I am VERY close to switch my PS4 Pro to a PS5 Pro, and also invest in a PS VR2. My question is, since I only play with controller and don’t own a wheel (and wont be able to have a wheel for practical reasons), I wonder if playing GT7 in VR with a pad is still ”worth” it or if it is weird driving with a pad in VR?

I use a pad with VR. No issue at all.

For a wheel VR is nice also because you don't need to be in front of your best 4K screen (which is sat in my living-room), you can hide with your dumb look, your hideous rig and gear in the basement, and spare your family from this atrocious sight in the middle of the living room 🤣

It really. I use ABS weak. Boost weak for custom races and GT SOPHY. When in a train of cars and braking, it “feels” so natural and the perception of that feeling is very real. The sounds, whether through the ear buds or head phones, make it all the better.

Too bad I don’t have a basement to hide in, I guess I have to take my chances and hope my wife won’t be my ex-wife after seeing me in my stupid head-gear, because I just ordered a PS5 Pro, disc-drive AND a VR2! The recent price drop together with a bunch of gift cards made the cost pretty ok in the end (however expensive).

Looking forward to inspect all of the cars in detail, be able to look around in cockpit-view and also hopefully not feel to much nausea.

Order a globular cluster right now to go with it. They aren't super expensive but they are absolutely worth every single penny spent. Ups the comfort level immensely!

She’s here!

Only given it 30 mins of play time but it’s super cool!

I can see what everyone is saying about the image quality now. Getting the sweet spot is super difficult and I got my greasy hair all over the lenses practically straight away. So I might wear a swimming cap or balaclava to prevent this.

It does kinda look like you’re looking through a visor, which isn’t a massive deal as it’s a driving game. I wouldn’t describe it as 720p it’s much better than that, but yeah it’s not as good as my 4k tv. I quite like the VR replays but you do have to try and not move your head or you just get ghosting. The VR showroom is epic! However it would be better if the interior view had me sitting in the car.

I did have a go without the wheel but this did make me a bit queasy - it’s much better sitting in a racing seat for sure.

My son is home from school now and I’m hiding it from him till I’ve at least got a week out of it, so won’t play it again now till he goes to bed. Hopefully he’ll do something that requires punishment and he can go to bed early!

Globular Cluster.
Didn't someone mention Globular Cluster?
Think someone has mentioned Globular Cluster, for sweet spot targeting and comfort.

In for a penny... ;)

Don't throw the box away

There's a discount coupon in there for a divorce attorney

I never got sick, I did do 7 hours on the first day and way way way more booze than I’d recommend to watch TV!

I did have a headache but after that it was the only issue.

Believe the reality you see, know it’s safe but just believe the world you are in. Also take the headset off as much as possible. You’ll get more comfortable chucking it on 10 seconds before a race but work up to that.

Weirdly Tidgney says he can’t place a car as well, for him that is probably a thing but for me volume and corner position is like my real cars. You do you

Welcome aboard bud 👊👍

yeah I did watch Jordan’s video and got myself some ginger biscuits, ice cold water and gum which definitely helped.

I couldn’t use the Mazda as the hand coming off the whee completely through me. In the end I got in the Suzuki VGT (which apparently I’ve driven 9km in). This was much better just doing 5 laps around Tsukuba nice and slow. Then feeling brave I jumped into a quick Sophy race and it was epic!

I realised the headset wasn’t vibrating though, so I turned that on and then went into another race with Sophy exactly the same.

That’s when it happened… car suddenly veered off to the left then the game paused. Controller disconnected. Weird I thought, must’ve snagged a cable. G29 unplugged, plugged back in - worked as a controller but the wheel didn’t spin to calibrate. Tried a different USB port, tried a different power socket - nothing. Looking online it could be that the power brick has failed, but to say that I am annoyed is an understatement. This VR thing has been against me from the start!

Great improvement on comfort (and the PSVR2, as the PSVR1 is already more comfortable than other well known headsets in its factory form), and it is much easier to find and keep the sweetspot.

I'd like to emphasize the point about the sweet spot. I never had any comfort issues with the headset, even for 2+ hour sessions, so I slept on the Globular Cluster mod for over a year. I finally bought one after an intense Pistol Whip session sent the entire headset flying off my head.

The difference it makes in a high movement game is profound, but I even recommend it if you primarily just play something pretty stationary like GT7 as it maintains the graphical fidelity so much better by just preventing the sweet spot from drifting away every so slightly. Really does make a difference.

I used a micro fibre cloth on my first headset. Passed that one to my daughter after I bought the new one(about seven months ago). For the new one, I haven’t had to clean the lenses. Haven’t had to clean the rubbers either. As soon as I’m done, I wrap the foam cover packaging over the headset and store it in back the box. Even when I take a short break I wrap it. Tedious, but it’s been working for me.

What do people use to clean the lenses? My are already a little smudged which I think is adding to the visor effect I can see
I use Galaxy Glass towels. Available from several places online. I got the 18 pack 10 years ago and I still have half the package left. I use them mainly for prescription glasses and have never had a problem.

I got a fresh one out for my VR2, which hangs on the wheel stand. I drape the towel over the opening to keep dust out and gently wipe the lenses when needed.

Everything but Wisteria stripes appears to be out of stock.

Bunch of others at Amazon too, search there for optic scarf.
