Didn’t end up running again at RA, mainly because I’m enjoying the Safety Car so much :lol: Had another run this evening and picked up another 3 tenths. I think a 12.750 is on if I can avoid silly mistakes. Happy with this time, but I can see where there’s more opportunities. Uploaded the replay. Going to finish with this before moving onto the Alfa

Evening folks,

I ran some extra miles in the Giulia this evening and I am more than pleased how this one runs on my remote setup, one of the better until now, so while the wife watches Grace Anatomy I am dancing with the Alfa

Times went down slowly and I even had a invalidated high 8xx

Very fun combo for me, I always liked Maggiore but it's a real treat with this car!

Into the 2:11's 😁 whoop whoop 🥳

Figured I'd give the Alfa it's first go, resulting in a 2:13.152, and that's only good enough for 561st - wow!

Looks like I'll need myself a nice mid-high 2:12 to be in "the usual" spot, which certainly may be doable. It's a fun combo, at least!

I'm excited to try this one with the way everyone is talking about it. I really enjoyed the RA/Mazda. I have a feeling this will be close.
 
I have not had much time to be on GT7 recently, but hopped on just to check out the time trials. WOW is a Giulia TZ2 a nice time trial. So fun to drive!

Results from my first session. Would love to drive more but probably this is one and done for me (looking after my wife post surgery)

Woke up, turned on PS5 & GT7 and I saw there are 2 new leaders over Adam, and I was still in gold, but at 2.98%.

So I asked Giulia, please be fast - and she listened to me; almost second of improvement!



Maybe I can even go under 14 if everything fits...
 
I’m not a huge TT’er but just recently I’m squeezing more and more golds out, the RA was epic fun and I got glued to that one, looks like I’ll just about get the gold for trial mountain too 😁 the Alfa will take a few more tries, I need about 8 tenths there.

I must say you fast guys speed and car control is absolutely amazing to see in the replays, always pulls me a little further on.

Right, about the Roadster TC at Road Atlanta. So I did a 1’28.114 Monday evening, couldn’t be bothered to try again Tuesday but I gave it a chance again on Wednesday and noticed the pace was still there and came to me immediately so I decided to give it a proper attempt again. Began to manage the first sector and especially T2 and T5 quite well, where I previously had enormous problems.

Eventually managed the improvement I was looking for but with a big but... As I was going up the hill and under the Fox Factory bridge it felt absolutely borderline as I was following Damian if it was an improvement or not, the thought flew through my head if I was going to abort the lap or follow through and complete it as I felt it was super tight, in the end I cross the line and see .113. Ahhhh. So stupid. :banghead::banghead: It could barely be considered an improvement. Really annoying because it was clearly a worse lap, noticeably behind in S1 and S2 but managed to keep it pretty well under control for the final T10.

The previous (and by one thousandth slower) lap was honestly a better (and better looking) lap, I didn’t want the replay of that new PB. Forced to improve again? Yep.

I got that real improvement in the end as I kept going, had a pretty nice S1 at .756, the following two 90 degree right turns felt somehwat sketchy but made it through OK, hit a .988 on the back stretch, T10 could’ve been a little better but surprisingly difficult to nail and the smallest mistake cost so much due the the low speed of the car but the passage was alright, went across the line with a .055.



T5 was crazy good, really lotto hit that one perfectly.



Once I had an absolutely insane S1 but the mind obviously screwed with me too much to manage to carry that lap home, if only!

The Alfa and I were not seeing eye to eye tonight and it was refusing to turn most of the time, so while I was able to drop into the 2:12s, it was only a 0.894, while my optimum is down in the .3's. I'll get there... eventually.

I should also note - I recal'd the gas pedal because it seemed like it was hitting 100% before the end of travel (and it was), but that resulted in a pedal that let off a lot rather than a little, so it was hard to go 80% throttle, as you'd instead be at about 20%, which was annoying.

I'm still waiting to hear back from AXC on if the replacement linear potentiometer looks good (the first one had the scale shifted too far up, so the nub would go off the scale at full throttle) before I install it, as that'll be much, much better.

It took me very long to get descent split times before bankybooiii, yesterday I ran multiple .3xx's but couldn't get to it today, only higher .4xx's so there is definitely a tenth left but the roulette of banky on the pad ( maby on the wheel to ) is real....verh hard to rotate properly.

Not to bad, but a .7 is absolutely possible
But happy to shave some time off 😁
Not to Shaabbbyy at all and fairly happy with it despite it was not close to the optimals

But you have to be living on the edge on somenay places, cutting whole corners to get a descent time is key, as we all said... it's way to soft on the invalidation this one but we have to work with it 🤣

Very last corner, we mowed the cr*p out of the lawn right there....on the edge but still no invalidation 🤣

The Miata had me at my wits’ end, so I sent it back to its mum without winning gold.....😡.....and if this carries on, the ‘safety car’ might well meet the same fate......😂😂😂

With the old Alfa, it’s everything I love... grip, no weight transfer, not too fast so my old brain can keep up...
in short, pure pleasure... 😂 😂

And as I had a 13.8xx in ‘time opti’, I think I’ll be back there before the end...

Oooosh you are on for a high placed finish buddy nice work!

First try with that delightful Alfa today, one of my favourite cars and an absolute delight on VR; minimalist, cool AF interior with that wonderful Jaeger rev counter. Plus that view out of the windscreen with the bonnet bulge, flanks and single wing mirror. Simply lovely!

I quite like the track but wrong choice tyres again in my opinion; if they had swapped the tyre choice with this and the mx5 at RA we would have had two dreamy combos.. instead we have one too lively and one too benign! Slightly odd kerb dynamics too and it’s just a bit weird. Easy to be fast though!

Did a session in the Alfa last night. Took a few laps to get somewhat acclimated to it, but then, the beer said, hey bud, let's party. :lol: Me and the gearbox are not getting along either. I want to downshift to 2nd and that is not working, so mentality fighting that. Did break into the 2:12's though with a .958. Work on it more tonight.

I am enjoying the Giulia! Into the low 2:12s. My optimals are in the 11.8s so this will haunt me until I can improve 😂 This car is very sticky, and I think I’m braking slightly too much when it comes to T2 and the big bankie boy… will go again later on.
