On paper it is Race B for me, always loved the track and had some great races with this combo but the current penalty system means it is likely a mess.
It's actually a breeze compared to laat week's Yas Marina. Did 4 races and didn't get a penalty at all. Tried some extreme wide lines because I could swear the penalties are less strict than normal. But maybe I was just on the brink of getting penalties a few times and barely escaped.

My 4 races were all from the back. A lot of fighting with other backmarkers. In the 4th race I could finally get into a rhythm and drove from P13 to P5.

Just me or Race B seems overly short this week? Could use an extra lap or 2. Had a lot of success at Fuji last week so might continue the Gr4 trend with Race A, but always love a good race around RBR so will probably split my time between the least of the two wreckfests!

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Toyota Tuner Trial

With the annual forced affection celebration of St. Valentine’s Day coming up this week, Polyphony Digital has introduced a wild card into the latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races as something of a love letter to the older games...
You're right about race C - 25 minutes to set the car up, 10 minutes qualifying, and then a 12 minute race 😂

Plus, 2 P2s so far, and no DR updates 😂

The majority of the tuning for C is in non removable engine upgrades so they don’t need changing race to race, the only main stuff is aero, gearing and LSD I’ve just left the damping and chassis default set up.

It’s nice to have to use cadence braking though

Just read GT Planet on Race C this week! It’s a cool idea, but how many people gonna jump through all those hoops?
Unfortunately the usual suspects are already complaining about the daily because it's not their Gr.3 comfort zone, which is frankly embarrassing.
I think every single week should have at least one daily race with tuning just to ingrain the idea of it into people's minds. We'd get much nicer dailies from it too!

Track Limits
In daily race B the 1st corner is a right hander that causes mayhem. These 2 aliens are very top of the leader board for lap times but are they not clearly beyond the track limits?

Not having DR doesn’t help to motivate them more.

I personally don’t want tuning ingrained in my mind, I enjoyed that a lot when I was younger but now I much prefer spec racing, nothing against tuning or tuning races.

Also you are putting a lot of faith tuning overcoming competitive behaviour.

Now we can see each others tunes in the data logger it will just converge to the op tunes even quicker.

Here's this weeks guide!

I did send feedback as soon as I could about buying the car for C I haven't checked the entire thread but it should be purchasable from 1am CET. The tuning is actually not to bad being able to see good starter setups with data logger. I accidently entered the first race of the day with 199bhp as I thought it was 200 not 226 haha! I do feel like it should be daily race B though, as we don't have a race with strategy this week.

I’m glad to have a normal track back in RBR, had to dump the Porsche since I put 20 laps into it and a race and got home and tried the WRX and beat my time in the first lap 😁 the short shifting I’ve seen in the top times is helping and I think I’ll refine it as I go along this week, but I’m sticking with RBR and sticking with the WRX, racing has been decent tonight

Globally less than 3k people have done daily C today.

A couple of points, it’s early and the car is not available however I’d assume tuning fans would have either of them as it’s only time gated for the last 3 years…

This is quite a signal if I’m being honest, this is getting to paddock meet-up or lobby racing levels of engagement and not daily C racing. I think it should have been A to be honest and the do DR thing is weird.

Also the no ABS is a warm hatch is quite fun, in a super car probably not so much 🤣

C’mon, it’s the fun factor of building the AE86 to participate like the real world Hot Verison races! If I had a PS+ subscription, I’d be in there like swimwear!

If anyone wants to know specifications of these cars have a look at the videos. They’ll show power, weight and final drive gears.
The real races are short as well.

Shame lots of players don’t know about AE86 race cars. This is an event I been begging for and never happened properly until the Power Pack. Bringing it to Sport Mode will at least inform players about the existence of these real world races.

Maybe they’ll do a next one at Fuji Speedway.

We know about them, it’s just not what we want to race competitively.

We could be tuning escort cosworths or capris or anything.

There seems to be very little traction for it and you aren’t even racing it!

Edit: spelling

What does me not racing it have anything to do with it? I done my share of Sport Mode races and I don’t feel the cost for PS+ is worth it for Me.

Anyway, it’s good PD acknowledge a Japan racing history they did show in early Gran Turismo’s with racing modified AE86s.

If i had the car I would give race C a go, maybe tomorrow when they are available to purchase...
Personally though, I spent a lot of time on the Manufacturers Cup preparing tracks and strategies. Last week and this I kinda just want to race some known quanities if you know what I mean. More quiet times of the year I think race C would really excite me. And I really hope they keep giving us some odd-balls now and then.

So you don’t have skin in the game, don’t know what the racing is like posted videos of racing of a tbing that isn’t even happening for sports mode?

I don’t know what does your opinion have to to do with actual sports mode racing? What can we learn from it?

I always wanted to get better at modulating brakes on the controller...guess this is my week, lol! Will be my first foray into the ABS-less world, and seems HUGELY appropriate with these cars, so should be a good time! Apologies to all who I run into along the way. 😁 😇

What the heck are you gate keeping for? Skin in the game? I know I’m learning about your bad attitude for me posting for those that don’t know about the replica racing PD have just added, for those that don’t know. What’s with you? No, don’t answer that. I can see Famine deleting a few pages worth of back and forth.

I posted my info about the real cars themselves. In the gtplanet video I watched before posting here, Chaz Draycott mentioned bout his gearing. Not reaching top speed. The videos I posted have gear ratios for Tsukuba. I even mention that in the comments section of the video. If being competitive means ABS on for players that aren’t accustomed to ABS Off, do you have any settings that can help players that need assistance?

It's okay to not be the audience of something. But there's no "we" aren't racing it - it's you that isn't. For whatever reason that may be - but it's something very fun and very close you're missing out on (and for what?)

There's a whole community if people (me included) who have been waiting for Sport Mode to resemble an actual Gran Turismo game for a very long time.
They are racing it.

Mate, the videos are fine, have you done the actual race? This is the daily races thread where we talk about the actual racing we do, how to get quicker and help each other.

I’ll back to my point, you haven’t done the race provided contextless videos that have little relevance and opinion like it is relevant?

What am I getting wrong here? I have no problem doing tuning races or embracing classic cars, I’m also fine racing the other races.

I’ve been posting, tips, tricks opinions and moans on this thread for 3 years. You don’t even do daily races mate.

So again, what relevance to the reality rather than than imagination/videos are adding?

Edit:

@Nebuc72 i am racing it, but my commitment is waining.

It just has to be really clear that a small cohort of people having fun is good, but people not doing and adding nothing is not useful.

I can post as I wish. Whatever you don’t get from it that’s one you. Someone else may find the info I posted helpful. Shared my feelings on the subject of the race. Won’t apologise if it doesn’t meet your criteria.

Ok but keep on the thread topic?

We are fine to disagree I’m cool with that but be additive not “here’s some videos of a race in real life but im not doing, because opinions and I don’t do daily races so here guys take my wisdom while you do reality”

There is 40k people doing A and B and 3k doing C where do you think the room is both active and lurkers here? You aren’t wrong to enjoy this sort of stuff, but you aren’t because you don’t do dailies, you aren’t wrong to post videos of a race you aren’t doing.

I just ask why?

I been on topic. I gave you why.

Just going to be pages and pages of posts now…

It is an insanely niche race though. It requires a special car only available through a rotating "semi-random" used car dealership OR via the paid DLC. It requires being interested in tuning even just a little. Requires upgrades to be competitive at all, and ultimately is on one of the weirdly niche tracks in the game.

Yes it's insanely popular among people that it is popular with but there's very little mass appeal to it. I agree, this should have been an A. There's nothing that says A races can't have higher lap count especially on a track where the average lap is about a minute.
