Sorry @Barney Da Dog no fun back and forth with you this week as you’re far too rapid!!
I got a pretty decent lap in, but I'm too slow compared to the BMWs in the races. Tried pitting hards to softs on lap 5 but was struggling on the last lap and lost a bunch of places. I'v e not tried racing the 296 yet but it felt pretty good too, and got a similar qualifying time with it..

The pit entry is annoying at WG - even pitting on a lap where you'd expect someone to pit, and indicating right - someone from behind comes powering in and smashing the rear bumper.

I got accused of “blocking”. I thought I was just defending following the racing line setting up for the corner. So they punted me. The question is: is “blocking” a thing when I’m not weaving back and forth across the track? Did I deserve a punt?

Strange one mate, he wasn’t even racing you, he might of been late on the brakes,

But generally you have to let people go in that position, take the left line, one move then stay there or you leave yourself open to that sort of thing unfortunately

Yeah that’s a fast lap, you got that early in the week as well 💪💪💪 my optimum is 43.8 but just can’t hook it all together at the moment!!

Hards are killing me in the race, I’m all over the gaff!

I’ve improved my quali a bit which means I now to get to be punted off from another position on the grid which is nice 😬

Yeah the pit lane sucks! I’m crawling along it, have managed to avoid getting hit so far (usually cos no one is slow enough to be behind me 🤦‍♂️)

Blocking is really when you react to moves from the driver behind.

IMO initially you are slowly drifting left and not reacting to the Citroen, but when he moves right (and clips you?) you move maybe a bit too quickly back to the middle. But to call it blocking is a bit much.

From the punters view it maybe looks like blocking because of both moves, plus the Citroen checking up - but no way it deserves a punt.

Nice to see he got a penalty.

Race C (GT-R) tried pitting lap 6 for softs and was running P3 after undercutting 3 cars - was looking at a possible P2 but started losing time and the guys who pitted on lap 7 were closing in quick on the last half of the lap.

I've not got much time to race this week, but may TT and try and find a few hundredths to catch @newmedia_dev 😘

P1 guy was an A+ alien that finished 16 seconds ahead in a BMW.

Wish they'd had this tyre combo on last week's C - might have spiced it up a bit.

I am having similar issues. My QT is quite strong at a 44.5, upper mid pack is all DR-A rooms, I have race pace too which is great but a combination of small errors and overly aggressive drivers barging me off when i do make an error, i had two from 2 poor races last night. The first was annoying as I ran a good race but fell a-foul of the most RIDICULOUS pit lane exit, like WTH? I clipped the line BECASE THAT'S WHERE THE AUTO DRIVE SENDS YOU! Cost me 4 places, super annoyed. Second race I made a tiny mistake, 0.5 sec penalty and got absolutely mobbed, shoved and bullied off track from 4th to 14th.

The Nissan does solve the BMW 2nd gear issue, you can use 3rd to exit up the steep hill and out of the tight left hander in sector 3. Still, had a few moments on hards when I get slidey up that hill.
Those pitlane penalties are brutal! And if you are overly careful at the entry (which you probably are) you get an extra risk of getting smashed from behind as well.

I did 2 races now in the GT-R, after @BBerlingo posted about it earlier.

Race 1: Mixed DR C / DR B lobby, as a low DR B driver myself. Started 11th. I had absolutely no race pace, but I did keep it on track whereas a lot of others were spinning out. Pitted after 7 laps for softs, and tried to haul in P1 and P2 who started on softs but were now on the hards. But the gap was too big, so I finished P3. Not bad from P11.

Race 2: Suddenly a mixed DR A / DR B lobby where I started all the way back from P16. Again my race pace wasn't very consistent, but I did manage to keep out of trouble. Wanted to pit again for softs on lap 7, but I crossed the outer pit entry line so I continued for one more lap. Came out in P8 after the pitstop, not bad with many DR A drivers in the lobby. I overtook one poor soul who for some reason started on hards and after 4 laps put on the softs, so his tyres were dead. P16 to P7 => I'll take that! Despite running 3 seconds slower than my quali lap.

I prefer the GT-R above the BMW. You always have to be a little careful of course, but even on worn hard tyres I felt sure of my corner exits in T7 and T9. In most laps I saw myself pulling away from or closing in on my competitors at the T7 exit. Quite the opposite from what I experienced with the BMW. Many people are racing it because it simply is the meta, but it can be a fickle car, depending on your driving style.

Generally pretty good racing at the Glen but still way too much barge passing for my liking. I honestly don't think I am yet to be passed without contact, little nudges here and there are enough to move you out of the way. Really annoying when racing tight, ruins all the fun. Had one particularly bad one last night, it was at that tight left in sector 3, guy hits my left rear, i slide a bit, he passes me, then I get caught by the mob. He just carries on and I lose 3 places, no penalty, drives me insane.

Seeing more GTRs but it just lacks a bit of top end. It is very hard to pass the BMW in the Nissan, and if (big if) the BMW driver gets the uphill corner exit right, they are much faster there than the the GTR in 3rd gear.

Yeah I’ve had the same, it’s so frustrating as when the racing is good and you’re all whizzing round nice and tight it’s exciting and lots of fun and some window licker has to ruin it!

It always seems the same with the Gr3 races that if you get bumped off the line, the cars behind have so much acceleration that you end up getting bumped around more and spun by someone further back who hasn’t adjusted to you going slower.

Talking of idiots! I had a 43.7xx on the delta coming round the last corner and decided to driver straight into the wall 🤦‍♂️

I did move a little right. Honestly just setting up for the corner but yeah it could be seen that way I guess.

Personally it’s too bargy for me, and the transition between soft and hard tyres is daft, people starting on the soft struggle on the hard and people starting on the hard have these guys bumping into them all over the place!

Deep forest is ok but not a lot of movement in places unless there are pens or crashes, which gets boring after a while so maybe step back into Suzuka at some point,

I’ve the olds here this weekend so happy to give it a rest for the week.

Yep, once you are offline and lose momentum you just get mobbed, can easily drop 10 places early in a race. A 43.7 is rapid, jebus.

In the races I have done only the top 3 to 4 guys run on softs, everyone else starts on hards.

Mate the GT-R is a good antimeta as suggested by TyrannaCyrusRex. He just said it probably suffers from worse tyre wear when compared to the M6 otherwise it's a good match.

As for me, I'll be sticking the AMG GT3 just because it suits my driving style to make me enjoy & feel confident in the race. I had tried F-Type once but it has bad tyre wear.

Even the pit exit is tricky. Before getting control of the car, it's imp to steer a little to the right otherwise I've seen players get 3 sec penalty for continuing in the automated exit car trajectory which will cut over the pit exit line.

Twice now I have made the mistake of starting on softs in around p10-p12. Felt like some A+driver surfing the first 3 laps but was able to pass without anything dirty (mlstly in sector 3) and found some clean air around p4-p5 on lap4 and 5. On hards I was letting softs through when they caught up, but it was so nerve wrecking watching the deltas close inn from behind. I finished top half both times somehow, probably cause of avoiding carnage in clean air after the first laps. Still wont recommend it 😅

Having run all 3 races this week, I found A the most fun, B the most “on it” and C well, I’ll have to run another as I hadn’t warmed up and also had a bit of loose unit in my race where happily bringing second home but errr ok….

Overall I’ve found the standards quite good, and when moves are made I prioritise exits over contact or corner ownership. Survive and thrive is the mantra.

At times when on pole (in my secondary a/c), I still would start on RH-RS strategy. I never go for the opposite because as the fuel load gets lesser, the speed will increase overall. Better to be with a lesser fuel load on RS which also will help ease tyre wear due to the lessening weight.

Your last para is bible to me. Better to survive than jostle unnecessarily, especially in the starting laps. As we know, every player has a different wavelength of thoughts so it's better to just concentrate on getting the best result without getting messed up. BTW, I always aim for top 5 more than a victory. If I'm leading in the race, I'll try my consistent best to hold on there but won't be dirty in my defense. If someone is faster than me & is making the move for 1st place, I'll let him by simply because then he deserves the victory as he would be more deserving.

That'll be race C then.

Brutal night this evening. 1st the wife soaks my play time, prices for the Croatia v Panama game in Toronto dropped so we lost half the night buying tickets dammit (her parents are Croatian expats).

I finally get a race in and went from p12 to p5 via a combination of good pace and keeping my nose clean as many, many other spun off in an all DRA room. P6 undercut me and P4, lap 9bhe tangles with P4, I tuck my nose in and pass him. We did touch but not very hard and ibadan nowhere to go, his beef wasn't with me. He then loses his mind, barging me left and right, just a complete mental totally ruining my race. Finished p10, man I was steaming.

Another meh week next week then,

Hopefully race A throws something up, this week has not reached the heights for me, but too much choice and when happens I rarely master any of them,

RH on Tokyo gives me hope for next week, I guess gr3 Abu Dhabi could see me through worst case,
I'll prefer Abu Dhabi over Fuji any day if it's night racing. Seems Gr.3 in Race B & Fuji has Gr.4. Fuji I hope comes with dynamic weather though.

Predictions for Race A machinery? For me it has to be a pre-tuned supercar selection that seems the most obvious.

On a side note, I got my 150th online win this week, it was the same race where I celebrated my 100th podium. Nice coincidence!
I’d be happy with those civic touring cars where you need to take it in 4th out of the corners 😁

Did you at least get a bargain on the tickets?

So frustrating when people take a light racing incident and make a massive problem out of it!! Really have to wonder if these are kids or just really emotionally stunted adults.

I’ve given up this week I think, not had a good race yet, mixture of me being off the pace but mostly people just pushing past in the turns rather than waiting for a clean spot to overtake. Really frustrating week.

@BBerlingo good to see you out there doing your thing for a few races!!!

@brockie it will be race B for me next week if I do play next week.

Yabbi dabbi over Fuji? Hard pass there, take fuji any day, AD is just awful.
Yeah it’s not amazing but it’s down the road from me so has a bit of pull and I’m also Race C’d out from the last few weeks. Plus this is the third time I will have had this track so will enjoy not having to learn a track as Fuji I haven’t actually raced yet
I bet A will be the one!
Is this the Tokyo that we had start of the year at night with the Supra as the meta?

Yeah I think it is, with the pit under the bridge on the hairpin,
