I'm currently at 1:27.273. I was something like 255th last I looked. What is the trick for the extra 3/10ths? I really want to beat you! :D :D

Edit: I wonder is the humongous Dakar Rally lightbox on the front of my car induces additional drag? Does PD consider drag in their modeling?

T1 Coast the bounce off the curb in 4th EDIT: Try not to trail brake but come off them before you turn
T2 Turn early to catch the grass right at the high curb and short shift to 5th
T3 I started using Hollo's 3rd gear rather than Tidgneys 4th but it depends on the line you can get both work
T4 Stay in 4th and brake just enough to start to get in tight, short shift to 5th and early on the power
T5 3rd but its hard to carry the line and be early on the power, its where I lose 1/10th
T6 Stay in 4th but dab the brake and chuck it in clipping the curb fully (its annoying this one as its basically when the sector split pops up)
T7 Take a wider line and short shift to 5th again going over the curb so 2 wheels are on the grass
T8 & 9 Stay in 5th brake gently and turn in, coast if you need to but on the throttle before the apex of the first on and use all the curb on the second part.

HTH :D

✅ I shift to 3rd on braking but as I turn in I immediately upshift to 4th and I am on full throttle even before the apex.
T2 Turn early to catch the grass right at the high curb and short shift to 5th
✅ Yep.
T3 I started using Hollo's 3rd gear rather than Tidgneys 4th but it depends on the line you can get both work
✅ I use 3rd, but sometimes my fastest has been when the car has broke lose, over rotated and I've powered out in a full on rally power slide. That's by accident and not generally repeatable though with my skill.
T4 Stay in 4th and brake just enough to start to get in tight, short shift to 5th and early on the power
✅ Yep. In fact for more of this I short shift, typically shifting around the 6500 (?) mark.
T5 3rd but its hard to carry the line and be early on the power, its where I lose 1/10th
✅ This one I stay in 3rd, but short shift up before T6. I pretty much copy @Metalgear9493.
T6 Stay in 4th but dab the brake and chuck it in clipping the curb fully (its annoying this one as its basically when the sector split pops up)
✅ I do this one of two ways. As you describe but also the @Metalgear9493 approach which is slam it into 3rd for the corner, then upshift to 4th again pulling out. The later I find works better in race with full fuel.
T7 Take a wider line and short shift to 5th again going over the curb so 2 wheels are on the grass
✅ I do.
T8 & 9 Stay in 5th brake gently and turn in, coast if you need to but on the throttle before the apex of the first on and use all the curb on the second part.
✅ This is where I lose most of my time. Sometimes I've nailed it (ala @Metalgear9493) where he forces a drift of the car into T8 to get the right alignment and then powers though. That is really satisfying when you can pull it off but more times that not, my timing will be off and I'll hit the barrier on the Apex. So, yes I am mostly staying in 5th, braking as you mention. I find that some trailing braking into T8 while also getting on the throttle, also helps. Again, I don't always pull it off.

So, the basic summary is that I basically do what I should be doing, it is just everyone else does it that bit betterer. :D

@TheNormsk dude you could of used the quote feature so I could reply 🤣

I am the same as you with T3 my fastest laps have always been with the car sliding through the apex cutting the curb but it’s impossible to do consistently or deliberately 🤣

With the short shifting I only do it for T4 and it’s more by feel/judgment than specific revs - basically I just try to be accelerating when hollo is but occasionally have to have a small lift to miss the exit gravel.

To be honest I set my original .9 before I knew about the short shift to 5th for T4 so it’s probably only a marginal gain there

Typical Normsk, just sends it here there and everywhere 😀

And just before a race as is typical I improved.

@TheNormsk here is the VR lap to compare

The lap in VR

Superb run!

The one area that kills me for lack of consistency and where I can lose much of my time is the last corner complex. When in cab, what are you using braking reference or are you going by intuition based on depth of field?

Screenshot 2025-07-10 at 11.51.07 AM.png

I often use the grass color changes for reference but those are not best in-race as they can be obscured or missed. The fencing on the right is not bad but it is usually out of my core vision so I tend not to use it. Mostly I am using the fencing on the left (as that is where I am looking preparing for the turn) but that is an approximation based on how far back I am, my intuition based on my depth of field. It's not 100% reliable.

Is there one I'm missing that works?

One of the hardest corners for me, I over brake and turn in to much and run wide.

What I’m using is VR it the gap in the fences but more as an aid to turn in. Braking wise hand on heart it’s more gut feel than actual markers as it’s a corner that requires carrying speed so I just judge it. Most of the time I over brake or really lazy on the wheel.

Edit: also it’s a lot easier using the ghost for a TT lap as that’s my marker in reality, I see the car in front dip I brake, it’s dialling in how much is the tricky bit I’ve found. The replay was me following Ben who is 2nd on the leaderboard and my friend so I can ask for some pointers but he plays bumper cam so it doesn’t translate 1-2-1 with VR

Edit:

I am throughly out of words from this last race, A+ driver who didn’t qualify well and was off the pace pushes past and is slow compared to everyone who’s been doing the race all week.

And full throttle again in to the back of me, what the hell is the point of this game. I’ll post the whole race but Jesus I don’t get it I really really really don’t.

TT it is for a few days I guess.

Also great seeing you @Barney Da Dog and @brockie today 🤗

I was tapped from behind.

A+ driver, say that out loud A+ driver.

I have no words, utter utter ****wit

Or the gigantic mudflap.

I still race from the back but the field has all the DR and SR range. Climbing trough is hard especially when there is a dirty driver in there. The same guy was in two back to back race, the first one when I catch up to him he miss a turn and could pass him without drama. In the post race chat I wrote EZ.

So the next race, I had a target on my back I guess. When I catch up to him, I try an overtake but he bump denying me the pass. I settle behind him, he then honk me. From there I just put pressure on him, forcing him to race in his mirror and he did a mistake again and I could pass. Later in the race a victim of the dirty driver took care of him and send him to Narnia.

The huge swing in DR range also gave some good opportunity. Here I ended up 2nd by the end of the first lap.

That camera for replays is so so so cool

Just 2 races for me tonight. I didn't bother trying and set a quick time.

Race 1 has me in P13 to start in a half and half A/B lobby. I touch the grass in The Chase and that was all she wrote. A P14 finish for that.

My last race tonight put me in P6 with a single C rank driver and some drivers in A safety rating. I could not get the entry to The Chase correct all race and dropped from P4 finish to P7 in the final attempt there. Major disappointment from me.

My week was fine for what it was. I gained some DR and had some good battles with drivers. Decent combo in my opinion. I just wish there was a larger selection of competitive cars so it wasn't a G70 one make. Hopefully next week has some good races to pick from.

Well today was Mrs Techno's birthday so spent the day at the cinema (Jurassic World, 4/ 5 rating), shopping and then BBQ-ing some steaks for dinner. Had about 10 min this evening to set a time (improved by 0.01s lol) and started in P6 at Deep Forest. Was up to P4 by lap 6 and as I was making a pass for a podium position, I was brake-checked on purpose, could not avoid, so slammed into the car in front, got damage, spun out and a 3s pen to top it off....

Was down to P15 after pitting for tires at the end of lap 8 and again, worked my way up to P7 in the next laps. Lap 12, I overtake 2 cars entering the right-hander after the tunnel mid-Sector 2 and then going to overtake P5 at the final tunnel exit, he swerved into me hard (I am on the outside, he accelerates to the right into a left-hand corner) and spins me off into the barriers, I again have damage and drop to P12, he continues with no pen... Finish in P13. GG

After last night's excellent racing it was a shame to end the week with 5 appalling races at Bathurst. 5 from 5 races I was escorted off the track, absolutely disgusting.

Here are just two examples. First isnodd as in my view you can see he is pushing me off but from his view i am unstable, regardless I've been given nowhere near enough room.

Then there's this piece of work who vehemently defended himself. So lets walk through this.

First he squeezes me super tight against the kerbs at the chase, I give him a ton of room through the second part of the chase so he knows I'm clean. I cede the position. Then he loses it at griffins and I go past entering the cutting, he bounces off walls and tags me and keeps the spot. I get yet another run on him (he qualified 8 tenths faster than me) into the chase, he does give me more room. I complete the pass but he gets a run into hell corner. I take a defensive line, he verstappens me off.

He failed to mention the earlier squeezing or the tag at the cutting, just focused on the final contact. I wasn't even trying to make the apex, just take a wideish line but he carried way too much speed, if i wasnt there he wouldn't have made the corner. I'm the one in the wall without fail though, every damn time.

It has to be asked what a SRB driver was doing in a room with 15 guys SRS?

Erm yeah, race A is definitely something I could camp out in, that car needs some taming 😁

Not sure where I’ll be this week, I want to race Bathurst but I think gr3 might have been better there.

Not sure if anyone experiencing this, but I keep getting this damn error in my qualifying, never in a race, really annoying - but see how I managed to finish the lap 🤣

Hmmmm, that was strange. That used to happen to me back in 2023 at Laguna Seca. I would be in the middle of a race and then all of a sudden, that same error message would pop up. That has to be annoying for you. Well it's not a big deal I guess. At least you weren't in the lead, then it would have mattered more. Good luck with the rest of this weekend with the racing. Hope the connection stays strong in a positive way.

Ey up all, I hope everyone is well.

Returning to the game after a long time away, I notice almost all my cars are in yellow or red for oil for some reason?

Can someone please remind me if this matters for Sport mode and I'll have to change the oil before using each?

Cheers!

It doesn't make a difference in sports mode when BoP is on, @Tidgney did a video on it.

For me personally be it psychological or something it is something I can feel in the way the car revs but lap time wise its not a thing or negligible

👍

Extremely debatable one mate 🤣

Welcome back 👍

I will change my oil if I see it’s normal but there could be a bop setting which equalises everything

Maybe it’s a placebo for me 😁

So I'm hearing it probably makes no difference but best to change it anyway to appease the Gods, gotcha! 👍

Hello friend I see I'm only half a second off you at Bathurst

Just hit a ceiling mate and with the content being pretty stagnant I lost interest. Combined with moving house, little one starting school last year, recovered from my injury so less time spent on the couch, you know how it goes...

Had a recent itch to scratch and been enjoying some runs, not much new to do mind so I'll likely hit the same ceiling again soon!

Still only 3 dailies and no new tracks? :grumpy:

Do hope you're all doing well though, it's great to see so many of the same names still active.

I did daily race C twice so far, both times the race was filled with brain dead players; ramming, dive-bombing, blocking, weaving and brake checking every chance they got…
The downside of having a D driver rating I guess, but it’s impossible to improve if you get put in sessions with such incompetent players… The thing is, they’re decently fast, they just have 0 driving etiquette…

Had some good racing on race A today, getting to grips with the car more now but I’m just not owning this one this week.

Doesn’t take away from the good racing on offer, I’ll take that Lancia Delta to race with this weekend!

Happy weekend all, enjoy the racing (and the heat😁)

Well it wasn’t first place but the top 3 split by 1/10th I’ll take! Especially in a semi stacked split 3/4 lobby!

Edit:
2 people in that race are currently 1 and 10th globally Ben (1) and Dreamcatcher (10th) respectively. I’ve been following their ghosts all week

Annoyingly they are my friends as well 🤣 so I’m always looking up!
