I am optimistic about Deep Forest Race C this week! Did a few laps yesterday and some more just now and after twiddling about with the wheel settings for a couple of minutes, I found a great balance for the 650S and set a time which I am happy with (for now) 🙃

Will need to see what happens during the race since Tidge mentioned extreme tire wear but so far from doing a few qualy laps, keeping my fingers crossed 🫰

Also.... ahem Mr @Childe Roland 🤣🤪

Starting to find my feet this week, have a 2.16.xx on Bathurst and starting to find rhythm in the G70,

1.27.7xx in the Lancier Delta and some more to go at I feel

Definitely a different race space being DR A/S, much tougher opposition but just about keeping myself in and still progressing
Can't get my QT at Bathurst down for some reason - and then keep finding myself in races where the guys up front are as much as 4 seconds faster!

Having said that, the race performance hasn't been too bad - 5 races yesterday, and I finished in the top 6 in each of them. Slowly creeping back towards a B DR.... 🙂

You go and be King of the Mountain, ...Larry, ....err, I mean, Neville 😋

Yeah, I meandered around Mount Panorama in the Honda NSX last night. I agree, more HP would've been better.

BATHURST TRIVIA - 1979
I camped on top of the Mountain (Sulman Park) in 1979 and watched Brockie (Peter Perfect) win by 6-laps in his Torana A9X and set the Race Lap Record on the FINAL lap.

Unfortunately, I only had that Torana SS for a couple of years before I ended up selling to the Wreckers for $700 😢
Live & learn, I suppose.

So, I guess you get an idea of how old I am now 😱
These days I may be too old for a few things, ...but I'm not old enough to stop enjoying my GT7 (and other Racing titles) in my SIM Rig 👍

Enjoy racing online at Bathurst this week, ...and at Races A & C too 👍😊
Great photos and great memories. I went up there 94 to 96 so saw the transition from DJR to Perkins to HRT. The 95 race was special, huge Perkins fan and he passed the listing Ford right in front of me.

The place started going downhill as soon as they put a cap on booze to one slab of 24 per person per day. Back in the day the top of the mountain was something out of mad max, really wild stuff, the amount of cars that were set on fire at night and the absolute mayhem was great stuff for a young bloke, can't get away with that today. Better for families now I guess but I miss the characters up there, I mean who doesn't like these blokes?

That was really close... but Im still first on your friends list 😎
On a more serious note, I can feel your breath on my neck 😬 and you have a 2 days advantage because I wont come back to the game until thursday.

If you kill my time please do it in a very definitive way as to discourage the chase (like 3 or 4 tenths) because if you make something like 1:26.643 you will have me hot lapping like a rabid dog and I just want to race!

Hope you unknowingly did a nostradamus and predicted my PB for your return 🫰🤪 But deep down, I am aiming for better than that 🙃

** UPDATE **

@Childe Roland - is this enough or you want me to push harder later on? 🙃 I lost 0.3s drifting out of T3 when compared to my average S1 times, so I can get very close to a 1:26:0 if I don't mess up again 🤣

That certainly looks like a wild time! 😆

Did you say it went down hill when the alcohol cap of 24 per person per day came in? What is that cans? 🤣

Daily A sounds very good but I think I wont take your bait because I love Gr.3 at DF and Im not having much free time these days.
But who knows... maybe on the weekend you can have a surprise on your leaderboard 😉
Honestly I can’t get near you guys there this week, I switched to the Ford and followed Naïf around for 10 or so laps and can’t even break in to the 1:26s

Did do some laps of Bathurst with some intent and managed to improve a fair bit there.

I’m in the office tomorrow and Thur so not likely to get much more decent qt time in until Friday evening and well that a 🍻 day 🤣

I hate Bathurst - absolute turd of a track. Makes sense that you like it.

So today I jammed on GT7 and tried Daily Race A which was a chaotic but fun mess and managed 8th place overall. Then moved onto Daily Race C and did about three races, Also change my Porsche RSR livery to a nice blue Geico one. Thta care was good but lacked cornering speed and got hit by harsh penalties.

My best overall was 4th place with the Aston V12 Vantage. Solid car and and a solid race!!! Gotta get your strategy right and tyres take a good bashing so be careful guys!

I'll be doing race B this week as Deep Forest Reverse is not one of my favorite tracks. I got my time in the G70 down to 1:16.9XX. I think I got a few more tenths in me.

My first race had me in P6 to start and it was kind of a boring race. P5 has a moment going down the mountain and I basically cruise there the rest of the race. I might of had an opportunity at P4, but decided not to push it. So, a P5 finish with a clean race bonus.

My second race had me in P10 and it was a struggle from the start. First, the race starts as I'm entering the final corner which was dumb. I miss turn 1 and fall back into chaos. Some bumper cars take place, but I will blame that on the tight track as I forgot how narrow this track is. I get back to up to P10 eventually as I cross the finish line.

My third and final race has me in P12. More chaos as the dirty driving was in full force. Well, maybe not dirty, but fully unaware drivers. People making dives and lots of squeezing others off track. I was collateral damage in a revenge punt that would have gotten me away from that garbage. On the final lap, I'm racing for P10 and they go wide before the trip down the mountain. I give them a tap, and I back off to let them get going again. But they don't and I take off. I finish P10 again and call it a night.

SUCH an annoying night at Bathurst. Being grouped with seriously gast guys, half the grid in the 14s so my 15.9 is slow. First two races I was driving as well as I could for 4 laps, gained a few spots then binned on the last lap both times dammit.

3rd race punted off, honest mistake and he waited up for me but jeeeeezus.

4th and 5th punted off by psychos. Back down to DRB I go. Its a shame as there were many laps of very good, nose to tail racing, really sweaty stuff, but then random idiots run you off the road for P12. Morons.

Here is one example, great racing with the blue car then captain stupid arrives on the scene.

After a less "take it easy" practice, today I managed a promising '14.8 at Bathurst. I'm not far from unlocking turn 1 and the esses downhill. I'll be happy to shave some more 5 tenths, but even if only 3 could be good at least to not race from the back of the grid. (hopefully)

Nice work! That one took you to the top of my friends list.

I am feeling rather comfy at Bathurst myself (2:15.2), and will try to push it a bit further today.
Also fuelled by the fact that I have returned to low A (after a futile fight with Spa) and I must get up to at least starting mid-field to keep the DR positive.

I think it is quite interesting how one combo can feel so impossible, while another feels like "yeah, I've got this - just give me a minute".

Did my first racing of the week on daily A. First race was a blood bath as I messed up my grid start from pole and was then taken out on the first corner. After that, having learned the grid start, things got better. Had some good races with a 2nd and two 5ths. Not fabulous finishes but good racing still and less sweaty than earlier. That last one though turned out to be an interesting race. I'll let the video do the talking..

You must be number 1 in the world with that qualifying time 🤪

😁

I totally agree on that. (in italian we say "holy words", when something can't be more right than that) It's only my 3rd time in Australia. Basically I'm re-learning the track on a Gr4, still I'm not struggling that much following an alien 10th on the leaderboard with a '13.7 (normally I follow one between the 5 faster guys, but the one I've chosen is the only having a "white rear end" that doesn't disturb/hinder too much till turn 4 whilst almost superimposed with him, especially in turn 1). I'm actually "racing him" till the 1st esses downhill, then he goes. It helps me btw to know where I need to improve the most. I already felt good here in a Gr3 using the joypad, but I'm even beyond feeling good using the wheel. From turn 2 till the end of the downhill section I'm driving in total happiness. Night and day compared the struggling of last week at Spa. Sure when I'll be reaching my limits some frustration will come out, making mistakes, but that's taken well in count. There's still a lot to improve, but I feel I've started on the right foot this week.

I wanted to congratulate Brockie on his achievements over the past few weeks 👍. A few weeks ago, I could still keep up with your times, but now you're getting faster and faster on my friends list. I think I need to unfriend you to avoid further frustration 😉. Joking aside, you're doing really well, and at some point I'll have to figure out what gave you that boost. Keep it up. cheers

Ah thanks buddy, really kind of you to say.

I have these damn fast guys ahead of me which keep spurring me on 😆

This week, racing at the bottom of A however, doesn’t seem like I’m doing well, it’s almost like I’m as fast as I can literally be at the moment, and I’m last 🙁

I’m hopeful a different set of races might improve my fortunes and I might try race C this weekend, I’ll end up back in DR B anyway at this rate,

But thanks for the shout out bro 👊

Had a few days rest before I jumped on this week. On Race B this week, with my DR/SR at CS, although teetering on the cusp of B/S.
On the other hand, I am on the very edge of giving up on this game, or at the least I'm gonna stop bothering trying to race clean. The penalty system is bull, and 70% of the drivers (some of which really baffle me with an S rating) think nothing of knocking you out the way without any care in the world.
This game is on the cusp of being a really great game, but there's one major flaw holding it back.

Don't rush to get into 'B'... the races, even with a full field of BS rated drivers, are more often than not, seriously dirty events. Just today I have lost nearly 3000 points due to incredibly stupid idiots trashing my races. After making good progress in GroupB until the end of June, it all seems to have gone down hill from there. If thing don't improve and if PD don't sort themselves out (penalties etc), I will quit and sell all my kit. There's not much to be happy about these days and it only seems to get worst each week.

On the other hand, I've been at DR B/SR S for about... the whole game (I was last DR A, on a different account, mid-GT Sport) and about 75% of the races are fine, 75% of the rest have one or two players who get dirty when they "feel" aggrieved or might lose a place on the last lap, and only a few are worse than that.

My first race this morning was with a mixture of CS, BA and BB racers, and it was disgusting. If you even think about overtaking you'll just get rammed off the track. I started in 9th and ended up 15th in that race. Thankfully, I went back into CS races for the rest of the day, which although still dirty, I started much further up the pack.

This is a quirk of their matching algorithm you've hit, when you're almost ready to go up a level you get thrown in with the dirty driving low SR racers from the level above. As you've found, they really quite a different breed to the usual SR:S drivers.

The trick is to just to avoid trouble, hang back and let them take each other out. Then smile to yourself as you move up the order faster than you ever would have if you had to actually over-take them all.
