Can't believe I've gotten my first DR B, Race C win at Deep Forest Sunday evening in the RCZ, all the dumb luck finally went my way for once. I am not chasing wins at all, I really forced myself to take Luc Nodaro's "go race" advice with a track/car combo I was quick at before, did the no tire change plan, and had good results finishing in the points all week, when not punted and spun at least. That's all I wanted. This progressed into getting an unbelievable for me QT 1.6s off the top time, one pole position(that cursed my race lol) , and finally a win. Who knows when the next one will come and one had been potentially rammed out of my grasp earlier too, which made it more sweet.
I've been playing GT since before dualshocks and am super stoked to race high speed ring online as a first for me. Having trouble yet laughing at much higher ranked wall riding T2 drivers, I am much quicker through there clean, but it can be difficult to pass them back if they get by. Still a super fun race I can't wait to do more of.
Tried a few races at Laguna this morning in the 4C. Got a P2 in the last one.

How long are you all running the softs for? I could get ~7 laps before I felt the pace fall off. Of course, this will probably depend on the car (and one’s driving style).

Seems they are ~2 seconds/lap quicker so you want to maximize the time on them.

Ps wish they’d made refueling an issue to spice up the strategy!
I think I was in the paddock at the historics somewhere with you at the historics a few weeks back, it was great fun to see some of the cars from the game including the literal exact Honda RA272. Spotted you in a race with you there tonight, now we're on the other side of the fence, sort of, kind of, virtually. Some one else was cranky with me, but I think I had an honest run up to the corkscrew and a very clear as day move to the outside where he left me no room.
Thanks all for the great advice getting faster I've been absorbing here, sometimes it takes a minute for me to apply it to any effect, but it does all add up over time.

My challenge for the week - try and get a clean race bonus in Race A! 😂

Haven't managed it so far, even when I managed a P2 to P1 race with zero contact with any other car - difficult to avoid that, or barrier contact, when running in the pack.

Goodness knows what it was like for the few hours when it was a wet race......

That’s quite true of a lot of the tracks on the game…where the proper line makes people behind think you are opening a gap for them….the reality is that by the time they get there that gap (also known as “apex”) won’t be there any more

[...]
No, I don’t mean like that. That’s just general grasp of race craft.

My point here being that when someone lacks the knowledge of how to properly drive the track and is slow — usually you just naturally leave these people behind and disappear but at HSR they’re just properly in the way, unlike other tracks. A messed up line in T2 and the final T6 often blocks the correct and quick line because they drift off from where they enter.

I’m still struggling like hell in race B with the Porsche to put a real smooth lap together, without over braking and sliding in, accelerating too fast and wiggling or just that last corner, improved my time by half a tenth to 1.53.506 but twice I lost about 2-3 tenths in one of the above, I’m going for a 1.52.999 🤣🤣

You got this! It took me some time also! Just focus on being smooth, that's what I told myself, I used a lot of 1st gear and just coasting in and keeping the momentum, going, and shifting into 2nd or 3rd on the apex! I've found these helpful

Sorry I'm still new to this YouTube deal

Yeah my optimal is 53.4 but I have been like half a second up on that mid sector then messed up. It's an incredibly tricky track and it is very easy to lose a ton of time. In the races last night, i struggle to match A and A+ guys through turns 1 and 2 and also struggle getting on the gas early enough on the uphill left at the end of sector 1. I am an absolute demon through the awkward tight left before the tunnel though, often gaining on A+ drivers there.

I was there with my son! Paddock at Monterey is so good. That F1 display was stunning, the Honda next to a Lotus 49, next to a Vanwall! Friend was racing a 356, and someone else I know was in a Lotus Cortina which raced in the first Daytona 24!

My son and I also checked out the pit garages only to find Chevy debuting the new GT7 concept car on a Sim. We both raced it at Laguna!

Hope to see you at Laguna virtually this week.

Bro, I started the video, but, with music it's a little hard for me ( I play without music).
Play without music helps, mainly when u need to rear what your tires are doing.

Even though I’m knackered after work I did so a few laps and was really pleased with the improvement. Moved up to 182 on the global leaderboard.

You make it look so effortless, but that is smooth I have to say. I’ve got my VR headset just sitting on my shelves I just can’t get stuck to it.

1.52.2xx mate, that’s awesome.

@DannyPorter yeah you have a lot going on, on screen, I have the braking area but nothing else, maybe I need to ditch that, I do spend enough time racing weekly to pick up proper braking points 🤣 I can’t race with music either 😁

I hope to get slowly better by the weekend, there some things I can take from all your videos so thanks guys, maybe I’ll upload one later 😁

The racing is good this week, after last week when I literally got torpedoed last corner last lap someone actually hit my side and then waited 😳 couldn’t believe it 🤣

Seems like I am one of the very few who is not a fan of the French manufacturers 🤣 Not giving up, though!🫡

I see someone in P10 on my LB who also has a good mind, but seems like P6 is fuzzy and I cannot seem to read what the Username is.... Must be rubbish or something 🤣

Yeah I agree maybe, it's time for us, to ditch the things we don't need anymore! Thank you for the tips man!!!!! Minimalist is the way to go! Ik most of the braking points also!

It’s just a poor quality screenshot from you 90s era PlayStation setup most likely.

I knew you’d be more about the bucket and spade of the sand pit than the real fantasy track and harder to drive cars.

Honestly that’s a bloody cracking time for the constant LSD slip machine!

I am not being goaded in to trying at Laguna!

I only had 1 hour today so far this week, so most likely will do a couple more laps this evening and then actual racing tomorrow. G70 is a bit unpredictable in exactly 2 corners, the rest, you know before how it's going to react so just need to prepare. Been chasing a chost of 1:26:5 with a 0.3 additional gap (I hate it when ghost are too close) and I keep up or even catch up right up to the corkscrew entry, then I lose time so at least I know my weak-spot 🫣😓

Would love to try Race B as well tomorrow but feckin hate RH tires on Gr3 cars... Don't know why they do it since it such a short race with no actual degradation so just let us go all out!

Finally got a win on HSR with a Viper no less. Still don't have a clue about how best to drive the car or track so was getting reeled in at the end. Quite chuffed with that.

I’ve been pondering whether to do any of these races, good win though, when I saw it was rain I was like no thanks 😁 but I was only playing GT6 on Sunday with my 6yr old and my old DFGT on the ps3 at HSR, teaching him to race it 😁

With the race just be aware that the Alfa and the Megane are a little better to drive on degrading tires the G70 is a tire shedder

Cheers mate! Will definitely keep it in mind when I try out the races!

Happy with where I am leaving it for now as it is family time 🤣

!:26's are in my sights for sure!

Merry Xmas and good luck everybody! 🎅🎁🎄

Thanks Glen for the compliment. When someone, whose times with those of Barney and our Maltese friend were my benchmarks for long time before I "klickt", acknowledges that I'm fast; that"s filling my heart of joy and pride. I've therefore some advise for @NevilleNobody @brockie @DannyPorter
Follow always a ghost that is in the top 10 of global leaderbord. Before that, do not just look at his replay, study it. I make it play as a loop first, then I use the stop motion to exactly discover the braking points, trailbraking points, etc.. When found, I look for the markers that allow to start braking at that particular point. Tig's guides are already a gold mine in that regard, but some aliens differ a bit from his markers (sometimes I end up using the revs and engine noise at those points when I don't find a suitable marker). While driving you'll never look for those markers directly, you'll use your peripheral view whilst focused on where you wanna place the car (that's one of the most important habit to learn and develop for evident reasons; and why ditching visual aids is so important).
Keep the delay at 0 for the beginning. That helps to learn how to execute last corner before the start and sector 1. If or when the ghost is impeding your view cause it's too near, put it at 0.1 delay. Personally I never use the reset option. It gives me a better info on how I'm doing near the end of lap. I.e. last Friday, at Sardegna I started from a '52.8 and finished the practice at '51.6 (at '52.8 the ghost was quite far to see, at '51.6 it was already in sight). Keep the ghost delay at 0.1 till you're thinking that you'll not be able to squeeze more time, then switch to 0.2 delay to gain that time you didn't know was there to shave away. By the time you'll start to really improve (like it was for me), you'll find that you're actually almost "racing" against the ghost. Last, but not least, replicate your best lap alone (without ghost) in a series equal or major of the race's lap number (vital, otherwise there's no pace, just a "perfect" lap). If you match your ideal alone in that series of laps even being slightly slower than your best, job it's done anyway.

Edit: I'm maybe fast, but ridiculously slower at editing posts 🤣

I really am getting tired now and want to spend some time with the wife, this is the best I can manage for today. And it’s not a bad result either, DR up SR was maxed anyway.

I’m at the office tomorrow so probably not going to improve till the weekend depending on what the new TT is going to be (I suspect the avantine but that is a pure guess based on only it was in the update and not featured)

Impressive time with that awful car but good luck at the races if you dare to try it.
I dont see the softs lasting more than 5 laps here.

By the way, 1:26s with the Genesis seems like Alien territory!
The ceiling is not that far away looking at the filtered leaderboards (you are P10 right now)

I can't work out the best way to drive it either, although it doesn't seem to matter too much in race!

I had a couple of wins yesterday, and another two today, including one where half of the field were A DR (I'm a pixel or two from the bottom of B) and the guy on pole was A+ - he didn't fare too well on the first lap, and ended up finishing last of the 8 finishers!

I finished second in my other race, and did prove that a clean race bonus is possible 😆:-

That’s interesting, I never used to reset my ghosts but now I do in the later parts of my Bumper cam days but essential in VR

You can see my lap earlier the 1s gap by the end of the lap is to far for me to learn anything.

I think it depends on where your pace is for a given track but I’m learning more having the ghost closer now I’m trying to find the 1/100ths but getting up to speed I wouldn’t need to reset the ghost.

Just an interesting thing that we differ on this but I’m VR and you are bumper so that probably makes sense for what feels better
