Well, my bad for that comment without reading the article before 😬

Great guide and walkthrough as always @Tidgney
Keep up the hard work and helping us all mere mortals. The aliens wouldn't need to watch them, just us that are struggling out there every week on the tarmac.

Good day at Sardegna.

Very fast racing there and some time still to find, I’m happy with first day 1.42.5xx but that’s a second off being right in the mix so I don’t think the wins are going to flow like last week at the Glen, but this is certainly the place I’ll be racing all week.

Started out in the Porsche because it’s dependable but since I saw the Viper getting itself in there I had to switch, that car is a beast. Not so keen on the short shifting it but it’s lightning quick on the straights.

Let’s go!

What's this?? A classic open wheel race that's not relegated to a meaningless Race A?? Are PD feeling OK? That's 2 races in 3 weeks that actually interest me (the previous one being the RB Jr's at Daytona). I don't think that's ever happened in GT7...

Anyway, I did a league race with this same combo before, and the F3500 still benefits from quite a bit of downforce, even at Monza. I believe at default it's maxed out at the front anyway though. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact downforce setups I used for that race, but hopefully I haven't overwritten them.

wait so to clarify. Race A is the road cars at Sardegna, B is idfk, and C is F1 cars at Monza? Since WHEN DOES POLYPHONY COOK?

nevermind I was wrong on the first two. regardless. POLYPHONY COOKED THIS WEEK

thank you very much, i will be checking these weekly now!

Starting my first week in DR B for a while, this is gonna be FUNNNN!
Congratz!! What's the highest you've ever gotten up too in DR terms? I think the best I've ever done was get up to a mid-C level, but then it plummeted back down to a low C/high D. But I didn't get bent out of shape about it too bad. We all have different skill levels so it's normal. Enjoy the races this week, and let us know how some of your races went, if you feel like it.

Here's thsi weeks guide! For those wondering about the downforce, the default downforce feels the quickest for me.. Although I would add wing if you are struggling with the rear on the exit.

I found that out the hard way! Went minimum downforce passed your ghost on the straight and then promptly had to brake and slow for the chicane at like the 200 yard board 🤣🤣🤣

Sardegna for me too this week - got my fastest quali lap in the Viper, but I prefer the G70 in the race, made up places in all 3 races I ran this afternoon. Only 1 race was won by a Viper, 458s won the other 2.

I tried one Race A too - all seemed a bit pointless, with a train of Porsches all bump drafting for the whole lap. A couple of people pulled out of the draft (presumably in an attempt to overtake the cars in front), and it was just like they'd thrown out an anchor - a huge reduction in speed, and no way to catch up with the pack again!

Having said that, it seemed a bit less pointless when, much to my surprise, I won! Was in 4th place up until the final corner, the first 3 all went high, I went low and passed them all before the line 😁

shortest run to the line!

I wondered , if sony/pd gets sponsored and makes a car a bit better, but this could cause a scandal.
cough the Mazda 3 Gr4 -cough

The reality is it’s hard to balance cars across various model years, manufacture specs and desires (read they all want their cars to be the best) add in the simplistic balancing system (power and weight)….sure all the cars can do laptimes needed but with humans using all manor of controller types and skill levels. We aren’t all Sophy, or tour drivers that can manage it.

Well none of the drivers on here are Sophy I can say that much. This is pretty much how my day has gone with race A. A lot of people door bashing, and just cloning you out the way for no reason and then the game gives you a penalty for someone else's crash. Sigh.

Yeah, I have better ways of spending 5 mins than on that race.

It’s not even meme without the nitro. Just a bunch of Porsches badly bump drafting.

I love racing at SSRX, man I'm missing a lot of fun, heat and action. It's better than Northern Isle Speedway. There, you're going around in circles, plus it's boring doing 20 laps of doughnuts. I do not think it's even been used as a track in the sport mode races. Nor was it in GTsport back then.

I bring you a graph! Here's the stats on leaderboard size.

Credit: The 2023 numbers are from my post here back when I was tracking it. The 2024-onwards numbers are from DG EDGE. I don't have numbers for the gap in the middle, but I doubt anything groundbreaking happened then.

The numbers are for Gr.3 only, because there are 15k-20k players out there who just play the Gr.3 race every week, whichever race it is. There's no useful data if you don't control for that, it's by far the biggest independent variable.

I got a 2 second penalty in the MEME race when a car bounded off of the wall and came directly in my line and I hit them hard. I found that amusing. But I'll be focusing my week at Sardegna as I dare not try Monza in the Formula Cars. Too much for me to handle.

1:42.7 458

All top 5 and 10'S blew my 1st win of the week! Ugh!!!!!!

We'll get them tomorrow! Still figuring out the track, a lot of time left of the table, and some braking points also

Interesting night in race B. I was up to speed fairly fast so tried several cars.

G70: feels lazy and God i hate that engine note. 43.3

Viper: no idea how people drive this thing, just a weird car that is sorta floaty and slidey, zero feedback from the neutered engine and transmission, just an awful thing. 43.2

Lancer: very short gears, good front end. 43 flat Ran a race in it, started p14 in a AS room, finished p8 mostly by keeping nose clean.

Ford GT: suspected this may be quick, I love this car, turns in so nicely, I can trust the rear end to some degrees and that engine note and gear slam is sublime. 42.7 but 42.4 optimal. Ran a race with same result as thr lancer one, seems to struggle on acceleration but has excellent top end. The tc (tc2 in race, tc1 qualy) engages through the final corner, it is very quick, like a blink, but hurts.

Was about to wrap up when I noticed a few beetles in the top 100 so gave it a whirl. Good god, 2nd lap a 42.3. My optimal is a 41.9 but kept binning it going too hard but it has serious pace. I suspect itll get eaten in ravea though no?

I spent some laps at Meme race and, even if I could go faster than the '23.2 I posted, it is lil boring this time (like it never was before). Bear with me, guys. Last time the Meta was the AMG Merc and 2nd meta the Huayra (I ended 48th overall, 8th among Huayras). The Merc needed the outside line whilst the Huayra liked more the "shorter as possible" internal line. Both were in their ways sort of challenging. The actual line on the Porsche isn't challenging at all. No shivers, no nothing, just boringly keep your right tire near the yellow line and it's done. Just an observation, but without the risk I'm less interested to invest more time in it.
Sardegna is the real deal this week for me, since PD "listened" to my request/whish. At '41.9 for now, with a large room for improvements on the "New Supra" that the Viper seems to be. Enjoy your racing week, guys.

Edit: Forgot to mention the silly "always tap the brake after 5 sec of hitting 416 km/h" to avoid overrevs... basically the return straight is driven looking at the tacho instead of the road.

Nice! I read this and was considering the beetle, I raced it in gt sport, had this grease livery of black and fire 😁

But decided to stick with the Viper and couldn’t quite get into the 1.41s twice hit a 42.035 then another agonising 42.032 😁

Need to learn to go slower to be faster 🤣 in the corners.

I’m racing A & A+ being so far up in BS and it’s tough going, finishing virtually where I start apart from a few incident victims.

I think we are in a similar position, fighting for podiums and wins in high B rooms and mid pack madness in A rooms. Seems we have both found some pace recently tly, though in my case it may be the tracks as I have always run well at ngp sardegna A.

Not sure if I should race with the beetle (gonna get monstered on the straights no? Or this puppy? I do love this livery on this car.

For VR users, it doesnt get any better than this weekly C!
I just hope that as the week goes on the turn 1 heroes cease on their effort to win the race on the first turn

Time for just 2 races last night and I was punted to shadow realm on L1-T1 in both races.
The first race was a total disaster because I also discovered that there are some sort of invisible oil stains throughout Ascari

Lesson learned and in between races I did a few tweaks on my wheel settings trying to have a better feel of the rear (im not touching aero settings on the car yet)

On the second race some savage from the back punted me again on T1 and I went from P3 to P8/P9 (dont remember exactly) but this time I felt enough confidence with the car to really push it at my limits and I made such a comeback in a tough lobby.

P3 should have been my final position but on the last lap two drivers in front of me enraged in a silly fight at the second chicane and I had the track for myself.

I wont be moving from Monza for the rest of the week 😎

Well that’s a turn up, have starting 10-13th with all A & A+ drivers and suddenly in a field of just BS, I’m pole by 3 tenths! Couple behind me jumped me from miles back in T1 but one crashed out the other was surprisingly fast, uploaded the last couple of laps, but managed the win!

Following race, back mixed with A and started 8th 🤣

Yes Chris! That's the correct mentality for Sport Mode IMO.

I've spent the past couple of months watching my DR plummet as I've been spending less time practicing, avoiding Gr.3/4 races and generally taking a chilled-out approach to my race-sim habits. I feel it's normal that I am getting bested by players who are dedicating more time and energy to the game than I am.

Most importantly, I've continued to enjoy myself throughout! I wasn't fast at Daytona in the Red Bull Juniors, but it was a good combo. The return of the non-ranked Race A meant i spent last week focusing on getting my SR back to 99 (this is my main frustration with lower lobbies, so many lost safety points from others' clumsiness or bad race-craft).

I've only had one Race C so far.. messed up my tyre selection AND copped a 1.5sec penalty for a false start. Still managed a podium. You can see the replay on my showcase, it's titled "Attempted Self-Sabotage".
