Hello all racers! I've been away, getting ready for my wife's surgery in a few weeks! Hope all is well, and hopefully spec III is way better and we don't get the same combos! Been disappointed the last couple of weeks!
Hope your wife is ok and the surgery goes well.

We will see if Spec 3 delivers, honestly and not being cynical when you look at Spec 2 apart from weekly’s and the dashboard I don’t think it really added a whole load of usefulness or fun….

We will see of course but I’m reserved about it quite honestly. Best hope is they split the hoppers with different car preselects (what it looks like they have been testing for a while) with a couple more daily race slots. But that’s more speculation on having more curated races recently.

Nobody knows so we will have to wait and see.

Quick summary too,

Suzuka will be fun but I think it will be a side swipe fest, I may well just try and put some decent times down,

Road Atlanta was better than I thought, the medium tyres is a nice surprise and 6 laps is always better than 4 😆

Watch the video, from lap 4 where it was hotting up, I went in a little hot at the end of straight and luckily didn’t wreck anyone and could hand it back with us all square, but I might have lit the fuse a little 😬

Could be another tough week

After Le Mans at Nations my SR unfortunately had dropped to A. Took me five races in daily race B to get it back to S. Some of those lobbies (DR high B) were madness. Crazy how in one race roughly have the lobby was shoving people off at every opportunity. I hope the races back at SR S will be better.

I am slowly getting the hang of Road Atlanta and actually enjoyed my races despite the shoving and punting.

I tried some daily races. It’s been a long time. And oh my do I suck these days!

I did a couple race A with the Abarth. First race I came towards the end although surprisingly I started in pole. Second race I started in P2 and finished P2 so that was OK. But that race I found a bit boring so I went on and took a look at B.

I was trying with the RCF. I feel pretty good in QT and I thought I had a reasonable time with a 1:19 something. But then I joined a race. Oh dear P 14 to start.

That race had a lot of activity going on ahead of me which I benefited from but then I didn’t do so well myself. There were times where I get on really well with the RCF. And then there are times where I’m trying to take a corner and the car seemingly just doesn’t want to turn. I’ll lose a lot of time.

That race I ended up coming in P12 so I actually gained a couple of spots. Still not where I want to be.

Next race I also started P14. That one I got up to 10th spot and then got down to last, and then I was racing at the back and I thought I came in P15 with a DNF behind me, but apparently somebody else must’ve got a big penalty cause I finished P14 where I started.

So overall not an enjoyable experience. I think that’s usually my MO when it comes to Road Atlanta. I like it for time trials, but I really don’t care for it in racing. It’s not helped by the fact I appear to be driving at a mid B level in a field of A and A+.

Got my Daytona time down to 1:46.659, then amongst the few races I ran last night I had the best time parked on the bumper of a dirty driver, not bump drafting but feinting moves every chance, keeping the pressure on til he did get himself a .5 sec penalty on lap 7. I end up well clear of him, then see in the replay this put him back into further trouble ending with a revenge punt from the guy he pushed wide four times. I end up 6th with him in 10th. I actually conked out on the couch watching the replay repeatedly.

The Abarths back at Suzuka is fantastic and I didn't run these often enough the last time around. Plus a DR off race A is like racing school to me. They are often slower cars giving a little more time to anticipate and react to what's going on while going wheel to wheel without tripping about where I finish.

Turn 1 heroes have had me shying away from any race B for some time now and C this week is just forgettable.

Good Morning Everyone, Returned back to GT7 ~3 weeks ago after a 2 year hiatus.

Currently 1XXth and .6XX off the top of leader board. 11/4/25 0200USPST

When watching the top 1-3 drivers im seeing an "exploit"(i use this term very lightly) or expanding of the track limits in turn 1, I can reasonably achieve this line probably 1/10 attempts and it set me up through sector 1 in the blue of my optimal over .5xx. Has anyone noticed this in previous events at RedBull Ring?

The players cars and mine included in these instances are well over the sausage exiting T1 easily 1-2 meters and by having the cars inside wheels return to the racing surface before the end of the painted curbs this doesnt register as a penalty, at least not every go at it. It gives me a unique feeling that is may be due to the cars weight transfer dictating that the inside wheels are in the air?

I'm imaging drawing a line from top of bottom to rim and if it travels beneath the car and intersects the track within track limits we are ok?

Are the penatly line acutally exagerated 1-2 meters beyond the sausage?

Is there a better way to accuratly test this than just running flyers until the RNG gives you a penalty break? (saw this commonly at daytona last week in Gr.3 through the bus-stop)

I've always struggled with consistency of working these "exploits" in GT games but its obvious to reach my goal of being US #1 and top #50 world this is the performance quo.

It's something to do with the angle you cross the track limit on and how far down the exit you are. In VR you can get a better sense of it (the replays aren't 100% accurate) but its definitely inconsistent to recreate it each lap.

Sometimes, you think "That has got to be a penalty", and its fine or you think, "I was well in....what!!!"

It is a problem every time we race at RBR, it was much more frustrating in the Gr4 Lancer a little while ago or every time there is a TT there.

Edit: @Tidgney has commented on this before

And if you search there are a number of threads and posts about the same thing

I'm done with Race B. Firstly, even with RM tyres I don't find much grip. Because of the 1000% increase in ratings, I believe negative ratings are as big. Because of sector 1 being so twisty & a bit narrow, it's easy to get punted or make a mistake which heavily affects the DR/SR ratings. I like Atlanta but just not enjoying the limited Gr. 3 cars there.

Now coming to the good news.....Race C is so much fun as in keeping the competitive nature of the users that we're racing with. I must've raced about 4 times in Race C & every race apart from being clean, was also super tight. In the first race I was battling for 10th & was racing closely with two other cars right upto the finish. Plus the track is wide enough in sectors 1 & 2 where we can take different lines. Most of the times, it's a G70 fest with the odd GT by Citroen or Atenza cars to mix it up. I drove two races with my favorite Mazda3 which is unconventional choice but it was fun. The G70 on the whole is more controllable but Mazda3 is faster. Because of it being a FF, if driven well, it's quite handy in the turns.

Race C is my go to race of this week. But still wish there was pit strategy option like we had in DT a few backs with Gr. 3 cars where You could start on RM or RH tyres with 1 pit stop mandatory to switch tyres. Oh man, it would've been loads of fun here.

I was wondering the same once. I think the lancer was a meta, that's how long back in time it was. I could follow their line without getting penalty by not accelerating the time i am really off track but, that caused me to lose more time than a good entrance and exit would.
Pro tip for people who care for their ranking or simply are afraid of T1 rammers. You can go straight and turn right behind any colored lines and return to track after all colors on the ground are gone (right before the grass begins) I really didn't lose much time, definitely less than being pushed aside.

Hey Uday from India, we had a few races against each other. Before last week and the week before that,, you drove the tt.
...
I don't know where i am supposed to overtake even a much slower driver at Watkins Glenn in a gt3 racer. The long straight, yes sure, but that's only possible if they make a slight mistake or didn't hit the apex in the slippery right hander before that,..?
The last to weeks i started monday on dr c, on Wednesday i was Dr B Scratching at the holy grail and by Sunday I am back at the bottom. And honestly i had it all, easy wins for my ego, tough side by side (once through COD @170 kmh, not that fast but that's how it works) and getting pushed but i decided to take revenge most of the times.
I am still at 1:21 @ Watkins but haven't done much laps. And i am finally fast in that Porsche 😊 love the looks but was always slow... BUTGuys? I drive exactly the same time with Bb -2 and bb +3.

By the way, why are we treated like kids, who have no idea if setting up a suspension. Honestly, this is a racing game and we are never allowed to adjust our rides? Why.

I managed to improve my time at Road Atlanta (really sorry I don’t have the VR recording, the PS5 every times I tried to save recent gameplay it was saving clips of dragon trail last week?🤷‍♂️) but…

I did do a chase and bumper cam split screen of the lap using the in game replay (but the lap was me driving in VR!)

TC0 ABS: Default

*also annoyed at myself as it was a .17 lap but I tensed up in the last sequence :(

A lil one obout ABS. For long time I've had the ABS "blinking" on straits, out of corners and in any case always without touching the pedal. That was making me lose 1 or 2 tenths per lap on a regular basis, so I made my mind and accept the handicap, trying to live with it. I thought it was a glitch from the pedal calibration or dust on the potentiometer, but I learned just last weekend it wasn't. It was instead my controller, sitting on the sofa whilst charging. In fact, every lil bump or kerb inducing FFB vibrations was actually "triggering" the L2 trigger. So after 1 entire year of scratching my head on how circumvent the issue (f.i. exiting corners "pulling" the brake pedal as max), I now leave the controller charging with the R2/L2 triggers "in air".
Problem solved.

Oh dear, so your qualifying times are going to be even faster now then...... 😂

I've done similar before - I now have triggers etc disabled on the controller. Have had many a race ruined by a Jack Russell standing on a controller 🤣

Today I managed to play 8 Race C's. I managed to win 1 race, get a podium in one, top 5 in two & the rest average to bad outings. I keep shuffling between G70 & Mazda3 cars. Both have their merits. If the G70 has a small disadvantage when compared to the Mazda3 it's the top speed which is still marginal. Plus, the G70 gets more nervous over the sausage kerbs when compared to the Mazda3.

The Mazda3 being a FF car is very stable & can tale the kerbs with might. It has great top speed which is helpful if fighting with G70s all around. The biggest drawback is the understeery nature of the car but I don't mind that. I was as of now seeing a lap guide in Mazda3 around RBR to understand braking & gear shift references.

As for the racing, don't know why some users get rubbed the wrong way even if there is a small touch which in simple terms is a racing incident. Even when going through turns or over kerbs, the cars can get nervous resulting in touch or bump which users think otherwise & want to play bumper cars.

Man that’s race B is a real seat of the pants job in gr3, I’ve jumped ship into the BMW M6 after seeing Glen’s video, improved my time a little to 1.19.4xx

It’s a nice flowing circuit and good racing when not two wide 😁

Also got a decent time in race A, in the 19s too but waiting til I’m in DR B to have anymore races because that’s a little fierce at the moment, but just love that little monster of a car, the Deep forest race was great too

You're lucky if you only get 2 wide - I've had 3 and 4 wide this afternoon 🤣

A bit late to the party this round, did some laps late last night at Road Atlanta but to be honest, been super busy with work in preparation for a 3 week-long work trip starting this Saturday, so no GT7 for a while... 🫤 Only saw earlier this afternoon that Race C was with Gr4 cars (turned off all social media since Sunday night as really need to concentrate for this project) but decided it was worth taking an hour break just now...

Was worth it 🥳😁

Will try and do some races late tonight as doubt will have time before the trip! Good luck everyone, except someone in particular! 😂 You can go lick a used ashtray instead 🤣😘

Yeah, right on! Nobody likes that guy anyway!

Enjoy you punishing hours working, while secretly resenting players faster than you who are improving with every lap.

Maybe we can get an AI version of you in your absence, I’d call him B Spec Techno, probably be faster than you as well

;)

Beenbusy with work but just jumping on to say the Fiat race is fun and just what I needed this week given my schedule. I does drive a bit weird though, like the front and rear are not connected, it sorta wobbles a bit here and there.

If I remember right it’s 4th gear all the way 🤣 accelerating in 2nd makes it pull towards the tracks edge like a dodgy Tesco trolley!
