Ahhh, the Gasoline gods were forgiving tonight! I was allowed a valid lap finally! 🤪
Pulled a 9:47.404 and had several bad mistakes in it. Tried CSA, but this car feels wonky with it on, so, turned it back off. Slammed a brew and sent it. 🤣
I'll work on it some more, I'll be damned if I let this car whip my ass.

Finally got a better time at Trial Mountain in the Porsche 992.
Previous best was 1:53.023, improved to 1:52.983...
falls purdue football GIF

Optimal should be 52.7xx but I don't know if I'll chase it. The 'ring has already claimed me.

There I improved from a 9:52.8 to a 9:52.0 but with a really clumsy final quarter of the lap so gold should be on the table if I can stop screwing up the first half lap whilst trying to improve the final part of the lap :banghead:

Morning guys,

Had another go thru the German Eifel, and actually wasn't planning to push cause didn't sleep that well so a bit of focus lacking
So started a bit less agressive for my feeling, i think i did hit Barry-R (T2) the sharp left hander 6 times in row and was completely done with it, after that i ran one valid lap without stress and went faster than i did before?? :boggled:   ( must be the console then! ;))

Not bad for 52 miles this morning at o-six-hundred , signed sealed and delivered, off to work then

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial: Keep Calm and Carrera On

This week’s new Online Time Trial is German through and through. Gran Turismo 7 pairs one of Porsche’s most beloved classics, the 911 Carrera RS (901) ’73, with the full 24h layout of the Nürburgring on Sports Medium tires...
Ouch - time to put my money where my mouth is. I've said before that this car/track combo is pretty much my favourite thing in the game - it is so much fun, and I've done it many times, so I should hopefully get a silver in this (I just looked up my records, and my best is 9:54.242, comfortable silver but way off a gold!!). [EDIT: 9.59 is my best so far... different set up but still great fun to drive...]

A couple of personal details:

#1 The photo used here (by @Dan_Tes) is the exact location where I accidentally gate-crashed a camp, and ended up hanging with them for about 3 hours. Their hospitality and friendliness was a real highlight of my trip, and the view of the track that they had was spectacular.

#2 On my first trip to the N24, I ended up at Spiegelkurve at sunset during the race and met a guy and his father there. It turned out to be Klaus and Niklas Frers, who had taken part in the historic race earlier in the day in their own '73 Porsche 911 RSR.

I don’t do as many TT’s as I should, but when I do - I try to get gold in an unorthodox fashion. One of my small gripes about this game and sport mode, is the inability to use H pattern shifters. So while I can’t use my shifter as I would like, I decided I can still heel-toe with my sequential, and see how it goes. First 2 laps, and a couple seconds off Gold. I’ll be able to get it, it’s just gonna rage some time to get a clean lap in

I guess no better time than the last night to make some progress, but managed to drop nearly another two tenths tonight at Trial Mountain, down to a 1:51.793.

Car was absolutely fighting me to hell and back, so I figured I'd switch over to weak ABS and see what that got me, and it was about a hundredth faster than my previous best on the first or second lap so...that was a promising sign.

My optimal was a .625, and perhaps I can improve, but honestly, my brakin' knee is getting tingly (I did plenty of laps at Suzuka with that MP4/4 last night to Gold the Super Master License final test, so that's probably why), and I don't want to be racing for another hour.

Low 400s is acceptable placing to me, knowing full well I do not place well with high-aero cars like this, especially with so many crazy people out there.

I did close in a lot to @bigfluffy888 compared to where I was, so I feel good about leaving it here. Sorry @NicoGmbh 😆...though I swear if I wake up and find you snuck back past me...🤣

Here's to hoping for a fun, short lap at a track that doesn't suck.

So it'll be a 10 minute lap at LeMans in a Toyota Aqua.

Group 2 cars tend to have a revbar that is calibrated well enough. You get minor exceptions where the Audi '19 is shifted at ~3/4th bar in higher gears.
Gr. 2 cars optimal shift points

The X2019 is one where my charts say to rev it out but since the revs go up so fast, you naturally do this anyway. The gain is minor in the end.

Feedback on the charts is welcome, as well as potential test subjects for the shift tone in the same repository.

Yeah... i was home today, national day off here in the Netherlands and was waiting for the new TT..... Villeneuve... definitely one of my least favo tracks, it's an akward pair of stringed corners together with a quillotine at the end...yeeeyy.. 🤣

Impressive amount of downforce on the fast corners but annoying low downforce and rotation on the slower corners, found the GTR a bit easier to handle ....

Not my cup of thee as we know by now
No save gold though 🤣

Then Monza......Redbull X 2019......no....just no...

I like your work a lot and totally agree in the theory underlying it. Sometimes however when it indicates short shifting it feels as if waiting longer is faster anyways. I noticed this with the Porsche in the Nordschleife TT for example. Optimal shift into 6th is at 202 kph but the ghosts im following seems to be revving it for longer and pull away. Not sure what to make of this but just wanted to put this observation out there.

Again I'm going to doctor on Thursday, because he works that day with outside patients...
Both new TTs are great, specially Gr.2 machine (I'm almost sure there will again be only 1 way to go car - and bcs of the that I love specific car events) on CGV.

Really!? It's like they don't want me to play.

Just not my cup of tea at all.
Same here. I'll stick to having fun at Nürburgring until next Wednesday and then, just to maintain my gold streak, go do both these new ones just enough to get a safe gold (2%-ish, hopefully won't take too long, although Gr.2 at GV might be a struggle).

You guys are still stupid fast. I def don't have the time to play as much these days but when a good one comes along I find a little. This one is a ton of fun! I gained a second plus last night and find myself here which feels really fast but when I visit the planet I'm reminded how fast you aliens actually are. Good God.

Anyhow, this will be the only TT I participate in for a few weeks. The rest are hot garbage. PD gets some things so right and others so very very wrong.

Cheers all. Stay rapid!

No excuses! Work harder!
(You are our only hope 🙄)

Not really my cup of tea and I was never really that quick in this type of car, but since nobody wants to do this combo, I decided to try :D

And it's quite fun, once you get the hang of the traction in the first chicane of course. Still need to improve the lesmos massively, I think I have 2 or 3 tenths left in me but not much more :)

(and don't mind the mileage, I'm grinding the AFK out of Daytona, because of car collection on my new account)

That's exactly the problem sometimes, a shift costs time that you gain back over time. You may not gain the time back before the end of the straight.

There's also the point that this method ignores shift duration (and turbo), which can really make a difference. If there's any sort of shift cost, you always want to shift some time later. How much? I haven't figured that out yet. It's also not really worth spending excessive time on gaining microseconds.
I did put the assumptions into the picture but I'm not sure anyone really reads those. The 'tl;dr' is that my graphs give a 'not before x RPM' shift point. I'm looking for ideas on how to show it as such in the graphs, these aren't fool-proof.

I have a testing method where I can compare two runs with different shift points, but the TT Porsche surprised me by having a particularly small gain by trying to shift optimally. I'm not entirely sure why.
