I only raced the 'mandatory' Tokyo layouts in order to complete the single player menu's. Don't know if I ever raced this daily race C layout before. The Tokyo tracks never appealed to me.

That being said, I had some fun today in setting a quali lap. After about an hour I now have a 1:58:1. A high :57 should be possible.

As a B driver I often take the apex too narrow, or I over shoot it. At this track you can only go too wide on the inside of the track. Too narrow and you bump the wall clumsily. Cool feeling to get your car as close as possible to those walls.

Tomorrow I'm going to try some races.

Of course, Audis are Avants beemers are touring and let’s be very clear an M5 touring is just as desireable as an RS6 Avant!!
Too bad cars like the M5 are so obese nowadays (like most cars sadly). A few generations ago they were much lighter. I'll have more fun in an BMW M2 I think.

The M3 touring is the sweet spot to be fair, I agree the RS6 and the M5 are fast as hell but they aren’t nimble.

The M2 competition is probably a good shout shout but it’s not an E30 M3 or E36 dynamically, it’s to good at making speed, almost numb.

The same as a Focus MK1 RS or Clio Cup are much better than the later things, progress is progress and also lifestyle I guess, but being the fastest doesn’t make them them
Most cynically rewarding.

Cars these days are prioritising speed and comfort (rightly so) over handling, my wife’s x3 3.0d sport could match my cayman or M140 easily with a lot less drama.

Speed is being replaced with involvement sadly.

Back to winning ways :D

#274

I pulled an over under move. I figured he would block, because that seems to be the new thing, so I drew him down to the pit wall making him think I would dive down the inside. At the last possible moment, I switched to the outside knowing full well it was too late for him to hit the apex, I threw it into the gap and came out as clean as can be, even though he clipped my rear bumper.

I'll probably hang out here for the week until I get my feel back.

Thanks Tidgney, you have helped me no end again and today I cracked a Q time of 1:18.659 in Race B by following you and your wise words. Sat 135th world wide 😳
To say I’m chuffed with that time is an understatement as I am a Low/mid DR B racer.
🥳🥳🥳
No worries, I love making the video with the racing and guide aspect (It's like the perfect video that encapsulates me) so I'm glad it's been of help! Great time that 1:18.6! Really is a solid effort, well played!

If You love Tokyo, You'll enjoy Race C as much as I do. The Meta out there is the Supra. RH & RM tyre strategy makes it interesting because You can pit on lap 1 or 11 (as pit lane is in the middle of the lap). You'll be amazed with the whole pitstop scenario. I find it real cinematic to say the least.

Willow Springs I haven't tried but will do so as I love Gr. 4 cars. I think the preferred cars there are M6 & G70 as expected.
Pit Lane was cool - like something from Tokyo Drift! got a 3 second penalty first time round as I didn't realise the white line started so close to the wall (and came in at twice the speed I should have!!!)

Was a fun race though, enjoyed the setting and the night time!

What
Done a couple of Daily Bs P2 starts to P2 finishes my QT is only 1:18.7 so not massively quick but quick enough for cusp B back in to A territory.

Speaking of which, it’s been a long slog to start my DR recover but finally managed it.

happened to the DR in Dec? driving whilst under the xmas party influence?

Well done on getting it back up!!!

I had a crack at A. It’s been a while since I was ahead of Glen 😁

Got this time chasing a ghost. Then tried without ghost and I sucked. I decided to skip the next two races while I leveled up my solo driving. Once I was lapping in the 57s I was feeling more confident again.

Once I learned that this was a DR race I thought I might camp out in A for the week and DR farm, but the first race was boring (except for one surprise at the end). I started 2nd and that was where I stayed. 3rd never challenged me but I finished 3rd. How so?

Last lap my headset disconnected (not shown in the capture below). Then a few seconds later, the system went into auto drive. Took me so much by surprise that I fumbled the controller and almost exited out. Finally I got back into the game on the last corner, just as 3rd caught me up and passed me. I was robbed!

I think a static charge built up on my rig and fired random usb signals. I got some big shocks later and random USB disconnects and reconnects are not uncommon as I get in and out of my rig. I really should figure out a grounding system for it all.

The next race I was on pole. As I said I’m not so good when I’m not chasing a rabbit - I lose focus. I dropped to 3rd but then had a good battle and got 2nd on the last corner. That race was more entertaining.

I might not do many more. It’s really hard to overtake and most of my competition was B and C drivers so only really the top 2 or 3 mattered.

Perhaps I’ll take a look at the Alfa at Willow Springs. I’m guessing that’s a bit rowdy…

Had a solid 1st race at Daily Race C today at Tokyo with the lexus but forgot to pit and got a 1min penalty lol.

The 2nd time round I faired much better and used the anti-meta JAG F-Type and it was rapid around Tokyo so good that I almost won but got bumped around the walls last lap by a dodgy Greek racer so settled for 3rd place.

Hey guys, dont fear the walls and give race C a chance. Is a blast!

Supra is dominating the leaderboard but it is far from the only competitive choice here.
The Jag, RX Vision, Ford GT, R8, RC F and the 296 are giving plenty of fight to the Supras.

I know the walls are unforgiving and once you lost the bump-draft train you are pretty doomed but even in those situations, the flow of the track is so good that you can enjoy the race alone without fighting for positions and feasting your eyes with the night time in Tokyo.

I think I will stick to the R8 for the rest of the week but that may change.

Speed is being replaced with involvement sadly.
I have near zero lust for modern mega cars, the 3.8 litre naturally aspirated flat 6 I flog every so often is the near perfect modern sports car engine and it's 17 years old, these 500+ HP torque monster turbo charged video game engines do nothing for me. Shout out to Ford's epic Voodoo V8 too, WHAT an engine.

You don't need speed for excitement. You need drama and a sense of danger (or impending death!). Modern cars are too good and boring. Nothing can beat the frill of driving a dodgy early 80s Ford Fiesta Supersport with a big rusty hole in the boot around the twisty Warwickshire countryside for a sense of danger and excitement in my younger, foolish years. :D

I'm sure if I'd ever got in a accident in that car it would have been instant death in an explosion of rust! LOL

EDIT: I bought the Supersport in 1990 while at Uni for 900 quid but wanted the XR2 but couldn't afford it. Apparently the Supersport is super rare how and can be valued as much as an XR2 as most have died the death due to rust. Mine was near end of life after being 10 years old at the time. I can't imagine how many lasted to now.

There’s still a way to go sadly to my peak 45k but the recovery is happening albeit I only do a 5-10 races a week now so it will be slower going up than it was coming down!

Did one race C yesterday starting 9th with the Jag with a 1:58,4 qualy time in a low B lobby. There where so many weird manoeuvres and fights that i was first in the 3rd lap, i think. I counted on the fast guys being fast but i guess they where held up by fights so i one by about 7 or 8 seconds. :D

After that experience i did some qualy laps and started a race C today about an hour ago from P1 with 1:57:5, still in the Jag. I had a great fight with a turkish driver (P2 qualy, 1:57,8) in a Supra over the whole race. Won by about 1,6 seconds.

Not much time and focus right now but i seem to be rather lucky with aggressive drivers minding they're own business at the moment in the few races i can partake.

Well this was annoying, particularly as the green car punted me out of P1 on lap 2 (no penalty for him!?)

Mine took similar plunge a couple of weeks ago after the F1 Canada race and whatever other ones we had that week.

I'll have to claim my profile there so I can see my stats...

Dirty rammer….🤣

My mind boggles as to why people especially in yours and my lobbies have such utter awful car control and judgement, my mind struggles to comprehend it.

I really didn’t like seeing how brutally I did at those combos, I console myself is that I was starting to get ill…

It’s actually not as slow going up as I thought but even with my times I’m not getting the top1/2 splits so that makes it fractionally better.

One thing I will say is that I haven’t had any cynical racers in my races, caveated with starting way up the front, most of them have been fairly normal: racing > push to hard > fall off because of the pressure (them not me) but mostly all S or S improving arrows

In the previous races I'd been starting around 6-8th, and finishing 4-6th, so when I was starting on pole I thought I may have a chance of a win. That thought lasted just over one lap:lol:

Claimed...

For Daily Race A, my best qualifying time is 0:58.512, which seems to be in the top 2.1k, so I think that’s real good for a Tuesday!
Not sure your level but for A you need to get as high on the LB as possible as it is very hard to overtake.

I'm low A and I was 185th in the world and I still was only P2 on the grid in my first race, beaten by a 'B' driver so there are some very fast people in the lower ranks as well with this one.

Today is my rig delivery day! Whoo 😁 think I’m going to WFH and hopefully squeeze in building the thing.

Another race C this morning, couple of A+ in there and 4th place in the race who was BS pitted around lap 6 and surprisingly won! So there’s some food for thought.

Got my QT down to 1.58.1xx and a 57 is definitely there for the taking

First race in two month for me. Race C in BS lobby. Started pole (1.57.1xx, 1.56.x seems possible), was a bit nervous and made too many minor errors and thus ended driving on p3 for most of the race with p1 still in sight and p4 right in my back. Very clean race, both overtakes against me were clean and p4 stayed behind me without doing something stupid. And then came lap 11. We all in front pitted there and ... I did not change tires. Doh!
