Absolute waste of a night: 86 was absolute trash tonight. Actually seemed slower.

Two hours, down the drain and nothing to show for it. Lovely.

I truly do not know how sometimes it goes off a corner just fine and other times it doesn't seemingly have a clue I have my foot through the bottom of my pedals.

Another day, another session at Le Mans.
It began just like the days before. Lots of red times, restarts, swearing ...
Then i turned the display with the sector times off and 4 laps later this happend ...

Usualy i'd happily file this as success and wait for the next one, but that optimal

so i think i need a 3:25 :D

Since the recent PD's changes (which must be causing a lot of headaches for @half_sourly Half and @crome ), I feel like the DG is broken.

I haven’t performed very well in the last few challenges, yet my score hasn’t dropped šŸ¤”
We're back on track thanks to crome's magic, so DG should be good too. It would be better if they showed the impact on your score a past event had, rather than just the impact a current event will have.

Took a slightly new approach by minimizing restarts so when I go over track limits, even if it's in the first sector I just keep going and practicing the rest of the track for that lap. It resulted in six invalid laps... However, the splits were looking good, and the consistency too. First two laps were both slightly faster than my existing best lap, and only .001 apart, then I had a slow one, then got a 26.499! Admittedly the track limits were quite egregious on that one but not so much that it seemed out of the question... Now if I could just get a lap by actually following the track? That would be nice.

Was the .499 a message from the universe that perhaps I should change car? No! Never! My allegiance to my French wingless Batmobile with a band aid suspiciously shaped like a wing is UNWAVERING! (unless they add the Toyota TR010 which is rapidly winning my heart) After those fruitless laps I felt more like winding down for the night than pushing more, but after sitting idly looking at the screen for a minute I decided screw it, let's do one more. I've been here before and last time that one more lap ended up being "the one." And who knows? I posted yesterday that maybe Lando Norris is right about the relative time, and it turns out he absolute is!

7 tenths faster than my old lap! I just got a clean run essentially, if I really wanted to I'm sure I can get a couple more tenths but for now I'm happy. I actually didn't get a good line through the left hand bend after the Porsche curves, I hit the apex with the left wheels and just managed to hang on, and then I braked a little earlier than normal by the pit entry knowing my last two best laps fell apart here.

In the wise words of myself after crossing the line: "Yes. Yes. **** yeah. Yes. Haha. Woo." I don't know, it sounded much more noble and convincing at the time.

Almost Top 50 at Deep Forest i enjoyed it, the last sector is pretty technical and with this tires not so easy.
I didn't think that a 1.50 was possibile for me so i'm satisfied.

The main part I'm struggling with there is the first hairpin. I can never seem to get the car going nearly as fast as the ghost can...like at all. Maybe once, but not repeatably.

Yeah, I don't know, something is wrong with this 86 - it's wholly different lap to lap. I'll randomly lose time in braking sections...I really don't get it.

I did manage to improve...barely...and then wasted another 30 minutes past that trying to get lower (optimum was a .080), but the car absolutely would not allow that. Slower than before, suddenly? Check. No Brakes? Check. Random understeer in spots instead of oversteer (but still with plenty of oversteer...especially uncontrollable, randomly)? Check.

Imagine how much better this could've been if the proper tires were chosen.

I'm at a 1:51.265 and honestly, I don't see room for improvement - the car simply cannot handle it. At least whatever ****** version of it I've rented. Was gonna share the replay and see if anyone spotted anything, but it doesn't matter, as it wouldn't be correctable anyway.

I have to leave this one be and get to LeMans the next two nights.

I have the same problem with the GT86, not helped by sub-par throttle control. I think I’ve peaked here though - not sure what aids folks are using or if this is just me, but this is ABS on weak and everything else in off. About as far as my talent will take me… 😜

I was going back and forth between weak and default tonight, found default to be that little bit better for me - but occasionally neither would stop the car at all, or stop the car but randomly lose tenths in doing so out of nowhere. Was hoping to go faster but...alas...the car was not.

Tried to improve in Deep Forest, but no luck.
After roughly 60miles not even my optimals were showing improvement over my current time.
Guess that'll be it. Hope it sticks for a top 1000 position. It's been a while!

Improved at LeMans in the 963, but still way of gold... Need to find around 1s to be safe I think...
We'll see next week!

My words of advice, if you are struggling with LeMans and you are using Porsche just because top times are using it, I suggest you switch to Toyota. Porsche might be the best car in the hands of a professional, but I had a really bad time with it, barely getting the gold. With Toyota, I easily cleared it by over a second and there was still room for easy improvement looking at the optimal time by sectors. Idk why that is, maybe the Porsche is bad on a gamepad, or I'm just really bad at driving it, but whatever the case, just give Toyota a try, it might help you.

I found another three and a half tenths since the last time I posted. Something is really wrong when it comes to this game. I have a feeling that the force feedback is broken/bugged or a car physics are. Highly doubt it is my wheel, it’s 18nm direct drive and it doesn’t overheat no matter how long you drive. I don’t change anything on the wheel once I set it for the same car in time trial but I can feel the difference in car handling and responsiveness in different sessions, it’s definitely not the same. I firmly believe it’s from the game side and not mine, but what do I know.🤔

When doing the 86 TT yesterday, my first session was considerably slower than my second session, which was just me exiting the TT entirely, and re-entering it. Could not get even my optimum better than my best time. New session...car was totally different. But also it would seemingly be totally different within the session for several laps, before suddenly being fine again.

I also noticed that when I was doing my, thus-far only, session at Le Mans, my force feedback was starting to get quite wonky towards the end. I noticed that at Laguna Seca, too. It was really bad one session a few months back in the Alfa at LM - it vanished almost entirely.

And what are the proper tires in your view? I think it feels perfectly fine on CM, it’s a pretty slow car to be honest. Still lets you throw it around a little bit but absolutely enough grip to handle this kind of speed. Still sad they remodeled Deep Forest the way they did, the hairpin really sucks compared to the old Deep Forest. I do like the rest of it and the combo overall gets my thumbs up. :) Content with a .888 and 0,59% off TĆ”pai.

A Comfort Soft or Sports Hard would probably have been a better choice. I think Sports Medium or above would be unnecessary, but it just needs a touch more grip. Fighting inconsistency is not my idea of a good time.

Some laps it is fine, others it almost seems like the tires overheat on one part of the lap (which, of course, you can't see) and are useless the remainder of it.

More laps at LeMans, a lot of them red. Uhg. But I did find a half second on the back half. Best I have been able to reach on S1 was a .32x. So missing a few tenths there. And still not getting the right speeds on the last two sectors. I think I just might be able to crack into the 24's
Find out same bat time, same bat channel.

I too tried my hand at Le Mans, and at least got some improvement. Due to the track limits being a guess in half the places (specifically the Mulsanne chicanes...those really need to be marked better...or just be the white line...since the straight after the 2nd one sure is (and an extremely faded one at that). Had a smokin' lap invalidated by the curb just running out on me at Corvette curve, which was really irritated, and my optimum was down in the 3:24s (a .991), but still I improved a solid ~8 tenths to a 3:26.062. A 3:25 was simply not allowed.

Still clearly more time I can hopefully find tomorrow (versus doing the new TT - once it hits midnight, I'll need to switch to the weekly challenges so I can complete all of them, so I need not worry about that when I get back from vacation next Thursday, just in case we get delayed or something)...assuming the car or the track will let me. I don't get how some laps it understeers like a dog, and others you invalidate the Dunlop chicane because it actually turns in.

I had a go in the Toyota yesterday. It drives quite smooth over the curbs, especialy in the Ford chicanes.

But it understeers quite a lot. The faster you go, the more understeer. Which is a big problem in LeMans.

I'm sure there's a line/driving style that could handle this, but it would take me too much time in this TT to figure it out.
So back to the Porsche.

Actually got to see this car in person at the Fuji Speedway Hotel when I was in Japan a few months ago.

Having finished reminiscing about the Japan trip, I hit the track in the 86 for 3 sessions. Never been super fast around Deep Forest, particularly in reverse. A lot of these corners feel a bit awkward in reverse, mainly the lead up to the hairpin, most of S2 and the second last corner.

Might've been another tenth in the optimum, but I never saw a sub 51 optimum so I called it here, no use in trying to find a single tenth. Ultimately, didn't quite break the top 100, but close enough so I'll take it.

Maybe comfort softs would've been a little less awkward in some sections, but the comfort mediums were not as bad as I was expecting.

Why am I not really surprised about your car choice... šŸ¤”šŸ¤£

That car drives pretty well iirc. Not sure how you aliens might feel about it (maybe too boring a combo) but personally I am looking forward to it. I expect it to be both fun and also doable.

Personally it's just no fun if gold is only possible if you hit perfect turn in points and apexes at the perfect speed (looking at you Le Mans) without any margin for error. Either you invalidate the lap or lose an insane amount of time compared to the perfect line.

Hard work for sure, but so rewarding. A 31.xxx is doable for me but my hands are hurting now, this is the first time I've really put much effort into a time trial at RBR as its not my best / fave, so to be less than a second off Calster is a sweet feeling!

You really have to be careful on the exit kerbs here as they are DEADLY in terms of squiggly-ness and wheelspin
