁

Edit.

I did two races. Both were pretty crash affairs. Second one I came up against a SR C piece of garbage. Whose idea to prevent me from overtaking him, after he slams me into the barrier, is to continue several times is to slide me into the barrier again. Amazingly at the end of the race, his SR went up. Unbelievable.

Oh and I’m back in DR A.

Edit 2.
Third race I had a really good back-and-forth session with some A+ dude until the third lap when I lost it on those stupid sausages. I thought it was my fault but he apologies saying he gave me a slight tap on that lap. No harm we were both racing really hard trading first place back-and-forth each lap. It was a good race even though I ended up coming 8th from that one because I spun 180.

Edit 3. Called it quits after the fourth race. I came across the same piece of garbage (B/B recently promoted from B/C) I came across in the first race. I had a healthy lead on lap one and he just comes bowling in and pings me into the barrier on the right hander after the long straight. He gets no penalty at all and rockets off and wins with a huge lead in the end. I wish there was a way to report bad drivers.

I tried out the F40 in Race C, I just couldn't get it to turn in. Its brakes were no match for the swarm of R34s I was up against, and that's before you factor in the usual driving standards that make Verstappen look like the average Goodwood competitor.

Don’t have the time to watch it all but that’s some kind of carnage 😁

Your 4sec pen seemed harsh, in the wet 🤷‍♂️
Heh I know what you mean mate, I saw 2 second penalties being handed out I think that would've been better. On that video, it's best to do first and last laps 👍

The 650 is good in general on the straights (decent top end) and corners (stable) but always feels like one of the worst under brakes. So be prepared to get divebombed a lot.

Well, tried Race C and hot damn this is the best daily race in ages! Someone promote whoever was responsible for this fantastic race.

Did 4 races; 3 in the GT-R GT500 and one in the Supra GT500. Both seem decently balanced on pace, only real difference being the gearing (GT-R has very long gears) and turbo response. GT-R feel a bit more controllable/predictable/responsive out of corners, the Supra's turbo is living its own life, utterly unconcerned with what I want from it.
3 bone dry races and one in a typhoon, surprisingly the MR cars didn't just walk into the distance like I expected in the rain. Both the NSX GT500 and the McLaren F1 short-tail seemed VERY wobbly in the wet.

Why can't we win the liveries for each podium we score? Or each pole position / fastest lap / etc. Why isn't this a series of races in single-player? Why isn't this a preset for multiplayer (as a car category like Gr4, Gr3)? Why isn't this in the GTWS Nations as a race there? This is peak GT7!

I have a theory that these races are largely good it doesn’t feel like they are ticking the boxes for everyone…

A: is a race that now has DR A+ peeps trying to farm and that conversely lowers the standards sadly.

B: is so well known splitting people is hard and making progress is hard and contact in these faster cars and closer lobbies and only < 3 laps to recover a weird challenge

C: the car choose is fantastic and dynamic weather great, the top and bottom of the hour don’t always fit and personally if I’m doing a mini Manu race I’d like to have skin (dr in the game)

so I’m less inclined to do any of them massively this week.

This traces back to just volumes of posts on thread anecdotally, it’s a ghost town week which could mean the racing is sooo good there is no time to post or the quiet yeah it’s good but not what they said etc

it’s a ghost town week
It's July. That mean's Europe has gone on holiday for 6 weeks and this is the 4th July week in the US, so lots of people are traveling/vacationing here as well.

I like daily A and like that it has DR now, and my most fun race (though worse performing - as I crashed out on the sausages) was having a head to head battle with an A+ dude for first. Beyond that A has been disappointing. Most other races are low ranked, low SR (many races were full of B/B types or even B/C types) and that certainly lowered the standards of racing. It got really annoying when you're in the lead and then they just try to wall ride into you in the turns. Now that could have been just the two bad apples I kept on coming across last night but it lowered the tone.

That’s fair @TheNormsk although my primary age and the secondary schools aren’t breaking up until next week. But on the continent they probably broke up 3 weeks ago 🤣

Can’t comment on the NA lobbies (sic) as I haven’t tried them.

The races are great but I think an unintended consequence is that it brings less “warmed up” players back to the races and that can cause “some issues/confusion”

Let’s see how it pans out but I do feel my initial point is in the ring still for debate. We will see, even the TT thread is quiet so you may well be right.

Isn't 'bringing people back' the goal, though? And not just for PD, for us, too. Nobody likes thin lobbies or grids with DR rankings that include D - A+, and we've all been in them at some point. Won't disagree that there are detriments, but I think the benefits outweigh them.

A: is a race that now has DR A+ peeps trying to farm and that conversely lowers the standards sadly.
Trying to farm or just enjoying the race...I mean, there's only one field, how many farmers can there be? When all the A+ folks are in one spot, it's no longer farming, it's a knife fight. Also, if this was Race B, would it still be farming? Unless this is based on Race A being an assumed entry point of sorts for new/chill racers, I don't fully get the farming ruining the racing angle.😇

B: is so well known splitting people is hard and making progress is hard and contact in these faster cars and closer lobbies and only < 3 laps to recover a weird challenge
I thought Race B was kinda normal this week, just crappy with RH's and, yes, way more prone to contact. Definitely think RM's would've made this more enticing, as would an additional lap. Can't say much more as I've not touched it, lol. That's just previous Spa experiences in mind.

C: the car choose is fantastic and dynamic weather great, the top and bottom of the hour don’t always fit and personally if I’m doing a mini Manu race I’d like to have skin (dr in the game)
Yeah, DR being off for this one is a bummer. Would've made for some super competitive, high-intensity racing. That said, and IMHO, it really allows you to enjoy the race, the cars and the weather. Not spewing f-bombs through gnashed teeth while bleeding DR is kinda nice here and there.🤣

I'll also agree with @TheNormsk ...because 'Holiday!!' on the silence 'round here.

That’s missing the point a little, fuller lobbies with people that can race is great, where “sportsmanship” filters down beyond the top split and the trivial video.

My point is that rusty players come play, and aren’t “up to speed or with the program”

I’d imagine we all want “better lobbies” rather than picking driver letters.

You also have to be very pragmatic as well especially in this A type race where A+ guys are that much quicker but still the guy 9 places back out brakes themselves.

It’s not loads of fun when you are at the sharp end of those lobbies and know what you are doing quite frankly

You race on US servers, in the EU these things are stacked. Just a volume thing

Agree 100%

I recall doing some qualifying for Race A a day or two ago, and at the time I was done for the session, my time was in the top 1.3k, which I think is quite splendid for a race with DR turned on.

As a Medicare B/A driver I’ll be starting at the back in some of my lobbies.

I’m 450th at the moment and I’m starting 8th in my lobbies and these are A+ to B

I didn't really try and set a new time for Spa. I just wanted to race and get to some action.

Race 1 had me in P6 to start and I'm up to P3. I should have made a pass on P2 when they had a big wiggle but I decided not to. That lead to 4 of us arriving at Eau Rouge at the same time and I made a poor choice by not backing all the way out. So I tapped a driver and they recovered thank goodness and off we continued. I was then dive bombed and that send me to P12. Somehow, thanks to last lap spins and a driver with a big penalty I steal P8.

My second race put me P8 to start. This race was cleaner and not much happened surprisingly. Some nice battles and good racing and a P7 finish for me.

I'm now working on race A and still need to learn the tack more before I jump in. Looks to be a fun combo so far. Well, before I try with real drivers on track.

I tried to do a couple more daily race A’s this evening. Try being the euphemism. What shameful races they were. Absolute dire driving standards.

In two races, I went from 1st to 12th in the first and in the second, 1st to 10th.

It was more like Banger cars than racing. While I enjoy the track and the car I think I’m done with daily race A for this week now.

Now, I remember one why I gave up sport and just took up time trials. PD needs to do something about this, otherwise they’re gonna lose all their sport racers.

Nice little run this morning, 3 wins out of 3, first two fiercely competitive and didn’t expect to win, perhaps it was folks end of the night against my early morning, who knows but I’ll take that, last win was sitting third all race from a pole start and 2nd rammed 1st last corner (ouch) and I swooped right in,

Possibly more impressive for me, was sitting at 1.46.1xx for the week, resigned to not breaking into the 45s and bang outa nowhere was this 1.45.5xx, all down to taking the last chicane in 4th, gained me 8tenths! Next couple of times I was sideways and in the wall, so don’t try in race 😁

After the dreadful races today, I decided to get angry and have a solid QT session to see what I could do with this car. Climbed back up to 81st in the world, but still not top of my friends leaderboard.

@Nebuc72 I’m coming for you! :D
Lol. You’re probably safe. I don’t think you’ve ever let me beat you.

Oh, and while I’m (more consistently) faster chasing a ghost, I can lap in the 1:45.5s without a ghost. So not too far off…

One thing for Race C that is great is being able to use cars competitively not normally accessible like the McLarens.

That being said find that as great as dynamic weather is, if it turns out to be dry the whole race the advantages of picking a certain car like the McLaren 97 are completely blown out the water. Used it for 2 races yesterday and it’s great to drive in VR and a lot of fun, but just get absolutely burned on the straights and can’t maximise any advantage in the esses or if it rained. So bit of a lucky dip picking the car without knowing the weather beforehand.

I would be happy if they would just open up the tuning sheets so we could have a look under the hood!

On that point, I just can't get a result at Suzuka. I've managed to get my SR back to full (and I intend to keep it there), and I've had flawlessly clean racing all week so far, but no rain as of yet. Competing against drivers with full-SR and creeping up the A ranking really brings some great head to head battles but my race time is atrocious. I love the Pennzoil GTR and it's facsimile blue twin, but these aren't Gr.3 BOP settings are they? My quali stands up pretty well, but I'm losing time consistently through Spoon and at the hairpin.

@TheNormsk I see what you're saying about driving standards in this 'remix' week... I wonder if PD have some fancy analytics watching Sport Mode experiments such as these, or whether they will only be looking at rudimentary numbers to evaluate their level of success (for lack of a better word).

I had much better luck with the Lambo last night, after setting a 2:03.5 to put myself 9th on the grid. I had a lucky break as the 10th-placed Pennzoil Skyline disconnected on the grid, giving me a 5 second gap to the group behind. I then blew it with a stupid spin at the Dunlop Curve (the long left hander after the esses) that dumped me into the gravel...on lap 2 after an early pitstop for some clear air. I recovered to finish 5th, but I was just as nervous as the Lambo through every long sweeping turn afterwards.

Having a bundle of fun with this race A, this is what we need, DR enabled races at these lower touring levels, these are great fun to drive.

@newmedia_dev nice to see you in race buddy, not my finest race, I think you gave me stage fright 😁 I won the one after 😂

Took the afternoon off to have a few beers and blast some races out 👍
