I realized a few things about CGV. I kept throwing myself at the sausage curbs in vain and just couldn’t find any consistency there. After much cursing I hit the books 📚😂

Studying the replays - there’s very, very little room for error at the brake points prior to chicane entry. I tried to match these brake points exactly. Theres less trail braking and more brake -> lift off, rotate -> tires bite -> hit the sausage

Also prior to the entry of the second chicane, there’s track to the left there under the bridge that I wasn’t using, and keeping left there improved my entry massively. I have a slight tendency to drift towards the apex too early and this track massively punishes such behavior 😂 so it’s good in a way that I’m practicing it!!

Eventually found a rhythm and got into the low 1:24s. Will go again tonight but it’s a toss-up as to whether I can improve on this.

Thanks for this. The precision required to match the speeds of the aliens is totally insane here.

I also noticed that trail breaking means death by understeer here but I just can't make it work anyways.

Will probably settle for silver here.

I don't know where I pulled this from. My aim was to simply get into the 24.9s because I didn't think I was capable of anything more. I went round Lesmo 1 in 4th instead of 3rd and accidently shortshifted through Ascari... whether that helped me or hindered me I don't know, but I won't bother finding out!

There's more in the kitty here. I just ran out of tme before I had to go to bed. I wasn't going to stay up late again because there simply isn't any point when you know you'll be playing Forza Horizon 6. So what if I don't get gold. It's not like I'm short on cash or anything.

Epic result there buddy!

I did set my time in the GTR and tried the NSX for some laps this morning but couldn't even get a 24 with it? 😂
Feels more steady than the GTR but I am soooo much slower in it? 🤣

Hey folks - first time in a long time that there's nothing meaningful to post. I've avoiding the Monza event (although I did OK with the car when we ran at GVS).

911 at the 'Ring - I'm enjoying the event, but am unsatisfied with progress as it seems to have stalled and I can't improve on my current best of 9:43.8. I probably spent 4 hours across the weekend trying to better this (oh the hardship... first world problems etc.) and on three occasions ran low 9:44s but couldn't for the life of me either a) get a complete lap, or; b) beat my time. I've seen mention of roll cages (fitted from the beginning), wide/narrow tires (probably, whatever came with the livery... may include offset change as well), and oven gloves (not tried, but open to anything ;)) - based on the things that I can change, it seems most straightforward to switch to a rental car before I go again, just to rule out anything that is impacting me.

Of course, it may also be because I'm not very good on this event, comparatively speaking - a theory that the CVG event may be proving since I can't get out of silver right now... will keep plugging away, but open to suggestions

Well now that I’ve got that out the way.. I did say I’d try until I got into the 1:23s but I might not even bother. Sausage roulette is not my favourite past time and the NSX’s penchant for stepping out under power without much warning makes this tricky lil’ bastard not much fun whatsoever

I need to improve my time at Nurburgring and ran what was actually a fairly fast and smooth lap and...it was a second and a half slower? WHAT?? I literally have no words, nor any clue as to what to do next. I had a concert last night and went to bed way late, and can't be getting up late tomorrow as I have a ride and drive at work I need to be in at a decent time in the morning for, so I guess that'll be my way to ruin tomorrow night. I legitimately do not know, but this is majorly concerning.

Sucks bro. I finally gave up. I just couldn't find the time to keep going considering the very few valid laps.
Did you try the roll cage vs rental car? It does change the car altogether, could be of some help to get the time you need.

Quick science experiment before bed.. same car, same roll cage, standard wheels… first flying lap, 1 second quicker. Could tell before I got to the timing beam to start the lap it was better. More lap time to come, just a little frustrating I’m on the clock now before the deadline.

As I said in my post, and judging by the feedback, install a roll bar and keep the original wheels — the car becomes more stable pretty much everywhere!

I've not yet...but I installed it last night with the intention of going back at it...but then I decided to value sleep instead (don't worry, I didn't actually get to bed until almost midnight again, because I'm stupid).

So that'll be what I run tonight. Abnormal for TT's, but I've been running this one with ASM on simply due to the fact that a few corners can throw this car way off and destroy your lap. Usually that slows you down quite a lot, but the lap after my best-lap-of-the-night-but-still-slower-than-my-actual-best, I went off and invalidated, so I figured I'd try ASM off there and see if I magically saw time gaining back everywhere, like I'd expect to...and I did not, which really surpised me since I should.

A few attempts at the Ring and that's it
I keep having problems with the ghost, i set it +0,2 in front of me but it starts 2 tenths behind me or at the same time with me, so annoying.
So i don't waste hours on it anymore is frustrating, if it keeps going like this i give up the competitive times and do just a lap for gold
Sorry for the rant

I have exactly the same issue, are you on PS4?

The ghost starts correctly at the beginning, but around three quarters of the lap it suddenly reappears 0.2 seconds behind me. It’s really frustrating.

For your issue, in general, if you quit the time trial instead of pressing “restart”, the ghost works properly again. Most of the time, after this bug happens, the next lap resets correctly and everything works fine as long as you don’t use “restart”.

I am on PS4 and have this issue as well, though I can't say it's been mid-lap. What it normally is, is a situation where I've completed one lap (and it usually only happens at very long tracks - it's basically certain at Nurburgring and LeMans, but occasionally at other long tracks), and then restart the time trial due to an invalid lap right at the start or something and then...yep...every sector it starts from behind me, and eventually gets in my way. Only way to fix is to exit said TT and re-enter.

It is an infuriating bug that has been around forever and still isn't fixed.

I am also on PS4, and have the same problem.. Not always, not all tracks but very infuriating..
Guess I should buy a PS5 as it seems it only affects is PS4 peasants...

Managed to achieve the sub 24 goal.

This is my first proper time with GR.2 cars, and I have to say that they feel a bit weird. Heavy and light at the same time? I have no idea how these cars handle in real life, but something tells me they are nowhere near how the game presents them.

It actually surprised me how fast I managed to figure things out here.

Anyway.. as a few have mentioned (especially Mr. Sausage 🤣) these curbs are a pain in the ass and there's very much a luck factor in play here.

Tried something different here: here are some images of my close call with the wall.

Honestly, they really need to stop doing Time Trials at Nurburgring...it so quickly becomes not the least bit fun...what even is the point.

I just spent the last two hours at this hellhole and it took a second session of "whatever, let me continue" before I was finally able to beat my terrible-for-my-usual-placings best time by about half a second, and then followed that lap up with an additional ~3/4 second, down to a 9:46.740. The car seemed entirely faster than before I had quit out of the first TT session completely and came back in.

I was up about 1.2 seconds on the uphill climb, but of course that was when the dog decided to she needed my wife to take her out despite having gone out before they went off to bed and totally threw my flow off, and what could have been a second (or perhaps more) was relegated to less.

But honestly, I'm still very upset as it is by far my most pathetic showing in a long, long, time and will absolutely tank my "latest" average, so that's great. This is fun, how, exactly? It's disappointing, and that's about it.

I'm not sure the roll cage did much of anything - with ASM off, this car was still borderline uncontrollable in spots, and it just slides all over and loses time.

Should have done a me Dan, and not even attempt this TT, the track is actually god forsaken, it's literally sent straight from the depths of hell, its sole purpose is to torture unsuspecting victims.

After 2 weeks away I really struggled at both Canada and Monza, biggest issue is a ridiculous amount of wheel shake on the straights with the DD Pro, like literally tearing the wheel out of my hands. Has there been a physics update?

I have potential to get close to gold at Monza but the aliens are making it hard. CGV on the other hand, just a terrible, terrible, terrible track, really struggling with memorising the corners as they all look the same on approach, i cannot find brake markers, the kerbs are a lottery, so, so bad, it is just a terrible place to race a car, zero love for it.
