Neville you referring to me? My DR got hurt bad in the last few Manus cup races, which dropped it, I was originally a B Rated Driver.

Profound sadneesss! The DR system and Nurburgring gave me nasty nut punch.

Got even a worse reset (from A/S to C/C) last year around this time at Le Mans, when it was Gr1 with dinamic weather... I feel for you m8.😥 Eventually it was a cathartic revelation. Since then I'm way less focused on DR rating and absolutely more "zen" during races. To the point that I feel careless about any potential result like podiums or wins. Btw, that gif... Made my day. 🤣

Is everyone doing the nations this weekend, I reckon I’m going to pick a new car this weekend and give that bad boy a go,

Watching the qualifying at the moment and might dedicate some time to it this year whilst it’s on.

Was going to see if anyone was up for a open lobby until I spotted the nations was playing 😁

Really hoping for a better week of dailies next week because it’s a good week I’m missing seemingly for a few weeks at the moment!

Until then I’ll lurk about 😂

I really want to enjoy Race B but I'm just so darn slow and then forcing it causes mistakes making things worse. Then I got a server disconnect for the first time ever.

Also the car (WRX) feels very different in the race compared to qualifying - anyone else noticed that?

No mate I won't. Hoping to try and find the race pace to get some good racing in C this week.
Fair play mate, my kids sports is mornings on the weekend but 2-4 is hardcore gaming time for us all at the weekend 😁
What games do you guys all play together? My eldest is at an age where he is starting to show an interest in it.
Race C is a bit meh, there's no real strat and it seems a lot of laps.
I feel like there is good racing to be had out there but I just can't find the race pace, my quali is putting me P6-12 which I'm fine with but I'm so far off the pace (lapping high mid 33's to high 34's) but it leaves me pottering around on my own after 3-4 laps watching the field pull away and 10+ laps each race on your own is very dull.

As I said, it's a shame as racing close here looks like it would be fun.

How have your races been? Have you had some close racing?

Only did two, yeah one was last on my own, other was OKish but despite running quite consistent mid to high 33's i was slowest on track but finished P12. I was closer on my second run but missing half a second a lap to run with the pack. Interestingly, i followed a guy who caught and passed me from 4 seconds back, yes his tires were 2 laps fresher but i tried to hang with him to see where i was slow.

I was pretty dang close up until the final right hander, he is FIRING out of there and gaping me by a solid 6 to 7 tenths, ridiculous, nfi how that is possible. He just vanishes.

Sorry I meant that time in the pm on the weekends we do our gaming thing,

My lads play FC with their mates or Roblox/ Fortnite

Garbage 😂

@Lightsider74 I couldn’t get on with it either, but the Nissan felt ok in race and the G70 feels good too

It’s not different it’s just a mix of heavier with fuel counted and tire temps mater more in the first few laps but it cascades. Coast heavily in the first laps and open up a bit more later on.

Also counter intuitively I try to drive smooth rather than smashing the gearbox “for rotation init” because it forces more carried coasted or trail braked speed:

There's barely anything between the Nissan and Subaru in my hands. Surprised someone hasn't put the Nissan on the first LB page. Tried the G70 but was a fair bit slower.

I'm losing the back end under braking into the final right hander in the race but not in qualifying. Did almost ten :48.1s on the bounce in qualifying so I must be doing something fundamentally different to the top times.

You are braking to hard to deep and the transition at brands where the timing is why its laptimes split by 1/100ths.

It’s honestly I’d guess brake transition, late braking locking the rear losing momentum.

@Lightsider74 it’s this exactly, prior to the final right hander you’re going to be hard on the brake, but not so hard that the back-end steps out or locks up. Under acceleration into the right-turn you’ll feel the car pull hard and it’ll naturally head towards the outside on the optimum line. I’m not usually on the daily races, but I have a few days off here so figured I’d grind a bit 😋

Entered a race C with the 992, started P13, finished p10 by just keeping nose clean. Then I went and chased my QT,, I figured out incase just not getting on the fas early enough. TBH it feels unnatural, I've done a bit of track time IRL and man, getting on the throttle before the apex feels weird but so be it. Managed a 32.5, 32.3 optimal.

That got me P9 in an all DRA room, I was pushed and shoved and hit back to P13. Settled down and got on it, ran consistent 33.1 to 33.4 laps on the mediums, was up to P10 with more guys to pit. I was driving very, very, very hard though. Guy in front of me half lost it, I took too much kerb exiting T3 and spun dammit. Finished P11, would have been P5, man i was peeved.

Is this the tight right hander that leads on to thwt big sweeping left? if so i'm the same, I just don't see how those guys are getting on the gas at the apex and just pulling it round and out, I have to wait until I'm much straighter otherwise I go off or spin. Pretty impressive to see them do it so smoothly.

He's just started mine craft on the ipad and a bit of mario kart - think I will get him a switch for xmas and connect it to the tv and start playing some games.

@NevilleNobody yeah the chaos of fortnite or those fast FPS games doesn't suit me, I quite enjoy the souls like games like Elden Ring etc... on the rare occasion I'm not drawn to GT.

Nice work on the quali, such a shame on the spin, a P5 would have been a great result!!

You've definitely got a better consistent race pace than me, I wasn't going to race tonight but I think you've inspired me now :)

I think I'm going to increase the brake force setting now I'm getting used to the feel now.

As for other games I used to play Destiny 1 and 2 almost exclusively for years and also play Elden Ring. Are you lot getting Halo: Campaign Evolved? Absolute classic imho. One of those games you think about during the day and can't wait to finish work so you can play again. Great story and gunplay. I'm getting it on PC.

Don't tell me, guys, that I'm alone playing Warzone. 🤣 I use it often as a warm up to get lil angry (cause the immense amount of cheaters) and "adrenalinic" before switching to GT7.
When I just want to chill out, I play Chess, Oddoworld or Shadow of the colossus.
Then there's always some Assassin Creed or Tomb Raider, those are still a must.
Waiting for GTA6 btw...

Oh B lobbies I’ve missed you 😂 thought I’d jump on the alt account to try and get some racing as I’m just driving around on my own at the back in A but was in my own at the front in B 😂. Started 7th in next one and had an absolutely class race, we were all on same tyres compound and had a real battle all the way round between 5-9. First race I’ve had a proper race and enjoyed. Think I will camp out in B on the Alt for the rest of the week or until my times are consistent high 32/low 33.

You like blasting mofo’s by the looks of it 😂 I’m less guns, I like to have a big sword and run around smacking things so the souls games really fit in!

I’ve looked at shadow of the colossus a few times, thought it looked a big slow. You recommend it?

If anyone is looking for a game,In terms of probably the best game I think I’ve ever played (in my 12 month gaming career😂) has to be expedition 33, the sound track, story, cinematic and gameplay were phenomenal! Highly become if you’re looking for something to do

If I keep racing in Gr.3 and 4 I'll be back in B soon. I said when I first got into GT7 MP I thought I'd be a mid DR B player. Overall I thinks that's still accurate.

As for liking blasting Mofos - fantasy/aliens then yes. However one of the most satisfying gameplay moments is using the fully levelled Morning Star Mace in Elden with the Lions Claw Ashes equipped. Hammering some really really annoying baddy into the ground. Just feels so right hahaha 🤣

Where are you struggling with Gr3 and Gr4? on the leaderboard you always seem to have good times? Or are you struggling in the races?

I've given up on Dr (well as much as you can, it's always going to be there in your thoughts). Going to keep my alt account in B and if by weds/thurs I am still way off the pace I will switch to that and enjoy close racing rather than wait for the main to drop all the way into B then go through the same cycle of hammering the b lobbies the week after to get back in A.

Yes that Lions Claw was immense, lad at work is dual wielding the morning stars and loves it, I went full on blasphemous blade and just loved lighting people up. Was an incredible game, have you played the other fromsoft games?

Yeah just not consistent enough in the races and so difficult to regain places after a mistake. Many of the tracks are new to me still. You can be familiar with a track and then you can know a track. However in Gr.3 and 4 I'm still off pace regardless. I'm better in slower rwd machines.

No, only played Elden. Completed it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Started Shadow of the Erdtree but got stuck and put it to one side for now. It's sometimes a bit too difficult. I loved the Shadow of Mordor/War games too.

It's one of my preferred game ever on PS. It might look slow, but there are some colussuses that really make you sweat. Also I love the kinda vintage aspect of remastered games.

Mate I was in the same boat, especially in Gr3 and when we had brands hatch, road Atlanta and spa then suzuka it was a bloodbath for me. Some unsolicited advice :) For me, I just decided that I would take it on the chin and dedicated myself to only racing Gr3 until I got the hang of it - took me all of those races i just mentioned and it was a miserable massacre for 4 weeks and dropped from 33k to 12k DR and honestly thought I was on for D, but then something finally clicked and had great weeks at Reb Bull and Kyoto. I think the race craft is purely just time behind the wheel - I'm much better with when to let people go, where to overt take/where to bump draft (still an absolute beginner but better than I was, lots to learn still). You've definitely got the raw pace for A mate.

Think we are in the same boat with new tracks as I started only a little before you, if deffo helps when it's a repeat track to be upto speed quicker.

Yeah Shadow of the Ertree was rough, I completed it but had to summon someone in for the finally Radhan fight as it was just obscene. If and when you are looking for a new game, I can't recommend bloodborne highly enough, same studio as Elden Ring and I enjoyed it more than Elden Ring.

Ok - I'll take the recommendation and will give it a whirl, playing Black Myth Wukong at the moment when i get too frustrated with GT7

Sometimes I just feel like an old dog who can't learn new tricks and I suppose I cba'd to learn new tricks. Combos like the RS500 at Brands, 180X at Fuji and the old Merc at WG are my happy places. I've still got Forza Motorsport embedded in me and I sorely wish it hadn't been abandoned. RWD was meta and open class MP lobbies (E to S class cars) was where I raced. Build your own car and everything was on Racing soft tyres. The tracks were on rotation each race so you'd be at Road Atlanta one race followed by say Suzuka then say Mugello, Silverstone etc.

That's not to say I haven't had an absolute blast at times with you guys on GT7 because I have! it's just I feel I'm at the mercy of what PD are going to serve up each week.

I'm definitely going to check out those other games you suggested. Thanks 👊🏼

I fell into the trap of DR hunting and it started to take away the games enjoyment. Over a period of 3-4 weeks I fell like a stone from DR-A to DR-C and just couldn't fathom where I was going wrong. I then read on here other's wise words about playing/race for the enjoyment and how fast Q times are so important and the big difference between Q laps and race laps. Developing race craft is an art in it's self.
All said and done, I can now confidently race in most DR-B lobbies and will focus on the fun element and if the DR climbs that will be a huge bonus.

Games wise I enjoyed God of War but being a VR player I have to say the MSFS 2024 is fantastic. 🤠

Yeah I feel that pain mate on learning new tricks. That's why I'm going to trial out these two accounts in A and B and just race wherever I'm having the most fun that week. That way it doesn't matter if PD give a shocking combo, I will find somewhere to race competitively.

Hope you find a solution mate, always good to tussle with you on the leaderboard.

Funnily enough God of War was the first ever game I played when i bought my first ever PlayStation last year at the ripe old age of 43 :) was incredible and bought the follow up Ragnarök immediately after. New one coming out soon as well!

Yes I think we've all been guilty of that DR hunting taking away the enjoyment of racing, seems like it all hit us most when we were closing in on A for the first time, which i think is understandable as you just want to achieve it. I do remember following your rise to A closely and it was exciting!!!

I just want to have a competitive race now and that doesn't matter if it's for P1 mid pack or racing a couple of people the whole round not to finish last, just finding enjoyment in the actual racing as taken a whole bunch of stress off! Obvs more fun to be at the font but happy to be in a fight wherever.

Where are you racing this week Mr B?
