Well I think it might have to be Road Atlanta this week, how long is the race length and what’s the general strategy?

Tried both A & B and wasn’t pretty and I don’t think those stick this week so into the fray of longer races it is! 😁

Welcome to the dark side

People seem to be getting laps under 1.20 and it's 13 laps so 17/18 minutes? Think just pit half way through and switch the tyre compound, I'm going to have a go at this from tomorrow, will have a little blast at B this eve.

Race B & C are fun to say the least. As always, I choose cars that aren't meta unless desperate (which was the case last week in Kyoto as there was no car even remotely close to Gt by Citroen there). So in Race C, I'm enjoying the FR cars there. First went with GT3 AMG '20 which was decent but struggles in S2 slow right handers. Then I jumped to F-Type & boy oh boy, what a feeling! Great acceleration & stability.

As per my mantra in daily races, if a faster driver catches up to me, I let him overtake me without much hindrance as I prefer seeing the larger picture. Had quite a few decent results in Race C with the F-Type. And if You keep to Yourself, You can climb a good amount of spots. I haven't set a decent TT time yet as am waiting for @Tidgney 's lap guides. Also love the fact that users are trying various strategies for this race. Loving it.

Race B I'm opting for SLS AMG car which I know isn't the best option. Will be setting a quick TT time either with Swift or Gt by Citroen. It again is shocking to see the race is just 4 laps. Loving @Tidgney 's new segment where he suggests what could've been done to the daily races to make them even more attractive & playable.

Mate it's 13 laps where You need to use RM & RS tyres. I usually go RM (8 laps) & rest on RS. Be very weary of pit entry as it's easy to get a 3 second penalty. Opt for Suzuki Swift or GT by Citroen for qualy time.

20 minutes max - 6 and 7, or 7 and 6 for tyre changes. Up to you which way you do it, but RM and then RS has worked well for me (using the new 911 again).

Well done on starting the week with the week with a win mate!

No chance of repeating it in the lobby we were just in, the orange Italian guy was dirty in my first race and I saw he took you out on lap one!!!

I als caught a bit of friendly fire from you here 😂😂😂😂 also just so you’re aware none of the contact leading up to that on you was from me!!! (Ps this video is a joke as I know it was an accident, just found it funny, I also conveniently started the video just after I stuck that dirty driver in the wall for trying to push me into you 4 times hearing up that straight)

Yeah. I'm a mid B/S driver and my time is a 1:19:8xx in the 2022 911. I've seen times as low as 1:19:1xx and that was from a Corvette.
Top times are in the 1:16s and look to be spread between the Ferrari 296 and the Mercedes.

It is 17/18 minutes. I like starting on Mediums and swapping to Softs at the end of Lap 6. If you don't change tire compound you will receive a 1 minute penalty

The race info will say that pitting is not required. This is a red herring. It's a requirement to use both Medium and Soft compounds. Don't get tripped up :D

had a go at RA when I got home, took a bit of drip at lunch confirming that race A&B weren’t for me, I would have had a good finish at RA had it not have been for this chap who rammed me on pit entry and I restarted on the main straight, cheers thanks very much.

But the 13 laps I have to say went quite fast so that’s me settling there and with the Porsche again this week,

Set down a decent time after about 10 laps of Quali and without having a good butchers at what the top guys are doing so happy with it

No worries mate, guys like that are all around us and achieving little. Keep the faith 😇🤠

As a weird note, although perhaps I've just not previous seen it, Daily Race A has "Nitrous" set to "Unrestricted".

You can't actually use it though.
It’s set to that when it’s bop’d road cars there was a race at eiger with the scoobies and it said the same thing but you can’t enter with it equipped.

I don’t know if it’s recent change or just such few road car races that I just never noticed

Road Atlanta and GR3 is awesome - proper rollercoaster of a track. It's a bit boring in GR4 in my opinion.

But jeezo that pit lane 🙈 I practiced a bunch of entries during qualifying, then come the race I dived in - good entry, then spun and ended up backwards, requiring a 35 point turn to get going again 🤣

That was one of my strongest GTWS races this race but about 10 laps I think.

The entry is ok if it’s not busy going in to the chicane otherwise it’s an absolute nightmare of slowing and lines, the exit is slightly worse because it gives you steering angle you have to correct as you take over from auto drive.

It’s one of the better races they throw up but it’s a little procession by the end of the week as the strat is known (go one lap longer in the top 5 on the mediums) but fun and sharp at the end.

I’m liking A atm just moving the car around is fun, but I’ll have to double down on C if I want to progress or find tighter racing.

Yeah it’s a proper racing circuit isn’t it, when you get it all together it’s really satisfying, I’ll happily do this one all week 😁 I just got a second place wheee I completely fluffed the entry again but this time took the grass on the right, expecting a 3sec but escaped with a 0.5sec so maybe that’s the trick 😁
I've seen a few people make that mistake today, plus one racer who started on intermediate tyres - again I can't believe that nobody told him before the start 😂
Yeah what’s that about suddenly you are at the end racing the leaders and the penny doesn’t drop?! 😂

I see you’ve brought that down by another half second as well??? 🚀

Was a rough one this evening! Assuming people not knowing the track and just being all over the place! But also a few wallies punting and dive bombing?

Oh god, I’ve not even thought about the pit lane! I’ve done about 30 laps of quali and I just struggle so hard to have any semblance of control of the car, feel like I’m always on the verge of losing it (and then I’d do 😂). Agree race B is dull, 4 laps is way to short as well. Havent raced yet as I will just be an absolute menace to anyone taking the proper line, braking points at the moment 🤦‍♂️

Question for you Gr3 gurus, do you feel like you have these car under control at all times? In Gr4 I feel like I can move it around at my will but Gr3 it feels like the car is driving me and I’m just clinging on for dear life!

Also I don’t know much about cars, it seems like it’s a choice between M6, Ferrari and 911, whats the pros and cons of each? I’ve been using the Ferrari as I haven’t driven it before so wanted to give it a whirl.

I’ve deleted digits website off my browser and have decided I’m not going to look at DR again for a month or so, just going to park myself in the Grade 3 races each week and learn how to drive these bloody things! Would be too easy to just pick the Gr4 each week and artificially run myself back up to A, but there’s nothing to learn there!

Guess I’ll be seeing some of you in the C and D lobbies soon 😂😂

When I do my first laps it’s quite scrappy and cack handed.

By lap 10 braking is smoother and throttle pick up is earlier and cleaner.

You have to trust Gr3 aero over Gr4 it’s a different style.

I always use the M6 but for 99% of people the Porsche is the way to go, it’s how I’ve gone. The M6 is stable but a little lazy, the Ferrari doesn’t like the curbs so demands precision, it also has a slightly odd engine characteristic that rewards a very controlled driving style.

The only thing with the Porsche is you have to minimise the coasting, or overlap brake and throttle to balance it otherwise it’s slightly better everywhere else

I think I’ve plateaued now, did 10
Laps after tha 1.18.3… and couldn’t get any further but I did enjoy the race, when it’s nice and clean any race works,

Funny you should mention digits site 😂 I’ve gotten obsessed with my DR and hating being in DR B, it’s almost like I’d prefer to be at the back at DR A then at the front at B, and whats more annoying is when the digits site errors and you can’t check your DR 🤣

Thanks for the answers mate, tomorrow I will change from the Ferrari to the 911 for the eve and see if I can get more control and a better time.

Haha you have literally just described how I’ve been for the last 8 weeks. Checking it after every race and fuming if I get the error 😂😂

I think trying to protect my Dr had taken a bit of enjoyment out of it for me as well and definately hampered my learning as I’ve veered away from races I’m not good at. Nit this week, I’m sitting in race C and setting fire to DR all week 😂

I’ll let you in to a little secret, I was the exact same and then you find the secret which is just slightly faster consistency and survival.

You will gain dr or bleed it more slowly by just making sure you are whole.

Also, it’s a measure of a moment not something to monitor, as
Long as the 6 month trend is up you are doing ok, if it’s not well then there are few edges to sand off.

Personally I stopped looking at it a little while ago because when the rubber hits the road it’s only pace, composure and consistency that matter

My first race of the week and what an amazing race this was, I started P6, finished P4, but it was a constant battle for P3, literally the whole race, couple of overtakes from my side, couple of overtakes on me, but all clean and nice. And since I just started using VR yesterday (after year and a half without it), it will take some time to get used to it, my pace is still very poor, but the feeling is absolutely incredible, I cannot praise it enough. It's literally not important where I finish, the enjoyment and immersion, the sunset, cars roaring in front and behind, only the people who use it will understand :)

The last few days I have come out of my Sport hiatus.
Didn't do to well in the couple of races last week, but I put that down to a bit of rustiness.

I always liked the Monday racing as it was a bit of a field leveller. Race C was right up my street so jumped in with the AMG.

My meagre time was only good enough for P14 on the grid. Ultimately it was a good race and thankfully there was offs everywhere to my benefit. I was in a constant battle and it was all clean (except one blocking move but that was still minor.) The car felt very good and that confidence helped propel me to a P4 finish.

I will try and do a few more Monday races from now on.

I’ve been VR for 14 months now.

I won’t play the game any other way since then.

It genuinely is what this game was made for!

Im also faster and faster conversely life reasons less and less time :(

I rarely complain about DR/SR gains and losses but I literally just had a B lobby where my QT starts me in 13th and I finished 2nd. I LOST DR?!

In what universe should that have been possible? meh lol

Two ways:

  • Everyone else has a much lower DR than you, such that the gains you make off the other players don't offset the amount you lose to the winner
  • You quit a previous race which hadn't reached its conclusion by the time you started the next one
The second is exactly what happened. I was in daily B and wrecked and dropped to last. I then joined C in the nick of time and completed that race.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback.
