Had an early finish yesterday so I did a few Daily Race A's (all I am doing at the moment as a DR-D/SR-S).

But what I was wondering is how people go about prepping for their own new Daily Race week?

Is it wise to do 50-100 (or more) time trial laps to get track/car knowledge up (and times down) and put myself into a position to race against better competition...or do the 20-30 laps and

I feel like I know the answer, but was just wondering what a new race week looks like for drivers at different levels (any Race: A/B/C, any DR: E/D/C/B/A/A+/S).
Personally mate I’m racing a new week, on the new week.

It only takes a small amount of time per day to be consistent by the weekend, most of here know all the tracks so probably have that advantage but if I remember when I started out, I was doing a 15min qualifying and then a race a few times per day, by the weekend, you’re knowledgeable of the track to push a time and enjoy the racing,

Just keep trying to dr increases which is top 6-8 and your level should improve

I'd love to see GR.1 at The Glen. Especially if they do the limiting thing where they separate Group C from LMP1 and especially if they also separate out Vision GT so that it's just pure LMP1.
That sounds like it would be impossible to drive
Thanks to some good advice here I was able to be competitive tonight in C. Can finally get through chikane of death consistently and improved my quality with more than a second. From driving a buss at the back of the field to fighting for 8-11 place is good progress on a map I find difficult 😊

If anyone want to add me to their TT list I would appreciate it. BigB_1689
Lovely news mate - added you

This a good question and one I've put a lot of thought into the last 4/5 weeks.

The answer is going to differ person to person based on time to race etc.... for example i have 15-20 hours a week that I can race so putting 2-3 hours into a dedicated TT session is only a small part of my time but I know @NevilleNobody is more limited on time with weekends off so may probably want to get racing quicker.

I'll give you my experience for what it's worth and you can take what you want from it mate.

When I started I was just super eager to race so would jump into races half baked, not fully knowing the braking points and needing the red lines assist on to tell me when to brake etc.... This led to me being really inconsistent, having a ton of bad races and having much "dirtier' races as I was just constantly out of position and couldn't judge corners/braking etc.... which led to getting hit and punted as I was all over the place, braking early or missing braking points.

4 weeks ago I decided to dedicate Mondays to TT and learning a track before racing the rest of the week and my enjoyment, results and clean driving have all improved dramatically.

It's not specifically just developing raw pace that is important, it's knowing the track fully, making sure you know every line, braking point, turning point and acceleration point to a point where in a race you're jostling for position you're not guessing where to brake etc... as a newbie you're going to be up against people that have raced that track 10/15 times so you need to build some track knowledge.

For you every week is most likely going to be a brand new track so it's going to take longer to learn but at a minimum I think you want to be able to string together 10 quali laps of consistent pace without crashing before going into a race. You will get repeat races where it's quicker to learn. I'm 5 months in now and I'd say it's 50/50 on new or repeated track for me. For example Kyoto 2 weeks ago took me 70 laps to find pace and learn the track. Dragon Trail this week is a repeat for me and took 50. (Laguna Seca took me 500 laps and I still didn't find any consistency 🤦‍♂️ or pace)

In terms of what a week looks like for me.

Monday - TT and learn a track 2-3 hours - anything upto 100 laps - usually 50/60 alongside studying replays of fastest times.
Tues - race
Weds - race
Thurs - 45 min - 1 hour TT again to see if I've found pace and race
Fri - Sun - race if i can

Hope that helps and apologise for the rambling answer

Wow......what a Race C I just ad. I got hit by 3 different drivers in braking zones across the track.

The dirtiest of them (who has been dirty since months is usually in a Yellow Mazda3 in Gr.4 races) was behind me in P5 at the start. I know too well so I let him past me between turns 3 & 4. This was the 1st lap. He then made a mistake & hurt his speed through CoD where I was then able to overtake him cleanly. He then bumps into my rear at the last turn. I wasn't surprised by his antics at all though.

I got hit by 2 other drivers like this in one at the last turn again & one at T5. The one who hit me on T5 is a very good driver in high A's even. I was shocked by his late braking.

I know all races can't be a smooth sailing but I'm a player who will let a faster car through just to protect mine & his race altogether. The other 2 drivers I know they're usually clean but just a bad spell of coincidences to get hit 3 times altogether. And because of this, my DR gets hurt.

The driver in the Mazda3 is notorious. So much that in almost every race I've been with him on the grid, there's never a race he hasn't collided or hurt someone else's race. The bizarre thing is he's fast but don't know why he needs to be so much hellbent in destroying other's races.

My optimistic mood of morning got destroyed by this one race. Man what a turn of events......It's ok but I just thought I'll share what a shocker of a start my day has begun with....LOL.

Looking at candidates for next week's Race A... The list of cars with default CS tyres is quite illustrious.

We have a handful of Silvias, three classic M3 models, Shelby Cobra, a couple of Corvettes, Lancer Evos and an OG Mazda RX-7.

We're obviously gonna get the BRZ or Audi TT though, aren't we?

Lancer Evo or Audi TT would be cool

Anything where you just have to drive the track rather than fight the car.
Absolutely mate, I’d still like some different touring car like combos to drive, I mean if gr3 & 4 are the most accessible to drive for the masses then there is plenty of those to use, minis, Renaults, Hondas, etc in semi race spec, that’d be fun as 😁 agreed not 1980s Lamborghini countache which drives like a boat!

I normally do about 45 mins to an hour Monday nights, trying different cars (I can tell pretty quick what cars will and won't work) and working on QT. I usually aim to be at around 2.5% or so of the fastest time in the world or at least in my usual position on the friends ladder. Then I jump in late Monday night and continue to chase QT between races.

Cheers, your pretty much a 46 too though 👍 Annoyingly I was 2 tenths up on the first sector of the next lap but managed to lose it in the last turn
That .008 drives me up the wall everytime I look at it 😂

2 tenths, so you’ve got some decent time left in there still. What split are you going through S1 and S2 to get into the 46?

Today was the first race all week that I could race other cars on the same strat, started 12th, fast BS lobby, and after I pitted on lap 2 to 3, I came out 8th and battled hard with 5 other cars for most of race, a few out there weren’t very friendly drivers so ended up 2nd because of stupidity around me, but the DR is nicely increasing so I’m happy this alt is the way to go and have another account which I happily yoyo whilst i keep one as high as it can be, probably a false economy as I’ll just end up using is less 🤔

I’m liking a C type race this week and I may even do it next week!

Depends which one I’m running best in,

Suns out, beers out, enjoy the sunny weekend guys!

I'll have a look later, I can share the lap, though you'll probably not learn much from me 🤣 S1 is where I always seem to lose the most

edit/ shared lap in my gallery, tagged gtplanet. And also on youtube
sector times are 36.222, 1:09.950. definitely 2 or 3 tenths available in the first part, and I also messed up the last turn too so probably lost a couple of tenths there as well.

Epic lap mate!!!

1.09.950 second sector had me like 😳

Got to be driving style and careful inputs, I’d never get there!

Bravo

I think I gained the most there - usually been a 10.1/10.2. This lap had me starting in 14th in the next race! The whole grid was separated by 0.6 seconds. 2 tenths quicker and I'd have started P5

He is slowly being converted!!! I think an amazing race B is still better than an amazing race C but on the whole race C is usually better as it’s cleaner and people are less desperate and you have more time to recover a mistake. But an absolute banger of Race B is still the best!

It’s that last corner that kills me. I had a quarter of a tenth through S2 but lose it in last turn!

I just watched digits replay and S1 is 35.8 and S2 is 09.1 so we are losing 4 tenths in first and 6 in the second. I think I’m on the limit tho. They’re taking T1 apex at 70 😮

😂😂 frustrating that! I had 5 people in the .9’s in front of me last night!

So tight with the top 1000 being split by one second.

EDIT: I chased Digits ghost round this morning for 20 mins and finally managed to dip into the 36’s!! That bloody last corner is killing me! Got through S2 in 1.09.849 and missed the apex of last corner AGAIN 🤦‍♂️

@Stringerbell That pace is electric bro, you have certainly moved into a new tier in the leaderboard 😁

Yeah I still prefer a decent B and I’m looking for DR increases so not fighting too hard 😂

I am finding in C this week though how the hell people are getting those times, in my lobbies especially, they are fast over a lap but in the race they aren’t.

Had a race earlier which had 8 A rated drivers in, I started 14th in my alt BS account, now very high B 😁, finished 4th!!! Brilliant race,

Race C just doesn’t let me do race after race like B does, it’s hard graft 🤣

Also check the video which sums up how jammy I’ve been - thank you v much

Biggest bump draft in the world 😂😂😂

Tbf I’m sure you’ve been on the opposite side of that where you’ve been the one behind so you deserve that luck!!

You’ll have two A accounts by end of this week by the looks of it mate. You’ll be able to switch between the two depending on how well the combo suits you 💪💪💪

Yeah I feel I’ve picked up a little bit of extra pace since RBR a few weeks ago.

Think the leaderboard battles are helping me as well as I’m really enjoying the back and forth each week with everyone.

My ex-wife has a Mazda3...its probably her :dunce:

Done 2 races this week at Interlagos and apart from being a bit rusty they were fun the first was a lot of “robust” moves that never stuck because the end up binning it.

The second, I defended t1 slightly better on lap 1 and just ran away with the other 2 in front.

For Seaside, Stringer try braking earlier and coming off the brakes early you’ll be able to carry more entry speed in to T1/2

LOL....BTW, I love the Mazda3 but FF cars in general suffer a few disadvantages especially in races with tyre wear.

Like I said, the guy I spoke about is fast (A rated driver) but he often if not always will divebomb or punt others. Anyway, we always will come across players of all types, shape & skill....

Thanks mate - I’m taking the family away for the weekend so think that’s me done now. So there will be no chance for me to try and reply when @Barney Da Dog posts a 1.46.8xx later today 🙌🙌

A while back I raced with my secondary a/c (Rouge_et_Noir) where I'm at mid B in DR when compared to my primary a/c where I'm high B - close to A DR zone.

The strange thing is mid level B rated players in general is where I'm finding more cleaner racing than the upper B level. It should be the opposite in a way. Right now I started in 4th & finished in 4th. But during the race so many a times I let faster cars through or made overtakes in the braking zones. All went smooth & with true sportsmanship.

As mentioned yesterday, I got hit/punted thrice when I try my best never to come in anyone's way. For me, a satisfying clean race (even if I finish last) is more satisfying than coming in the top 5 through argy-bargy.

Well i tried - had a 1:09.7** at the second sector but had a poor last turn and only improved by a few hundredths.
I somehow started on pole in one race - and finished 2nd overall, which has been my best result. In the next race I was back to starting 13th.
I think if it had been GR3 there would have been more death at the chicane, but in GR4 folk are taking it close to flat every lap so there's not much scope to pick up any freebies.

Also, higher tyre wear would have mixed things up a bit, as everyone is on either a lap 1 or last lap stop.
