GT7 Daily Race Discussion

Had a great morning on B yesterday. Three wins in (low) B/S lobbies! My QT of 1:19.2 puts me at the sharp end of the grid, which helps!

Still struggling with the line through turn 3 (the uphill right hander). If I’m narrower (like the fastest ghost) I have trouble hitting the apex on the right without a safety lift. And if you don’t hit it you go wide on the exit (which is lethal at Willow).

I’ve driven this track irl (it’s epic) and talked to guys who really know it. Apparently there’s a lot of disagreement about how wide to go through that corner!

Just not feeling Race C, my qualy time (57.6) seems competitive overall but leaves me bottom 5 in A/A+ rooms so I was better off sand bagging. In all three races i've done i've been punted into one of the big stops on lap 1 and circulated on my own in last or second last for 11 laps.

Brockie what rig did you get?

I wonder what car will be for Race A.
Theres a great chance for Gr. 3 on race B and Gr. 4 on race C (wich would be absolutely ridiculous )

Yeah for the amount of time it would take to improve I'd rather just be racing - still starting in the top 6 with my time and the race pace is all very similar.

Sooooo I did a few more laps…. And I have to say I surprised myself!

I really am getting to the limit of my optimal now! @TechnoIsLove

I really don't know how people pull out all these extra tenths as the week goes on. It's not as if I suddenly unlock a secret trick on a Wednesday night which i want aware of. Saying that, I do think a very high 18 is possible using the Cayman since i tried +2 brake balance.

Although it's entirely plausible that anything quicker will have to be using the meta car.

I really don't know how people pull out all these extra tenths as the week goes on. It's not as if I suddenly unlock a secret trick on a Wednesday night which i want aware of. Saying that, I do think a very high 18 is possible using the Cayman since i tried +2 brake balance.

Although it's entirely plausible that anything quicker will have to be using the meta car.

No tricks, and no grinding for me either, just understanding where I can make time or brake more efficiently.

You are doing great in the porker must be one of the fastest non alfas/nsx’s?

I use +5 and also don’t brake in turn 2 or ever fully lift, for the last corner you can take it in 5th with just a dab of brakes and a small early coast and aim for the second raised part of the apex

Everybody knows that as the week goes on the tarmac gets full of rubber and thats how this cheaters find the extra grip that you dont find on mondays!

Jokes aside, the good thing of the friends leaderboard is the benchmarking.
We all have friends with similar pace who help us to understand what time should be aiming for.

And better than that is when you have some "healthy beef" with a friend who push you to find new limits (yes...like the one we witness around here between some Maltese and English driver ).

Is a win-win situation.
We can enjoy the banters and they can improve their pace!

Nice! Gr3 Catalunya on mediums isn’t a bad race at all,

And interested to see what comes of CGV, gr4 or not a full week on a new track appeals

GR.3 is just my assumption seeing that is the no chicane layout.

Yeah, I can see a strong possibility of keeping ahead once you get there using the Porsche. Defending hasn't been the problem, but once you get caught in traffic it's adios to any perceived advantages. I've overtaken my fair share of 'usual metas', G70s and Citroens, though.

Had another great Daily Race C this evening and managed a solid 3rd again that helped my DR somewhat, getting closer to B ranked lobbies hopefully by da end of the week!! Lets go!! I used the RH tyres, then pit lap 1 then onto RM strategy for this race and it worked out ok!

About all I can manage.. made a few errors, but overall pace was enough for an improvement.

It had me starting P3 in the next race, which I somehow managed to win.

Haven’t clicked with Race B and Race C has become a bit 1 dimensional for me now. 4 races last night and started P1 on 3 of them and P2 on 1 with my 1.58.100 QT. Gave me 3 P2 finishes and a P1 but all of them I was racing on my own from the front pretty much the with a lap 11 pit and got beat once by lap 1 pitters so no racing with them and my other P2 I span on lap 10. Was on for a P1 finish on my last lap and my tv came up with the “will turn off in 60 seconds” as I was coming round the final bends and I crashed as it takes up the whole center of the screen until I find the remote to click it 🤦‍♂️😂🤦‍♂️😂

Looks like I will hit B this week though so hopefully some good racing ahead for me. Race C has been good to me taking me from 5k to 8.5k DR so a few mor podiums tonight and I can start getting my ass whooped in B lobbies 🙌🙌

Hah! First world problems ey lol! My TV tends to do that also when I am doing a longer GT7 game session and you only need to push any one button to cancel that timeout, but sometimes the remote is too far to grab in the midst of a focused hard concentration on a track with walls and Barry-R! Then you just reach out to grab it to cancel it up and go sideways, then bish bash bosh!!

Overall Stringer keep at it, I think this race is a very good combo, as we have had it before but just at daytime not night. I wanna at least win a few races, before next weeks races which also look decent may even give the Gr4 a go at CGV as I really need to improve on that track. I get very Le-mans vibes from that track for some reason.

I just threw away two easy wins there too 😭 Good racing generally, with only the occasional push to pass type. They seem to get taken out again soon after - then cry about it in chat 🙄😂

I have come to a decision - I am too old to keep fighting this one so throwing in the towel whilst I still have enough sanity to still be capable of spelling my own name... Well done to Barney, Gurzu and 'the other one' you have very impressive times!

Ironic that posting a time that claims #216 in the world has me angry lol but I cannot find any consistency at Willow. Either I gain 3 or 4 tenths in one corner but all of a sudden lose 4 hours in the next, without doing anything different from previous laps.... 😵‍💫🤐

Even in my new PB, I improved by almost 0.2s overall but a went a couple of inches wide at the last corner and lost 0.2s compared to my usual Sector 3 times... Broke into the 1:18'3s (just about) but if the car did the same thing it always did (last corner) during the previous laps, it would have been a 1:18:1 😖😫

I think today I had some A+ drivers who were 5 and a half - they certainly behaved like it.

I may post a video later with the names removed to see what others think of the tactics. E.g, weaving frantically left and right on the straights, push to pass in the corners, run off on the exits etc - utterly embarrassing for A+, in fact it should be embarrassing at any level

He’s a young’un im 46 and he’s like 26 1/3rd or something.

I turn 41 in Feb but have been working 10 ~ 12 hour days for the past 7 weeks and it is starting to catch up to me - combined with my inability to sleep longer than 5 hours, it is not too fun ⚰️ I am responsible for delivering a project which normally takes twice as many people in a team and three times longer to achieve but I actually have a big chance of pulling it off! 🤪

The problem is I need to keep up the pace for another 3 months and what makes it even more dangerous is the fact that I absolutely love what I do so I only stop when I end up so drained that I can barely count from 1 to 10. That - or to try taking a short break early afternoon to spend 15 minutes trying to knock 'the other one' off his leaderboard perch 🤣

It's 8:15pm here and only had a total of 20 minutes away from laptop and I was already working at 7:40am this morning... Just tried counting to 10 but only got to 7 so it's time to log off, have my first meal since breakfast and doze off 🙃
