My first post on here, though I’ve been enjoying reading threads on GT Planet for years.
During replays, I’ve noticed on cars with metallic silvery paint jobs that I get an odd, semi-pixelated effect when the camera pans to follow the car. I can also reproduce the issue if I move the camera’s viewpoint horizontally or vertically in race photo mode.
I uploaded a short video of the effect to YouTube as it can’t be captured in still images. Admittedly, it’s not as easy to see when I view the footage on my phone’s small screen, but it is very apparent on my TV and really detracts from my enjoyment of replays.
Interestingly, the anomaly doesn’t seem visible on cars with darker paint jobs, and it’s definitely not there at all if I switch the game to Performance mode. It’s almost as though the ray tracing system is struggling with calculating reflections for a light-coloured surface that’s not quite gloss and not quite matte. Please comment if you’ve seen this when you’re playing, as I’m curious to know if my experience is unique.
