GT7 Sophy and A.I. custom Races.

Hello everyone,
I’ve been having a ton of fun setting up and figuring out and power balancing a vintage SCCA style endurance races vs Sophy and it’s been a blast! I also do them on the non-Sophy tracks. Fun, but the Sophy drives are leaps and bounds over the other. Much smoother. No stabbing brake checks or just randomly running into or nudging you. I set them up for 10 minutes or more. I have also been doing Spec races doing a SPEC E30 (89 M3 212hp). I had to purchase twenty 89 M3’s. Some of the liveries I did myself and for friends and others I collected from some of the very talented GT community in GT Auto. The one thing that I’ve found with both Sophy and standard AI is how much I have to pull out of the car to make it more of a challenge. The vintage cars I’ll pull out almost 80 to 100hp I still make it to the front surprisingly quick. The Spec races are better, but I still to a lot of power out of it to make it really challenging. I do love it. I love that you can do competitive racing and not have to deal with people intentionally running into or running you off and then rage quitting. It’s really drawn me away from Sport. I know these programs are super sophisticated and hard make, but I think the Sony AI team are on to something awesome and I’m really excited to see it expand and improve. I would love to see BoP added to your garage cars and a high rate in professional. It drops quite a bit when you choose you own cars to build a race. And maybe a SPEC style choice so you could setup races like SPEC E30, SPEC MIATA, MX5, Porsche cup races etc. so they’re really competitive. I know it would probably be thought to do, but a way to change a livery that you’ve made or collected while in your car list menu would be amazing. So you can you have all different looking cars without having to buy 20 of the same cars. Just an idea. I hope you enjoy the videos I’m posting. I also try to run SPEC E30 lobbies. We’ve done it with a bunch of friends and it is bumper to bumper racing fun. Feel free to get in touch if you’re interested in race.

Come hang out in the Custom Race thread! We try to share best practices and grid setups for helping maximize the enjoyment :)

FWIW, it seems like there are a few tips in there that would help you get a much more consistently challenging experience, against either Sophy or the Regular AI. No need to read the thousands of comments - we’ve been pretty active since the Sophy 2.1 update with plenty of newcomers.

Love the videos! :D

Sounds like you have boost set to off, is that right? If so, try boost weak and you'll no longer need to reduce the power of your own car.

The boost works something like this:
1. Boost off: AI slows down while you are behind.
2. Boost weak: AI speeds up while you are ahead.
3. Boost strong: AI slows down while you're behind and speeds up while you're ahead.

So if you don't want the AI to drive slower to let you win, use the weak boost. It works the same on both Sophy and non-Sophy AI.

Thank you for the tips. I’ll try it tomorrow 👍🏼
