Have you considered racing? What's gt8 gonna offer that 7 doesnt?
 
My first session at Willow Springs and I got this. Technically it was my second session, but my first session was only one lap.

I did this while actually testing out live streaming. Somebody said to me that now I’m retired, I should live stream as we need more Gen-X live streamers in the community. I don’t think anybody would ever watch me cause I’m mediocre at best, but it was fun trying to do this.

Perhaps I’ll start doing a live stream of the daily races on Monday morning. I don’t know about time trials, but the big question is whether anybody actually joins the stream. Lol.

I’m not sure which version of Dragon Trail is more harrowing - the standard layout with the chicane of death bear the end of the circuit, or the reverse layout with the incredibly tricky chicane at the end with the curb that’ll bounce you off the circuit. Extreme aggression seems to be the answer here 🙂 really cutting the curb in that last chicane gives the best result. There’s an optimal for me in the low .2s if I can nail sector one… I’ve no idea of if I will have the time, patience, or skill to obtain it but I will try 🙂

With no aids i find the RC F somewhat undriveable. It’s like the car has no mechanical grip and it will break traction at the slightest twitch of the wheel. Perhaps I’m just not “man enough” to drive it 🤷🏼‍♂️

I resorted to aids. I’m currently running ASM and CCA Weak. TCS is off though, I’d rather have it slide a bit than bog down. Next session I’ll switch CCA off and see if i can improve.

Dragon Trail Reverse is a challenging track. Frustrating and also rewarding at the same time. Rewarding when you nail a section but frustrating in that you rarely nail them all on the same lap.

Why ps4 is not good for dailies specifically?
I'm also on ps4, but not really doing dailies (I prefer live qualifying-race format), doing GTWS from time to time and haven't got any bad feelings.

I'm really curious.

I reakon you've got the talent to spook some top dogs in the nation's cup and man cup. You use fairly rudimentary gear too, you've a very, very high ceiling.

Are you going to switch to another game?

I was always planning to switch to PC racing once i retired, but now i have, PC prices are ridiculous (I’d need a whole new rig) so I’m staying on GT for now.

I’m about 80+% complete with the game. I should finish the last few percent and then hope the Spec IV throws some life into the game.

Hey all - nice to see a couple of old favorites return!!!
Final run in the SLS yesterday at Willow Springs and managed to connect it all together. Really happy with this lap overall, and don't have any intention of trying to go faster!

Moved onto the Lexus yesterday - quite difficult to get my head around it initially. Went back to it this morning and put in a longer session and starting to make progress, but still a few tenths to find. Wide tires WITH the wider offset were important here. ABS weak, no CSA

I used the wide tires in my first run yesterday with a small wing. Move to wide tire / wide offset today with a big wing and it helped. Can't confirm whether is was the wider offset or the big wing that introduced the benefit (for my talent limit). Not using CSA or TCS, so haven't tried in combination with those

You can test it, but (imo) if there is a difference it’s very small, you aren’t going to find chunks of time with a wing or wide / offset tyres.
 
Wooo Hooo! Goal hit! 53s and Top 10 USA. (for now) just missed global top 100
I messed up S2, so I know there is some time there and the last chicane is sucking a ton of time as well. So going for a top100 and maybe squeeze into the top 5 usa.

CSA strong, default ABS, wide tires and med wing.

Great to know you're still around mate.

I am 100% sure you'll be back on top in no time at all if and when you decide to put some more energy into the game again. Consensus seems to be that the physics update has not been unkind to pad drivers ;)

It might be true it might be myth. Different posters as well as top streamers have differing opinions on this.

Personally I kind of doubt it. Then again there was this one TT at Lake Louise many months ago where different tires may have scraped the tire well and made the car slower.
 
I really don't like the Lexus. Most of the time it's sliding all over the place and basically unrecoverable, but occasionally - exactly when you want it to slide - it has grip for days. Annoying.

I've definitely felt noticeable differences with wider wheels and/or a wing.

We certainly shouldn't, but they're there.

I'd be interested to know if the top times in the TTs are set with or without wide wheels and wings. It seems to me if there was actually a benefit to one or the other, the top guys would take advantage of it for sure.

I remember on the Z28 at Alsace, almost all the top times had larger/wider wheels and a wing. That was right around when @Tidgney 's video came out.
 
Really could only find about a tenth at Willow Springs today (though I got down to the low 1:21s, and initially, a 1:20.963...a whole 6 thousandths quicker...a lot faster). The curb on that last LH and the bit where the curb wiggles on the final turn really keep screwing lap after lap up.

Did get down to a 1:20.880, optimum of a .714, and know I have more time, but I really can't get this car to behave consistently. And it loves to go off right at the end and ruin that lap and invalidate the next.

Anything obvious?

Agreed - as a further point (albeit with the old physics) the 911 event at the ‘Ring a few months back was counter and wide tires/offset was not helpful to balance and speed around the lap @Wilsonson

Thankfully the lap is quick enough I'd just run it and keep my +/- reference.

And inevitably invalidate the next lap as well.

doh! just as I've come back into the gt community. good to see you again.

I only bought gt7 a couple of months ago and have been giving the time trials a go. I don't seem to have the love or the desire to do any online racing like years ago.

got a 53 0 on the Lexus completely stock no aids with room to improve. started to get the hang of it. had to use the Pad for that because my throttle pedal is flickering lately and not giving me full throttle
