If you don't have any access to engine swaps yet, do not fret.


The race can be done on a lightly tuned car. But good strategy and technique are what makes or breaks your race.

For the car itself, get a car with a quick shifting gearbox, equally spaced ratios, and plenty of torque. Hence why I was easily able to do it with a stock SLS AMG. Your driving technique matters. The SLS may be heavy, but learn to manage its weight and it actually handles better than a traditional FR.

And yes, Sports Hards can suffice.

I am thinking of another challenge regarding the Tokyo 600 pp race.

This time, it involves a certain car of choice from the UCD.

But this time, I will share the setup, and everyone must follow it. The fastest lap time and total time wins.

What are your thoughts?

Race 1 - Renault Twingo
Mildly upgraded to just 72HP, I had just enough time and cornering pace to catch the lead Prius coming out of turn 4 for the win.

Race 2 - Mazda Atenza XD L Package
I quite like this car. I kept the peppy turbo-diesel in, and upgraded it to 371HP for 550PP. I got the win by 5 seconds over the two GC Imprezas.

Race 3 - Lamborghini Urus
Deciding to take my insane 1,700HP Urus to Watkins Glen on the default SH tires was certainly an experience. That said, it actually wasn't too difficult to handle. Stomped the opposition by a comfortable 13 seconds.

Race 4 - YangWang U9
Not much to say. It was quiet. I heard the birds. Anyway, I won. Woo.

Race 5 - Silvia K's
The infamous Tokyo WTC600 race is the star attraction for this week. I took a non-swapped 400HP S14 to the fight, sporting customization from the gold S14 that appears in the Silvia Sisters races. Thankfully, I had the thing dialed in just right to win by 10 seconds over Kokubun's vicious FD3S.

Race 6 - Mini Cooper 'S'
For the first Power Pack Challenge I chose to run the Historical Rally event at Sardegna Windmills with a nimble 127HP Cooper. This was so much fun!! The Stratos pictured slowly reeled me in, but I squeezed out a 4 second victory margin.

Race 7 - Mini Cooper S
The newer Cooper takes the spotlight in the FF Tuning Battle race at Willow Springs. The black Elantra N was quick, but my supercharger came in clutch, allowing me to widen the gap on the straightaways. I walked away with a win by 3.5 seconds.

Race 8 - Roadster Rampage
Easily the hardest race here; The Bump Drafting race at Watkins Glen Short. Wrestling an 800HP Camaro with minimal aero and trying to keep Bonelli at bay was tough, until we caught up to lapped traffic. It was over from there, and I cruised it home to a win by just 2 seconds and only 0.6 laps of fuel remaining.

Cars this week (all hard difficulty)...

Northern Isle Speedway - Toyota Prius G '09 - Stock car... aside from the wing. Easy win.

Kyoto - Subaru WRX Gr.B Road Car - Upgraded the tires to SM. That put the PP just under the recommend level. It was another easy win.

Watkins Glen - Subaru WRX STI Isle of Man '16 - Upgraded the tires to RS. That put the PP just over the limit, so I added power restrictor to get it back in range. This car is a monster. Complete overkill for this race. Another easy win despite a few excursions off the track.

Grand Valley - Yangwang U9 '24 - I'd upgraded the tires to RM for earlier weekly challenges. I left them on for this one. Glad I did, if only to be able to brake for corners. It made of another easy win. Ho hum.

Tokyo Expressway - Porsche 959 '87 - Upgraded the tires to SM and added the sports computer. That put me just under the PP limit. This is a decent car for this race, but there was no way I was going to get a win with it. Still, I managed a P2 in the end, pitting on lap 7 for fresh tires and fuel. Good enough to check the box.

The car ticket gave me a Dallara SF19 Super Formula / Toyota '19. Happily, I didn't own it yet.

I also found the SLS AMG to be really good here for a non-PP exploit build. I did add a few bits though:

• Two stages of weight reduction, but added 200 kilos of ballast to the front.
• Full-control ECU with 93% power.
• Manual transmission.
• Front splitter and rear diffuser, but no custom rear wing. The active rear wing is good enough at keeping the car stable.
• Height-adjustable sports suspension, NOT the fully customizable one.
• Fully-customizable LSD.

I managed to gap Kokobun by about 30 seconds. I actually set the fastest lap of the race for a change with a 2:08.8 (on a pad). It was fun. Usually it’s either Gallo’s NSX or Suswillo’s GT-R that gets it, so I was pleasantly surprised.

That took some time but I think I got my press package together now. So let's begin ...

I started this week's set of 5 with the Yangwang Special Event. Reason is, well, you'll see soon.
The race was quite ok actually - I should use the car ( which is still almost stock ) more often to really get used to it and finally be able to move these 2 tons smoothly.
Anyway, after being stuck behind T. Goh for a whole lap, I took the lead on lap 4 and brought it home safely.

Event 4 : Yangwang U9 '24 / 691.05 PP / CRB ✅

With the Special Event done and dusted, the fun part began as from then on I used one and the same car with one and the same setup for the other races. And although the car still is a bitch at times and disaster comes out of nowhere now and then, I could achieve 4 clean wins quite easily.

Alright alright ... here's the final part then ... and thank you for being that patient everyone : I didn't want to come back here without any input to the Tokyo stock challenge. Who else but @jad_morffier would come up with such an idea. As I was too lazy to test a lot, I used the 911 '09 that is already seen in action above. I needed one race to get a feel for the car, the next attempt brought the win, including bonus of course.

I decided to also show my experience with the Power Pack challenges this week since there was an engine swap on the cards. I haven’t gotten through the entire DLC yet so I haven’t even received all of the exclusive cars either.

Race 1 - Vette! @ Grand Valley
My choice was the one that started the lineage: the C1. This one has had its old heart swapped out for an LT5, though it had to be tweaked a bit to meet the regulations. With some tuning, it is actually fairly reasonable with some patience on the throttle. Fully upgraded, it is a different story, but detuned to 514 horses on sports tires, it’s manageable. For PS3-era nostalgia purposes, I slapped on an Art Morrison livery. I thought it looked nice.

Race 2 - Bump Drafting @ Daytona Oval
A pretty uneventful race if you qualify on pole. I used the 2018 Ford GT Race Car with a low-downforce setup to get to a higher top speed, though I did raise the rear downforce a tiny bit to get it just under 720PP. It’s safe to say that I smashed the field. It was a joke.

Race 3 - Bump Drafting @ The Glen Short
This was another walkover, though qualifying on pole again doesn’t help. My choice was the Toyota Supra GT Road Car…that has been turned into a race car (credit to Fossil Fueled for the Castrol Tom’s livery). Easy victory once again.

After completing all of that, I acquired the six-star engine ticket and got the LS7 drift engine from it. It does nothing for me, personally.

I also acquired the Ford Mustang 2015 American Racer, which is infinitely better than the drift engine. In stock form, it gives off Trans Am vibes (the racing series, not the Pontiac). You can turn it into a NASCAR-like machine by changing some things around, particularly the rear wing. I like it.

Contact with the AI loses it, you can hit walls all day long but a tiny brush with another car and it's gone. I think you also lose it if you hit the cones at the hairpin.

I'm not sure - things regarding AI contact seem more complex.

@Fuzzi0n is correct about the cones.

As for contact sometimes I think the game decides who's at fault so to say ... and the intensity of the impact is a factor too.
If you run into a car from behind ... you lose the bonus ! If you slightly grace another car ... you lose it maybe !
And of course things get really difficult in complex situations when several cars are involved for example.
But in my Porsche race, Kokubun slammed into me being unaware that I was beside him ( see my photo ) and I still got the bonus.

Your best bet is ... keep far away from them !!!

If anyone would like, I have a setup I did for this car that has made it easier to drive (Still some managing with the brakes to do but otherwise a big difference compared to stock).

There are many factors in that race that we barely see.

One of which is ridiculously illegal AI cars. At least the top three is probably closer to 650PP, and undoubtedly not below 600PP.

Suswillo's GT-R: ~588PP and sports hards stock, aero and sports mediums added. Very low ride height so suspension and probably power too.
Gallo's NSX: ~578PP and sports hards stock, aero, racing brakes and sports softs added. Very low ride height so suspension and probably power too.
Kokubun's RX-7: ~571PP and sports hards stock, sports softs added. No idea what has been done to the engine but I've made a 600PP tune on sports softs myself and it went nowhere after 250 km/h or so with all that drag and what little power could be had to get below the limit, this one does ~300 km/h.

Just a quick one :
what the reasons you can loose CRB at Tokyo these period ?

1. If you make contact with another car CRB is null and void.

2. Slightly trading paint (light touches) you can usually get away with.

3. AI making contact with you doesn't void CRB. They can ram you from behind and it won't matter. However, some side contact might void CRB depending on how close to the front of the car you get hit. I think you have to have your nose a certain distance in front of the other car's nose to keep the CRB.

4. Watch the white lines. Especially the ones at the final hairpin. Cross more that 2 tires over that line and your done.

5. You can get rammed on the last hairpin. The contact won't void CRB (as above) however if it pushes you over the white lines you're done.

6. Scraping, ramming or riding walls is fine as long as you don't go over those lines with more than 2 tires.

And for this one, the selection for the duration of the week is this:

A beloved, yet underrated Nissan sports car quickly overshadowed by its Skyline GT-R brethren. The Fairlady Z Z32 was, for all intents and purposes, made to rival the Toyota Supra as a GT sports car. Can it be a proper tuned sports car that can rival serious super sports cars competing in that 12-lap race?

THE SETUP:


Wheel choices are at your discretion, but follow the size and offset as shown below:

Now, bumper choices are up to the player.

Except for rear bumper, which will strictly be Type A:

Custom Rear Wing must be installed. Once again, the height is up to you:

Roll cages must be installed. Choose whichever type you want.

Now, for the tuning parts and setup. NO ENGINE SWAPS.

No alterations to the setup are allowed. This is strictly enforced as well.

Race rules:

• Must be done on HARD difficulty.
• Fastest LAP TIME wins. Total time is irrelevant.
• Bonus points for CRB.

Sample result:

PB was 2:09.7.

Used the Diablo 00 on the Tokyo circuit challenge, the PP point is just above 600. I bought the engine restrictor and brought it down under 600 with 99% power, was actually pretty easy after that! 😉

With all of the prerequisite upgrades and settings applied, it was time to take on this @RCKakashi14 challenge.

The 300ZX was a bit of a pig to drive, I’ll be honest. It does not like exiting slow corners without spinning its wheels. Sometimes, it will break traction exiting some medium-speed corners as well. I personally found it a tad difficult to drive.

That didn’t mean that I wasn’t quick with it, because I was. I was starting to set 2:10s and then started to get into the 2:09s. Initially, I did have a good tow on the straight from Gallo’s NSX, but the following lap, which wound up being the fastest lap of the whole race at a 2:09.561, I only had a small tow from the same NSX. I must have put in a few other PB sector times.

After pitting on lap 7 for fuel, the tire wear really began to affect my confidence in the car. It started to really become skittish to drive. The power oversteer was much more pronounced, particularly in the closing laps. I was worried that I would make an ass of myself and spin out, allowing Kokobun’s RX-7 to steal the win. In the end, I kept the Z32 in check and take a 21.8-second victory.

Clean race bonus as well. I surprisingly never made contact with any of my rivals at any point, which was shocking.

Impressive run you did there.

Fun fact, I was deliberating on either the Z32 or the 22B Impreza. But in the end, the latter would have made the challenge rather too easy.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that you should have set the BB to +3, but I'll let it pass.

Confirm: getting into the cones at the hairpin/beginning of finishline straight will lose you CRB.
Kokobun is your real rival, Gallo pits twice
