I'm suffering from this at the moment. I am trying to hang on to my DR by a thread, and I seem to a consistent victim of bad luck and bad choices.
I'm ok with "aggressive" moves since that's racing. Outright punting people off track though is something that should be avoided, especially at the higher DR levels. And yet, some people don't bother with their brakes.
Fingers crossed that my luck turns around soon.
For you, and I say this only for you is you probably aren’t quite back to the pace you need to be, not through forced effort but flowing back up to the pace, also probably a bit tense and over worrying about that DR.
Just relax, race the track and be fair either one is good racing and you know it.
Don’t try to hard.
Yes it’s super frustrating isn’t it. I’m new to the game and worked really hard to get to C just to get punted off so many times I’m back in D now just time trialing from P1 to get back to C
This is a you problem, and ill explain why.
The thing people forget is that pace isn’t tied to DR or SR letters, it’s tied to ability and thinking, and all that thinking is, how “early can I brake smoothly to lift, turn and accelerate” that’s speed, racing where you can’t escape the other people turns in to Mario kart.
Work on your qualifying times and car control and you will be out of those lobbies in a flash, it’s honestly just about learning pace and situation reading the rest just happens.
I’ve got 3 accounts that all had to go through those lobbies and the easiest way early on is to just practice being fast and by fast, being a lot faster than D/C pace which is a magnitude typically of a a few seconds.
I do a couple of things where some of my inputs/moves are conscious ones:
- Happens quite a lot when a faster driver is behind me because he didn't qualy as fast as my time or didn't want to / he got punted by some driver. It becomes clear he's faster based on how fast he's closing in on me. Instead of fighting for that position or blocking him, I let him go by using left or right indicator. That way I don't waste precious tyre grip or time because defending or going off line is time wasting at the end. All this is applicable in the starting stages of the race only.
- It happens often that drivers ahead of me (such as a group of 2-4 cars) are trying their best amongst themselves to block or overtake each other. In doing so, they show subtle hints of aggressiveness or poor sportsmanship. In this case, I don't try to get close to them & watch the proceedings from a little distance away. More often than not, one or more of them will go overboard and spin or go off track. That's when I seize the opportunity. Better be safe than get caught up in their volatile acts.
Good advice, if not a little wordy for most people.
To follow on from this, race the track not the players and you’ll gravitate upwards.
