As I type this, I am grinding my teeth so hard that they're bleeding BUT credit where credit is due.... Well done @newmedia_dev as that is one heck of a lap for Race B! And also big respect to @Barney Da Dog - Sir 🧐

Took me at least 25 laps with the G70 (was using the Huracan before) to get down to my current PB but even so, my optimum is still 0.2s slower that Glen's actual time so again, well done. Also, ~!&*%~ 🤬😡👎

Anyway, if it helps anyone, since Daddy Wallbucks video is in VR, below is my regular, peasant-vision lap...

If it’s any consolation with the BoP changes I don’t think you can get down to the previous times, unless a new Meta emerges quickly but I doubt it.
Was it enough to make MR and FR cars competitive against the G70 or the GR.4 is still being a one make category?
I’m just about to go try a few, although I think Nurbs was a deliberate choice as it always favours 4WD cars in Gr4 because of the nature of the way you typically want the traction.

A better test will be a track like Myabi or DT Seaside I think.

Errr yeah, as I said before Nurbs isn’t the circuit for other drive trains, it’s still faster in the G70.

Arguably it’s better to drive as weight helps with traction and diff shuffling.

Digit was in one of my races in the Citroen….dont bother at least at Nurbs he went from the back and finished at the back.

I think PD have made a rod for themselves with GR4 is it’s hard to balance using the parameters they do (weight and power) it’s too simplistic when gearing is probably one of the biggest factors making the meta cars when all the weight is balanced and the power….

I just don’t think that their balancing system works with the player ability spread being honest.

You say that like I’m the hidden cousin secret!

But honestly, this week will be all what people know and that’s faster that some bop tweaking, next week we will see. There is no incentive for the top guys to change this week.
 
Did some more races today, but got hit hard on DR & SR on the GP Daily Race B, it really can be a killer if you dont race well which is very annoying. Penalties were a ****fest in the all encompassing Daily Race C. Still I tried and both races were decent.

Other than Glen has anybody else run a race B and seen the car mix? The G70 was nerfed more than the GTR which cannot hurt me but wondering if the WRX is viable? EDIT: Nope, it was nerfed too, how odd.

just G70 and gt-r, I've seen a couple WRX, that's about it, fast drivers in WRX. Stayed with him I was in a G70. Used the Mazda also.

P.S I just lapped NGP my PB 206.940 G70

Still enjoying my races at the Glen, racking up a few wins and having some fierce fierce races,

This morning against a A+ driver who was nearly in the 1.19s and I held my own, almost had him off the line, we both went side by side into T1 but I had to leave some space and he had the better line to ease past, but I kept within 4 tenths all race but just could not pass, actually needed to back off at the bus stop each lap so I could see what I was doing.

I’m hoping by the time a gr4 race comes back around in B I won’t notice the nerf and maybe get a few different cars to try out!

Well I did a few B's and it's still G70s and a few GTRs. Maybe a different track will give a more noticeable change in the times..

I wish the Ferrari had a bit more speed - even in the slipstream I still can't gain on whatever car is ahead.

Yeah I think NGP plays well to AWD cars, something more flowing hopefully sees the FR cars enter the picture. NGP is exit, exit, exit.....and.........exit.

I have been telling a new (Drive to survive era) F1 fan at work to go to Austria. She's been to Singapore and wants to go again, I keep saying the best race is Austria from a location and also viewing experience. No brainer imho.

Afternoon off and after front and back garden sort in the sun, I was ready for a beer and some races, all week I’ve been chasing my 1.20.988 at the Glen, unsuccessfully 😁

Prior to a race earlier, from nowhere I pulled this 1.20.5xx out, 12 secs from the end of qualifying 🤪

This is a peach like the recent Corolla race at trial mountain.
 
Anyone else get to A+ and realise "damn, I'm in a race with a load of Bs, I'm a target"

It's scary stuff. I think some of them know they just need to finish ahead of me regardless

My next race I'm pretty sure is when I go down to A again 😂 where I'll be in races with zero B ranked drivers. They only started appearing when I reached A+

I'm a little confused here. I'm currently C-rated DR and S-rated SR, just got a PSVR2 so the pace is a little slower than normal, till I find all my braking points again. Regardless, that doesn't matter. I just did a Daily Race C, starting from the back bc I didnt have the chance to put a qualifying time in, and finished in 6th, but my DR and my SR for some reason BOTH WENT DOWN. I wasn't caught up in any incidents, I actually avoided a lap 1 T1 incident unscathed, I got one track limits pen, and finished 10 places up from where I started. Surely none of that warrants a decrease in both SR and DR? If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated, because i have no idea what Polyphony is thinking on that one.

Sr went down because you got a penalty, that's how it is: all or nothing

If you're C rated and finished 6th, your DR rating might have gone down because you finished behind a load of D, E (or lower C) rated drivers. They took more points off you than you took from the drivers behind you (who may have also been ranked lower before the race), I think that's how it works. Might not be much in terms of points at all but the red arrow is annoying to see. Qualifying has zero impact on anything so gaining 10 places is sadly irrelevant (but also the SR in theory stops people barging through)

so its just a flawed system in general is what I'm gathering? nothing gets taken into account including positions gained, what the pen was for, etc.

It's an ELO-like system, with a straight exchange of points based on finishing position and points differences between drivers. If you're beaten by worse drivers, you lose more points to them.

SR isn't just penalties and big contact. Any car contact of any kind (car/car, car/scenery) or track limits breach, of any magnitude, can harm your SR.

ELO system actually makes sense, SR makes partial sense bc i get penalized for other drivers trying to either A: shove the car in a gap that isn't there and just ramming my car off line so they can pass, or B: just straight up not braking. I get SR penalized for incidents that I couldn't avoid because other drivers lack a quality called patience. Thank you for explaining it clearly, though, and apologies for the little rant, although I believe many others have felt this way before at one point or another.

SR is indeed a no-fault system. There's a thing in the What Is Sportsmanship video about avoiding people who are being dicks.

Never thought this could be a thing 😳 from like 2am - 7am on weekends, i am regularly in a group from DR A+ down to C, (badboy baldrick or similar was once an A+ and is the only name i remember.) there's a lot of respect mostly, like in the pre chat, in race - what's going on in front, is not visible for us normies from level B or lower, you should be to fast.

But a general problem i see, is the impossibility to overtake cleanly, if the participants match in DR. NgP is a great example, group 4 makes it perfect, it takes me ages to overtake before the little chicane, because i get out of the slip stream and i am like 3miles an hour "faster"
And me driving mostly like it is track day with my own car, i back off and settle behind. I get a short hazard lights (? both indicators on) from the one before me, because going through there side by side would slow us both down. Only way i see, is putting pressure till a mistakes happens.. The cars lack individuality, in gr. 3 a bit better, gr. 2 much better.

I never read any idea or explanation, why there is always one Meta for some time, except the Mazda 3 gr4, it was when it was introduced to the game... Why suddenly my lovely G70 was made meta?, any idea?

It’s the way the cars handle and put the power down ultimately.

GR3 they are closer but the top cars fall in to the same categories. Either longer geared or shorter geared and that’s what makes the difference for them.

With GR4 because the cars are so much slower [sic] the racing is going to be closer, also the players tend to pool a bit, this means taking the fastest most forgiving car, that’s typically going to be AWD/4 and the G70 is the best of them.

Edit: I’ve postulated a little more all night on your question.

And I think it boils down to 4 things.

1: the meta largely the most fastest car for a combo, not the best car but the one that’s easy to co fast consistently

2: What the top guys set times in, typically these are the fastest cars because they know pretty quickly, little bit of competitiveness comes in as well

3: Cyrus does some excellent anti, sub meta car laps and races so it’s not impossible, they do exist but less so in GR4

4: the metas are usually the easiest to drive (although the BRZ at Laguna securely wasn’t)

Personally I have 6k races online and have a strong feel for cars early on what’s gonna be quick, but lobbies differ and well no races are the same but ultimately you are better off keeping up than being a martyr. It gives you consistency with your peers and you can actually practice racing, lines and traffic etc.

Fairly mixed (fixed) DR event but I’ve been racing mainly DR B and a few A drivers and this one guy today, I just couldn’t beat. The races he wasn’t there I did win, but this capture was about as close as it got, started a couple of tenths behind and finished a couple of tenths behind 😁

I’ve plundered 15 wins this week, leaderboard looking really strong 👍

Fairly mixed (fixed) DR event but I’ve been racing mainly DR B and a few A drivers and this one guy today, I just couldn’t beat. The races he wasn’t there I did win, but this capture was about as close as it got, started a couple of tenths behind and finished a couple of tenths behind 😁

I’ve plundered 15 wins this week, leaderboard looking really strong 👍


I've had that guy in quite a few races this week (presumably when his SR had dropped a bit), won every race he was in, usually by quite a big margin.

It has been a great event though - at my level (C/S) I've won probably 2 out of every 3 races I've entered, and most of those I haven't won have been because of fast B rated drivers like this guy.

I've tried all week to improve my QT though, and just cannot get any closer to you guys ahead of me in my friends list!

These sorts of races keep coming in race A, it’s becoming what I wait for each week before gr4! 😁

I race at strange times of the day where I get all sorts of lobbies, easy and hard, but defo an absolute peach of a weeks racing 😂

No racing for me for a while, due no internet - a fishing boat has wrecked the cable between here and mainland UK. They think it may be repaired by the end of next week!

I said I could go quicker and I managed a 5 lap sessions before the race.

Can share the replay both in game and in VR if anyone is interested.

This whole race hinges on T1 or just staying out of trouble.
