GTA: SA (sales)

This won't negativly affect sales. The whole 'black' thing is in at the moment. R* is really trying to cash in with this, but they did it in a way so that people who don't like that culture will still really get into the game, yet bringing in another audience.

When I first heard the character would be afro-american I thought it would suck (I didn't like all that rap gang-banging shizza wazza stuff) but really the whole game (including that part) has got me so excited and I've even been doing research on L.A. street gangs etc.

Yeah im the same, i warmed up more to this game when i heard the gangsta part was only something like 8%.

That's good. I'm not into the whole Black Rap culture, but this game has lured me in. I'm actually liking it now, except for the fact that I don't like Rap or Bling.

But I'm certainly not racist. I have many Black friends.

What does "the whole Black Rap culture" mean? Just curious to know exactly what you're stating.
 
Well it involvs Rap music, gangbanging, Weed/Crack dealing/smoking, pimping/ricing out Cars, wearing alot of "Bling", etc.

That's what I mean.
 
I don't hate it as much any more (except for the Bling and Ricing out Cars). I still don't like Rap, but my love for GTA has forced me to like it. I actually don't mind it now. I like movies like Friday, etc. But I'm still not completely into it.
 
Yeah thats like me, though im not real into it, but GTA has made me, i dunno "open up" to it lol.
Ill still be listenin to the rock stations more though.
 
Yeah, Radio:X is a definate Number 1 choice for me, even though I'm not into Alternative, it's the best thing from what I listen to. Classic Rock will be good, too. I'll listen to that just as much. In fact, that will probably be my Number 1 choice. K-Jah West and WCTR are my secondaries.
 
How is ricing out cars associated with the black gang culture?

I'll be listening to the chat station mostly (just like in VC, I have so many hours racked up with that station it's not funny, wait it is :lol:)

K-JAH WEST and Bounce will probably be the others I listen to, maybe Radio:X too.
 
I hope the Talk stations are still as funny as they were in previous games Chatterbox, Kchat and VCPR used to crack me up especially the latter he he he!.
 
Well that station sounds like it will be huge, it also sounds more interactive than the other stations. Plus it's got Lazlow and Maurice!

Not essentially, I said 'Pimping/Ricing", as they do both. Mainly Pimping. And I realise I said Ricing again, but I mistakenly said it instead of Pimping. And I'm not talking about the Pimping as in Lowriders, I'm talking about Gold everything, stupid accessories, etc that they do. Lowrider cars and Hydraulics are cool though.

Also, I don't know who wants it more: Me or Blake. I actually wrote the word San Andreas, instead of "Andy" in an English "reflection". I've also been spending all day between here, GTA fansites and EB. :lol:

Oh yeah, I'm also ripping half of my hair out here!

So essentially by Pimping you mean bling stuff? I can't wait for all the low riders and stuff though!
 
It's pretty bold of R* to make the lead character black. And interestingly, from what I know of the story, you may actually have some sympathy for the character. He's not a psychotic killer (unless you want him to be of course)!
I think it's quite significant.
I mean, how many other games have people played where the central character is black? I can think of "Shadowman", "Blade" (though it does'nt really count as it is based on a film), "Def Jam", err......someone help me?

Anyway, San Andreas is looking very good indeed. I can't wait... :)

I believe Michael Jackson was in a computer game (but I don't know if he's black.)

You raise a good point there, there are not many black charactors in video games, unless you play a Basketball game or an Athletics game, but who plays sports games.
It also does'nt bother me that he's black actually its kinda cool. I bet the verdict after this game has been played through properly will be that he's the coolest GTA character.

I don't care what you say, but Madden 2004/2005 is awesome! Two of the best games ever! My favorite player is black too: Michael Vick. :sly:

San Andreas will have to make CJ look like a god to get my mind off Tommy Vercetti! ;)
 
What was so good about Tommy Vercetti, he was italian, he said a few cheesy lines...what makes that character so good?
 
Exactly. I thought he got very repetitive after a while. I liked him in the storyline, but he got old. I'm looking forward to CJ.

I'm looking forward to it, too, but you know what I mean, don't you? The extreme gold and bling everywhere, leapord skin interior, stupid colours, etc. I'm looking forward to Lowridin' (the lowness of the vehicles), the classic car factor and Hydraulics mostly. That's what I like most about Lowriders.

Still, I think you raise a good point, slackbladder. You are right on the ball, and I feel some sympathy will be felt for him, as opposed to Vice City and GTA 3 where the lead characters were ruthless criminals. Also, the fact that CJ has a "family", and a family-orientated background is a bit of a change. A good change at that. It allows you to get to know the character alot better than the previous GTAs. I feel San Andreas will have the best storyline out of all GTA games by a long shot.
