Its not an issue of formulas--I haven't completed all the sheets yet it and I don't want to even mess with it til I do--- its in sorting them and having them in seperate sheets (sections)-- since each of them is ordered seperately you can't simply sum them since each time you resort the records after updates, (I have macros that resort the ranking and list everyone by scores) it can alter the order-- I will have to see if the cell links change when it resorts and if not I will make a macro to sort all members on each of the sheets alphabetically, then add the scores, then re-sort the final page and copy the sorted rankings to an output table, then have each of original sheets resort back in the proper order--- I know its doable (one way or another) I just have to finish up the sheet.

I'm pretty well versed in using excel-- I have not messed too much with doing multiple things on multiple sheets though-- so I have to see what it does when after I resort things and data locations are changed.

I doubt I will need help but I'll let you know.

Jimmy, I saw you put links to the pics of the tables--- is there a reason you didn't do image links to them so they are visible in the recordbook all the time--- if you don't want them in the body of the recordbook you could maybe put them in the post following it (its yours also)-- its up to you, I just thought people would want to see them (and not have to click to see them). The image files are pretty small so I doubt I will exceed my bandwidth allocation at freewebs.

Also, if anyone wants to make up headers for the various sections, please feel free to do so (and I will incorporate them)

I have but one suggestion: you could put a column on the left displaying the rankings of each person.
(Ex. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 1, 2, 3, or First, Second, Third, or King of San Andreas, Godfather, Four-Star General :D, ect.)

I might do that-- I kind of like the idea of assigning CR name rankings to the order but I would likely put that in a column on the right (if I do this)--anybody else have an opinion on this or putting in numerical rankings??-- there are 31 different members listed right now--- I left room to put in 60 but can always expand this if needed.
 
Personally I think numerical rankings would look neater and it would be easier to see how you stack up. It's slightly annoying to have to count how many people are ahead to find out what rank you are ;)

Just kidding, I'll post some dazzling, mind-boggling records as soon as I beat the game. (not long from now)

I've also been looking for potential Superjumping locations. No luck yet. :indiff:

Actually, I've got an idea. I'll place the Overall Standings in the Main Post, and then I'll place the other standings in their actual sections next to the headings. For example, I will place the Killing Standings in the Killing Records section, and so on.

The reason I'm not directly linking the images is to compensate for the people on 56K, as it would be annoying to have them loading. I know I would get a little irritated, so I'm sure other people would. I think it looks cleaner with them just normally linked. Thanks anyway.

  • Allocated all other Standings Spreadsheets to their respective sections.
  • Added extra 'Thank You' note to Spuds725 for the Standings.
 
I think hotlinking the pictures would not be an issue, you mayaswell do it. All for hotlinking say "yay!"
 
Personally, I think it's perfectly fine the way I've just done it, but some other opinions would be appreciated.
 
looks great.. all i've got to say is wow.. Small_Fryz has more than more than twice as many entries as i do.. looks like i'll need to enter some more records... also are we using vigilante mission as proof for "number of kills from last checkpoint"? if so, here's one for me..

Ok... FYI....the total file size for all the standings is: 311 KB--- if you think its too big for dialup, I'll defer your judgement--- individually they are small but I guess they do add up (see below).

People I've wasted - 10,850 - Spuds725

I've been holding back alot of stats simply because they just aren't very impressive and are easily beat-- I don't want to waste Jimmy's time updating when a record would be more then likely beaten pretty easily. I'm not saying Small hasn't got some good records--- his race stats are pretty good considering the # of races there are and how hard they are to master--- VC was easy in comparison because you there were so many less races to learn the routes of--- I probably haven't done any in over 6 months and can describe every turn and hazard on each course (including "the driver" and "alloy...")--- I'll move up eventually but I am still finding it hard to stay motivated in the destructive categories---

The file size is almost nothing, it is probably worth diog, especially since there aren't that many people on 56k (I'm on it but I'd prefer the pictures), it is your choice but I think the pictures would be nice 👍
 
I have dial-up, but I agree that it's worth the wait to have the pictures directly in the thread. That's my two cents.
 
Spuds -- Unless the records aren't worth having in the record book, don't worry about wasting my time. I don't mind updating the Record Book, and in some areas, it's nice to have it getting filled up, regardless of whether those records are great or not. So by all means, if you think it's worth filling up a section, or if you think it's a decent record, 5th place or 1st, go right ahead. I'll leave figuring the worth of the record up to you, as you have more than enough experience to work it out.

As for the screenshots, I didn't bother to look at the sizes, and even after seeing that they aren't too big, I think it's much neater having them URL linked, rather than image linked. I just done a test of it anyway, and the only place that was suitable for them to be placed was on the very bottom of each section, and I still thought it looked a bit too untidy.
 
I'll eventually get them in, I kind have been concentrating on the more popular sections of the book (crimes/killing/racing)-- I would likely compete in distance travelled section but just need to write them down and convert them.
 
I've just been throwing around some ideas with Spuds, and I've decided to use the very last post to insert the Overall Standings spreadsheet in image-link form. The rest, I will keep how I have them for now, but I'm still throwing around some other possibilities.

I've done this because it doesn't take much loading, it's just as neat, and easy to find. I've also posted a small key.

Half the credit to all of this goes to Spuds. :)

Well, Im back from holidays so i will be first attacking my racing times (btw Spuds i like to think my racing times are a bit better than pretty good :p :sly: ) , and in between i will be slowly but surely raising my CR. Id also like to point out i have many entries but lots of them are top 3 entries and a few 4ths but hardly any 5ths, So Most of my entries are quite competitive given the short time SA has been out. :p

Spuds thanks a lot for doin up a total Excel spreedsheet. Im suprised to be so far ahead as i thought integra gsr would be infront of me or really close.

This is just a matter of him not having posted up all his stats-- all the 2nds and 3rds do add up which should close the gap-- he has plenty of firsts....in the VC rankings, I survived on these (I was the king of 2nds)-- as the categories fill out, some of your misc stats will likely drop off and it will become much tighter--- your racing stats should keep you in good standing overall regardless.

Give us old timers time to close the gap--- As KM and I move up you younguns' will drop down. Part of the reason I'm finding it hard to stay motivated in the destructive categories is I have a limited amount of time to play (a 2 year old kid and another on the way in about 11 more weeks take a fair amount of time away from playing) and boosting your killing and CR stats are time consuming-- my goal in SA is to go at least over 100,000 kills eventually but I'm not going to try and chase anyone again--- me and Acidmans Killing competition was tough and it made VC seem like work.

I've started to go through some of the races and work on them. There are so many that I've found it hard to keep on the races I don't like to do (vinewood for one and some of the longer races)-- I still like the motorcycle races the best and I'm confident Desert Tricks can be brought down a fair amount-- had a couple runs that were going to be under 2 minutes where I wiped out at the end or missed that pesky 3rd to the last checkpoint.

Heli Hell is just that--- it took one of my favorite things to do (fly the hunter) and just ruined it :scared:

this is kinda off topic..but i was messing around earlier and the motorcylces seem to behave a lot differently with a passenger on them (dont remember if they did in VC but its a lot easier to get a passenger in SA).. maybe they will hold more momentum for spins (ie spinning faster, longer).. i plan on testing it out later

I predate the existance of video games--- I'm 38.

I don't know if I've driven a bike with a passenger-- have to check it out.

I couldn't tell a difference in VC (I did lots of regular stunts with passengers)--- I never did try to get a superjump with a passenger--- that might have made an interesting video clip 💡
