Painful week mate, there is no hope for it, going to be a long hard slog until Monday, I just need to get back to SR S and then I’m going alt account all weekend,

You have have to pray you get around the first 2 turns intact and there is no maniacs in the lobby just wanting everyone to burn,

The corvette was especially annoying. I had cleared him so zero overlap, and I had momentum AND I left him room on the inside and STILL the giblet hit me. Like FFS.

Feeling ya, I had this race at lunch today. Man I thought it was going to be the perfect race, me and this German guy 1&2, both in the viper, 4 laps without touching each other, he led, I led, start of lap5 P3 dived from third into me and put me in the sand.

Unfortunately Monza does not work on GT

Good thing that this weekly B at Monza has 6 laps.
I hope that as the week goes on people will learn that 6 laps is long enough to avoid winning the race on the first turn

With the Vipers on track it feels like a multiclass race.
Im sticking with the R8 but its hard to follow them even with slipstream.

I wished they have banned this car.
It would have been a much better race IMO.

The R8 is really good in sector 2 since it corners so well, but the straight line speed of the Viper, especially if they have a slipstream behind you is overpowered. They can be 0.8s behind you before or after parabolica, and side by side with you at the end of a straight. It is possible to overtake the Viper in Lesmo 1&2, but if you get too close you lose downforce immediately. Quite frustrating since the R8 is so good.

Sometimes a track + car combo in a daily race just clicks better than any other daily race from the near past. Did a few qualy runs at St. Croix with my meta (SLS AMG) & bettered my fastest lap time to 2:21:400. The optimal time of 2:20:829 has inspired me to try again tomorrow.

I ran this set of qualy runs in the evening, a time of the day when I'm usually mentally tired. When playing in the late mornings or noon time, I usually fare better which is why want to give the qualy runs one more try. The biggest benefit of setting a good time is the higher probability of starting in the top 5 of my DR/SR grid slot & this is enough to avoid the mid grid craziness which ruins the race most of the times.

This race is addictive because I'm seeing users pit on varied laps to either switch to RM or RH which makes it real exciting.

The NSX is a juicy peach of a car, pity it's racing on a stinky scrotum of a track that allows any idiot to punt and punt to their heart's content.
In around ten races at different time slots I've had two that were more or less clean, all others absolute showers of brown goo. Not a good enough ratio. Being in front works against you as you can be easily and properly taken out at multiple points in the lap. How many times have people here said we need proper penalties for miscreants?
What a waste of potential...

It's my experience at St Croix that pitting on lap 2-3 if you start hards and pitting lap 7-8 if you start mediums makes the most sense. Any more than 2-3 laps on hards and you're losing time to everyone so doing the most to minimize hard running makes the most sense regardless of anything else going on in the race.

For online racing Monza is hot garbage. Always has been always will be. None of us non-aliens are skilled enough to be consistently fast, clean, and also leave enough room for others at either of the two chicanes or either lesmos.

There is nothing that can be done to "fix" online racing at Monza short of removing both chicanes for those races. The best you can hope for is sometimes you don't die.

There is nothing that can be done to "fix" online racing at Monza short of removing both chicanes for those races. The best you can hope for is sometimes you don't die.

A ha. I should've stated explicitly I was talking about Race A. Forgot people might think I was using the Gr3 NSX in Race B. No, B was a dead cert to be a punter's paradise with all the chicanes. Not going near it. I'm a road car man, even moreso a JDM man, and that's why I'm fuming they've put an NSX one-make race on such a dumb 'circuit'...

I was reading your posts about race A and thinking, damn, A & B are total garbage this week, full of punters.

It’s the combos sadly, I haven’t bothered with A since I saw tidgney video saying it has very hard to drive, that won’t end well at high speeds.

Monza just isn’t wide enough for 2 cars in the turns for most people or can they brake in unison so it’s carnage, bad week but we get on with it.

Actually I just had a race at Monza which was clean, no actual ****. It’s possible I guess at certain times with ppl who want to race

It’s one of weeks where it will settle down but really quite divisive.

I haven’t turned a wheel today not even QT because the early bad taste where honestly in high A\A+ lobbies who have done this race 100s of times still try to pass at lesmo 2 or in to Ascari but also can’t lift and break gradually for T1 is inexcusable quite frankly.

You can’t be clumsy 4 races in the same place as an A driver.

I'm not sold it is primarily the combos, the lack of penalties means people increasingly just don't care. They need to come down hard with a new penalty system, especially in S rooms.

Completely academic of course, but everyone feel free to check out my Showcase for some incredibly close racing at Grand Valley. The odd mistake, but very tough, mostly clean racing with some talented individuals.

Oh my bad! I tried Daily A last night just for qualifying and I realized I'm just really bad at not overdriving the tires on the car.

I've long thought that there needs to be actual financial rewards for clean and safe driving. Safety rating is functionally meaningless across all levels of driver skill. There's no penalty for not being safe and clean, no real reason to drive that way.

There is, however, advantage to be gained by being dirty. Forcing another car off track is a position you gain and get rewarded financially for. It also tracks in your stats.
Finding a way to do that while not being penalized is a large part of the online racing meta. Knowing where at Bathurst you can wall someone to get past and they'll get the penalty and you won't is a skill that PD rewards with the way online racing is set up.

If you want clean and safe rating you've got to either park people for penalties or you've got to reward clean driving far more than you currently do. I'm talking orders of magnitude higher. It's somewhere around 50% bonus for CRB. I can make more than that by shoving two people off track, taking their spots, and finishing higher than I would have with my CRB.
That is a fundamental flaw that can't be overcome by penalty systems.

Additionally there's the problem of the software penalizing the wrong person. For example if I'm walled at Bathurst I get the penalty for hitting a well. If I just don't let you back on when we're side by side and you try to force the issue that's your fault not mine according to the software.

If I want to run you wide in the middle of a corner and you go off track that's your penalty not mine even though it's my fault you're there. I don't think there's a fix other than to actually stop people from playing the game when they do it or by paying so much more for clean racing that moving someone out of the way does not reward that many credits. But even then people don't race online for credits they race for wins and they'll do anything they can to get there.

I forgot how much fun the Jag can be at Monza. 164 mph+ at the end of the straight and five-star brakes, lol. Was nice slipping into something different after a loooooooooooooong hiatus.

Was having fun in the new Porsche. Then I beat my PB with the old one. Then I threw caution to the wind as I waxed nostalgic about Monza in the GTSport days. If it was a McLaren party, I was reachin' for the F-Type.👍
