Older article and before E3 of 2010, unsure of authenticity, but...I know that San Andreas and Los Santos are making a return but this is weird. Now with all the Palm trees in the trailer, I think there is something Rockstar isn't telling us...

Yes but not as many as in this trailer. Plus the sunsets look like SA but also like VC. It would be nice to have a sequel to Vice City. Especially since the predicted protagonist looks like Tommy. Although that one guy sure looks like CJ. Maybe they will join forces lol.

Was supposed to get Vice City today but my bud forgot. Getting it tomorrow. GTA III's Espresso mission is 🤬 hard. I had it once, like I was at the last thing at hit it three times within ten seconds but none were hard enough, and the clock ran out. I was pis*ed.

It looks like Los Angeles, and LA has millions of palm trees. You're hyping yourself up for something thats not going to happen. R Star have already stated that the game will take place in and around southern california.

Maybe GTA Vice City2 is going to be one of the episodes for GTA5. I do remember that list and it did surprise me a bit to see they were returning to LS, but....that doesn't mean that GTA VC2 isn't in production. Heck, we know that the other RS games on the list: Bully 2, Max Payne 3, LA Noire, and NHL2K11 and NBA2K11 were all announced. So, there's no reason to assume that Vice City 2 isn't on the way somewhere. There is speculation that GTA is why Rockstar pulled out of E3 last year...and maybe they pulled out to swap maps. If that's true, then that means they were working on both maps and already had the Vice City map ready to go with a trailer. So, I figure, if that's accurate...VC2 might be one the episodic games for GTAV. (There's always two....so, VC2 could just be the first episode.)

It'd be pretty nasty to see all past GTA maps recreated and combined into one map I think.

Slightly offtopic, but there was once a map of the old San Andreas, Vice City and Liberty City combined with smaller cities inbetween them, I think I saw it in GTAForums, but in any case, it looked hefty. Unrealistic as SA and VC couldn't be so close to each other with their completely different climates, but still hefty.

I would have loved to play that map as it featured the Upstate Liberty as well, which we never got access to, possibly because of the limitations of the last gen's consoles, especially with LCS being a PSP release originally and all that.

EDIT: Found it: http://archiv.gta4.cz/images_fakemapy/fakemapa_006b_gta4.vokr.com.jpg

That would be pretty kick-ass. And considering the size of games like Just Cause 2, completely doable if Rockstar Chose.

Vice City 2 being at E3 was confirmed to be fake. Same as that map as the person who "leaked" it had made previous claims which turned out to be false.

They'll always be fake evidence, so don't believe anything until R* say so. R* are pretty good at keeping a tight lid on things, so a leak is unlikely.

Damn. That is true though. That would be one cool map though, I have to admit.

Yes but not as many as in this trailer.
The entire city has been given an overhaul. It's been completely re-designed, so it's no stretch of the imagination to think that Rockstar might have added in some more trees.

I can't believe you guys think there is some huge twist in the story because there are more trees than before..

Again, this is true. One can only hope right?

GTA 3 was really a no frills game and the main reason it was popular was because it was the first of its kind on the PS2 platform. GTA4 is the same thing, bare bones. Vice city added more content, San Andreas added even more content (gyms, clothes, car customization, racing, airplanes etc). I am sure as the GTA4 engine evolves into GTA5 we will get the same improvements and additions.

GTA5 should be Los Santos (california)... its too bad they aren't bringing any of the GTA3 era characters as I would like for CJ and Tommy Verceti to be in it.

I have GTA 2 on my PS1 and I've played GTA 1 and London. The old top down games are really fun and the music is hilarious.

Personally I thought GTA 4 was a let down. It was good but not as good as I had hoped. I think they should have stopped making GTA at the end of 3's era. GTA 4 just doesn't feel like a GTA to me.

Yeah, but jc2's map is very sparsely detailed. Once you start adding on those layers of detail that you find in a R* game, the map must get smaller and smaller due to limitations.

Look at the map in Daggerfall. Massive. Thousands of towns and dungeons. Apparently, the whole thing is twice the size of Great Britain. The rest of the game suffered as a result.

Maybe the combined map could be for a GTA MMO..only, if I were Rockstar, I'd make the cities of GTA in massive scale and then just allow players to fly between them. And each city would be a different set of servers. Heck, each city could even have a different set of cars....although, all of the cities would have similar exotic retailers.

But...that's the only way I see having all five cities together: an GTA MMO...which would be sweet.

EDIT: Apparently, that's what Rockstar is pushing the series towards:

Sam Houser
A subscription-based Grand Theft Auto-type game.. is very, very doable and is a
very, very compelling proposition.. the combination of what we're doing
with multiplayer and what we're doing with the [downloadable X360] episodes is the start
of us putting our toes in this water and seeing how our audience.. adapts to online.

And adding a massive map and a character already well establishing in the in-game community are two more components of an MMO. (For GTA, having a character established in one of the cities and expanding to others makes more since for a GTA MMO).

So...GTA 6 or 7 will probably appear as an MMO. And who knows, GTA 5 could have more multiplayer support...maybe some co-op missions or something. It would be interesting to see what Rockstar would do with classes and leveling, though. Although, previous GTA games have done a more...passive leveling system where by the end of the game, certain groups shoot you on site and others just ignore you or help you out. Perhaps with a GTA MMO will see the ability to become a cop. Think something like APB, only a million times better. (A GTA MMO might be the first time players can play as a woman as the protagonist. So...more like a less crazy version of Saints Row.)

I have no objections to playing as a female protagonist, however I would wish upon them to include an option between genders like Saints Row that way everyone has an option.
