Down to 1:16.077 at Deep Forest. I watched a couple of laps from the top guys after my session and have a few things to try for next time.

I saw that the WR on the Alpha TT changed, and my 1:40.5xx was now silver.

Took me a while, but I spent almost 130 miles to get my gold back. I hope it doesn't change much more, my optimal lap was 1:39.7xx but I don't think I have the patience to get there. Plus, I need some time to gold Fuji and secure a good silver time for the Olympic TT.

Well, yeah pretty much :D I always screw up the last hairpin when I'm on a new record run. On a slower lap I'm having no problems being fast there but whenever I've nailed the first two sectors I either take it too cautiously or spin. It's like a mental thing I can't get over and it happens every single time.

One thing I've found out is that I get slightly faster lap times by setting the brake bias towards the rear.

Iā€™ve done a few laps today and i can see now that anything in the 1:15.xxxā€™s is also no joke so well done sir šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼ Iā€™m hoping to join you and get Gold but itā€™s going to take some grinding for me!

A little improvement on the RBR/Alfa today but still largely frustrating. The Fuji/Gr.3 is actually my favourite out of the three, the consistent/predictable gr3 handling is a fresh change from the other TTā€™s and I like Fuji, the last sector is always entertaining! Looking forward to getting stuck into it later especially as the RSR is so strong there (definitely one of my favourite cars in GT7!)

Unsure if the RBR time trial time has improved in the last 24h, but I logged on late last night and I had a cushion of approx. 0.003 to gold cut-off. I'll need to log some more laps and try improve some more. There's not much comfort in that margin!!

I logged on and found the time had dropped by two tenths, so I put some laps in and dropped my time by 5 tenths down to a 1:40.067, giving me 3 tenths margin at the moment! Hopefully there's not much more movement up top!!

Then I managed to string together a couple of trouble free laps in the Toyota, but a pretty poor 1:20, so miles off silver even! Might have another stab at that tomorrow...
 
Barely had 30 minutes of playtime today and had to try to improve my time on RBR TT. Managed to get a 1.39.9. Let that be enough cause I don't want to spend more time trying to find more time out of that TT. I also gave the Olympic event a go for the first time today, I expected it to be a real pain based on some of the comments on this thread but I'd take it over the RBR TT. On my 7th lap I managed to get get 1.17.8 with my optimal at 1.16.8. A bit of a shock to be honest. Don't want to overestimate my skills but with some more seat time, if I can nail all the sectors, I might just be able to get gold on that one....that is of course if all the aliens stop improving.
 
I cannot face any more laps at the RBR, but the record time is still coming down so I donā€™t think Iā€™m safe (currently at 2.82%). I do have a lower optimal time but I noticed that time updates even when you set an invalid/unfair sector time, so I think itā€™s a bit misleading. I started working on Fuji today instead.

If I was a top ten racer, in the last couple of days I might consider the thousands and thousands of people that would lose their rewards and not try to push the time even lower!

After all the frustration laps with the sudden lock understeer action on the slower corners i just bought another controller did about 30-ish laps on Deep Forrest this morning, alarm at O six hundred, poured myself a nice Lungo and shredded the hell out of the GR010 tires, TCS 0 gave me an optimum 1:16.6xx, last sector time of 48.9xx, i was so hyped that i stuffed op the last corner and trew it all away, that was a nice lap :banghead: :lol: :banghead:

Focus was kind of gone then, but restarted with TCS1 again trying to keep in the flow, then finally into the 16'
and pushed out 1:16.8xx :):)

My goals was getting in the 16' cause fast high downforced is just not my strength, i'm a roadcar dude :lol:

But happy, and ofcourse i'll try till the end!

D. Chafe (currently first) improved a couple hundreds of a second. Thatā€™s why the Gold target time moved.

Itā€™s amazing how those top guys can ā€œmanipulateā€ the Gran Turismo physics.

If you watch the top drivers they are all throwing the car into the higher speed corners at ridiculous speeds; almost out of control. It makes them a lot of time on corner entry and gets the car rotated better than taking a controlled smooth line, so they are much earlier on the power.

Itā€™s ridiculous and unrealistic but takes a lot of skill so whilst I hate that itā€™s possible to do it.. I do respect the people who can! Iā€™ve tried and when I go to hot into a corner, I just end up playing in the gravel šŸ˜¬ extensive scientific experimentation on my PlayStation has confirmed that driving through gravel is not the quickest way around a racetrack.

@Gomario JSP amazing performance sir!! High downforce cars are definitely a challenge on a pad! Itā€™s a revelation driving them on a wheel, really enjoyable but I havenā€™t quite mastered them yet šŸ˜¬. Epic time though, I wonder how many have managed to get Gold so far on a pad??

I'm fighting the GR010, i tried 3 controllers but i keep running against the same problem, don't know what it is,
sometimes it just doesn't get my steering input and then suddenly it does sometimes
tried to show it on video but it's not that clear what happens, but in both videos i'm at full steering input on DS4

Should i buy more downforce or a 4th controller??? :lol: :lol:

So my 17.0 still stands :banghead:

It seems you are giving too much steering input, causing the front tyres to lose lateral grip and resulting in this heavy understeer, especially with high downforce cars in slow corners. Try using 80-90% input or gradually increase steering input instead of going full lock.

I've experienced the same effect on DS4. Cars tend to push over the front wheels with too much steering lock. Sometimes ā€œpumpingā€œ the steering helps to break traction loss and regain lateral grip. Lowering the steering sensitivity also helps preventing locking the steering too much, but you lose a lot of steering fidelity with less sensitivity.

Yeah, itā€™s just ridiculous. But I totally share the exact same opinion as you. I hate the fact that you can go faster driving that way on Gran Turismo but I take my hat off to the guys who can do that. To predict that kind of behaviour of a certain car to every specific corner takes a lot of effort and practice of course. But you have to forget everything you know from the real world. And if you have to forget the real world, well, thatā€™s not the ā€œReal Driving Simulatorā€ šŸ¤£
From my personal side I always try to be as fast as I can in the most realistic way of driving a car on a race track. Thatā€™s the most important thing for me.
 
I'm another in the 'try to drive realistically' camp, I don't want to have to learn exploits to get a good time, that doesn't feel like fun and it's not important enough to me to be competitive that I want to go through that process.

I'm happy aiming for gold, and have definitely found my driving has improved a lot from doing these time trials. The first one I tried was back on the controller, the Corvette at Watkins Glen and it took me probably 200+ laps to scrape a gold time. Obviously the wheel and VR help immensely but the fact I am sometimes managing a gold time within 5 laps these days is an enormous improvement. I really hope they stick to having multiple TTs now, it's nice to have multiple options and for there to be more rewards coming in!
 
In the olympics time trial we drive a hybrid. Is there any button to press to get the battery power going? The green stripe stayed relatively full on the lap i was driving. Didn't care much as it was an ok time, i did.

It seems it's giving away power automatically up to a certain speed I think (there's a green arrow blinking when it does). But it is very slow at that. Drove an Audi R18 '16 recently and it's out of battery juice before the end of a Le Mans lap. Recharge from braking is much slower.

Do we think we're looking at 1:39s at RBR to be 'safe' now? Surprised how much the gold time has dropped so am now worried I'm not as safe as I thought! Think I'll put in some laps tonight to get a 1:39, how many more tenths can they really shave off!!
 
I've not seen the top lap round RBR, but quick calculations suggest that a 1:37.0 would set the gold threshold at 1:39.9, a 1:36.5 would set the threshold at 1:39.395.

I can't see the times improving by almost a second, so would expect mid-39s to remain safe, high 39s are in potential danger

These give you top times, just multiply by 1.03 to get the gold threshold (or 1.015 for the nuts Olympic threshold)

RBR with the Giulia, 1:42.590... if only I did not have a track limit penalty, but I can't figure out where those limits are :irked: it was before or in the last turn not sure.

I will watch @Mistah_MCA's video, to become a bit more knowledgeable, I am sure I can grasp silver but I need less random laps.

You can go wide on the green on the way into turns 1, 2, 3 & 4 but not out of them.

You cannot go wide either into or out of the last 2 turns - so those are the ones where you need to be careful.

I am no expert and only just into gold. Someone better than me might be able to give you better advice.

Silver should be achievable if you keep it tidy.

Apparently you can go on the green before the last turn, but not the red. Not sure about the green after the last turn.

And you can go really wide before turn 1.

I have to try again.
