I feel for you. You've just described what is probably the most common cheap/dirty move you'll see. In fact its so Common people must think it's legitimate. We all experience the same thing time and time again. The issue is it's a low risk - high reward "tactic" and it happens with all players from DR E to A+ regardless or the car/track combo.

You can either aggressively defend the inside line and compromise the corner or just concede the corner early on before impact.

I got my Q time down to 1:35:352 so now I’m pole in most all of the B rooms and beyond the chaos. Had some good races with the top 3-5 and got back 900 so the key is pole position 😂

I prefer the Nissan. Seems competitive in pace, is stable in the fast corners, and the 3rd gear feels really good out of the slower corners on the uphill/extra part of the circuit (kind of a gear between the M6s 2nd and 3rd).
If you want an MR car the 296 feels fine, even through the bus stop. Just my 2 cents.
Good tip, maybe I'm going to try this later this week. The M6 is stable for me in the bus stop, but I keep ruining my own races because I'm not careful enough on the throttle on the hard tires. I can choose to really drive on the edge of oversteer and be on par with my peers, or drive too carefully to keep it on the road, and lose about a second per lap at least.

Especially the boot section is troublesome. Exiting T7 in 2nd gear in the BMW is twitchy, but 3rd gear feels sooo slow. T9 is also a turn I struggle with a lot. Seems like ages I can go on the throttle and even then I still bog it sometimes. If the Nissan's 2nd and 3rd gear are at slightly lower speed that would be good news.

Did 3 races with the BMW and actually rage/disappoint quit 2 times. I race with the PS5 controller without any assists, and when the back end goes, it goes... I can almost never catch this, so most of the times I end up with my nose into the barrier when I induce oversteer or when someone taps me against the tail lights. So in one race I went into the barrier at the exit of T9. Lost about 10 seconds. Then I went into the pits together with some guy behind me, and someone behind us both didn't account for this and completely rammed us both off.

1 of the races went slightly better, I still ended up with my nose straight into the barrier, but because so many people were struggling I still went from a P15 start to a P6 finish somehow.

Today was a classic case of keeping my nose clean. As SammySnake once said, never indulge in a group jostling for positions. That's what I did.

After long I've had one of my most satisfying victories with my main a/c & the gap to second was the icing on the cake too as I'm not that good to start with for such a lead.

In short, I started in second. After the uphill esses, I let the 3rd placed player through as he was faster. Then soon enough, I let the 4th placed driver through as he was faster than me. This move of letting them though was pivotal.

What happened in that very (1st) & 2nd lap changed the entire complexion of the race. The screenshots below explain the narrative more vividly.

They kept fighting with each other so hard to ruin each other's race sadly. I don't understand when the race is 11 laps long, why get so aggressive or defensive even on the 1st lap itself? Don't understand the argy-bargy so early on in a long race!

Anyway, because of them, I was able to take the lead & keep it clean. DIdn't get even 1 time penalty which helped. With such ana awesome race, I won't race anymore just to keep the good vibes flowing.

On 1st lap, I let the 3rd placed player go with right indication of mine blinking to let him know this.

20260527_102936.webp

Letting the 4th placed player through as well.

20260527_103046.webp

What ensues is this on the 2nd lap before the double chicane. I'm in 4th place seeing all this unfold in front of me.

So he spins out & the BMW driver even loses positions due to damage.

20260527_103154.webp

The 1st placed driver seen here catches upto us but he even is a little naughty in his aggression. Both of them have a 1/2 second penalty because of touching each other & going wide off-track.

20260527_103309.webp

After the 3 lap mayhem, I'm seen here overtaking this player who had again managed to get a 1/2 second time penalty.

From here, I just kept to myself & tried to lap consistently with my RH-RS strategy. I believe they kept fighting it out throughout the race which is why my gap was so big at the end. I'm not that good but yeah, I'm clean & prefer to stay out of situations like this or even move out of a faster car's way as I've no right to screw anyone else's race....

Surprised myself on Monday morning getting a 35.1 at Deep Forest, a track I have never really done well at. Subsequently won two races from pole, but had a huge reality check last night - starting from pole I basically got bullied down to 11th 😭. Went and told on the nasty boys to my wife but she didn’t seem to care 🤣! It was more like a destruction derby than racing.
Watkins Glen (in GTR) seems a generally calmer and cleaner race, have had some good battles there so far and I think I will focus my efforts there. Got my time down to a 44 flat last thing last night. Was involved in a five-car pile up at T1 though so not 100% clean!

Yeah I’ve found the same at deep forest, I don’t know why I don’t like it because it’s actually a good track but it’s got some places where passing won’t fly and other places where you can get it wrong and you’ll get paid back, but this week I’ve had some excellent racing, I’ve been driving the 458 and got a 35.6 but I’ve struggling to stay with the Atenza in races,

Only this morning, I managed to get really close with the Atenza so I think I’ll use that for the rest of the week try to get it working for me,

I dropped back to BS and 5 races later I’m at 29.7k so I’ll be towards the back of grid before long 😁

Nice story with complementing pictures! Wise decision making is very beneficial for good race results, although it can sometimes be a bit tricky when you have to decide split second.

I've always wondered how you can drive with an Indian flag in what looks to be European lobbies? I thought you automatically got the servers that belong to the country your PS account is linked to, but apparently this is not the case?

India is EMEA.

Anyone would probably think I'm trying to be bashful or flaunt my victories.....Thing is end of March I was almost going to end my PS membership as I wasn't finding the spark in my skills anymore + many a times track + car combos don't suit me which even makes me want to quit.

I'm playing daily races since 18th June last year & I was so hooked onto to this that I stopped touching TTs, weekly challenge races & even stopped touching the roulette wheel. I came online just online for daily races. There were times I touched 800-1000km on a daily basis (mainly during St. Croix races).

Since feeling burnt out end of March, I didn't even bother to come online daily to reach my 42km target of play. What aches most if I want a wheel but there ain't more space to accommodate it. I know I can be 3x better with the wheel as I've been driving for 27 years in reality & every day even now when I drive my car, I can't wait to hear my racing exhaust. Driving in real is one of those rare occasions when I'm at my confident best, not with the DS4 controller where I struggle with progressive braking or trail braking as it doesn't feel natural with fingers as opposed to feet.

Anyway, for all I've written above, any decent to good result vindicates me & lights up my fire to keep playing via PS subscription to further add to my tally of 1300+ daily races within 1 year of playing.

Cheers.

I am having similar issues. My QT is quite strong at a 44.5, upper mid pack is all DR-A rooms, I have race pace too which is great but a combination of small errors and overly aggressive drivers barging me off when i do make an error, i had two from 2 poor races last night. The first was annoying as I ran a good race but fell a-foul of the most RIDICULOUS pit lane exit, like WTH? I clipped the line BECASE THAT'S WHERE THE AUTO DRIVE SENDS YOU! Cost me 4 places, super annoyed. Second race I made a tiny mistake, 0.5 sec penalty and got absolutely mobbed, shoved and bullied off track from 4th to 14th.

The Nissan does solve the BMW 2nd gear issue, you can use 3rd to exit up the steep hill and out of the tight left hander in sector 3. Still, had a few moments on hards when I get slidey up that hill.

As if being painfully off the pace isn’t bad enough! PD gave me a 4 second penalty for watching a crash 😂😂!!! I know he touched the back of my car but 4 seconds feels bloody harsh!!!

I’ve persevered and finally got my first top 8 finish! Actually been a couple of fun races now I’ve actually managed to work out how to keep the car on the track!!

Sorry @Barney Da Dog no fun back and forth with you this week as you’re far too rapid!!

Had a few laps at deep Forest and might put a bit of time in at the weekend and race. Need to fix the two hairpins as I am losing 2-4 tenths along the straight out of both!!!

I dropped back to BS and 5 races later I’m at 29.7k so I’ll be towards the back of grid before long 😁
haha you're too quick for B mate, especially now you've fixed your CSA issue.

Great to hear you're getting the buzz back mate, keep posting all your wins and races, they're enjoyable tor read!!!!

Oh I think I might have a go with the Nissan then as I am getting bogged down massively in those turns and haven't got the finesse to come out in second without waiting an eternity. Had a few laps with it and it deffo pulls out those corners! I can’t control the understeer on the right hander after the chicane though and just drift waaaaay out wide

The pit lane is ridiculous on the exit and on the entry I am sure I am losing 1 or 2 seconds crawling along it!!!

It's not the exit, it's the entry. The penalty pings on exit but you pick it up on entry; I demonstrated it some time back to... someone who never stuck around long enough to read it.

If you watch the replay of any race in which you get the penalty you'll see it's from clipping the line (and clipping is enough) on entry.

Decided to not bother with Race B this week as mid DR-B lobbies appear to be far too aggressive and it’s a slipstream rally.
Trying for a decent Q time for Race C and haven’t raced yet but I’m intrigued to know what strategy folks are using 🤨.
Thanks Famine regarding pit entry and exit, that’s rather useful info 👌🏻🤠

I watched the replay and the 3 seconds pops up after I exit, but not sure what caused it. On entry I 100% DO NOT touch the outside line, I may touch the inside one a bit but the guy behind me went WAY over it and onto the kerbing and did not get a penalty. On exit I trip over the outside line right as auto drive turns off, I think this is what triggered the penalty.

It always does, whether it happens at entry or exit.

Yeah, if you don't steer with the autodrive then you can absolutely do that, but the autodrive itself doesn't drive you into it. There's a couple like that, with Watkins Glen being a pretty sudden example wherein it can happen within tenths if you don't catch it.

I just tested this because I was dead last after some bell me dove bombed me at the chicane.

Went super slow in and deliberately went over the line out and it gave a penalty so you do get them on the way out

yes mate. Full pit lane penalty
Yeah, if you touch either line you get three seconds, so if you really screw it up there's six seconds waiting. But the notification for both entry and exit penalties come on pit exit, and the AI autodrive doesn't take you into the pit lane exit line; it releases you on that trajectory a couple of tenths before you touch it so you have to be ready to catch it.

It's common for people to assume it's autodrive on pit exit, because you get the notification at pit exit and autodrive releases you real close.

It's stupid close, really is brutal.
It’s even tricky in VR and I’m looking at the whole car.

WG is not the worst for it, famine mentioned earlier there are quite a few exits where the car needs holding straight or a minor correction as the trajectory it gives control back is angled to the middle of the track.

It’s a non issue once you recognise it.

Also remember on both entry and exit it’s not just the outer line that can trigger penalties.

Also don’t get me started about brands entry and exits…

That was my next question, is it just the outside line? I ask because a guy was on my rear end entering at the last race, and he was over the kerb on the right and got nothing.
Typically it’s the outside lines but it depends on what the track limit setting is, if it’s championship a lot of circuits penalise the inside line. I think WG is odd but haven’t actually tested it with where the inside track limit is as there is one on over cutting the curb when racing

7 laps on hards then switch seems to be what people are doing in the races I’ve been in
I've have been pitting lap 6 for the undercut in the Nissan with good results, especially if there is fighting ahead. You need to really save tires in the fast right-hander after the bus stop and also save a bit in the last corner, but otherwise it has been fine.
