I think I could have a crack at Vice City. I finished the storyline mission the other day in a few hours without trying too hard. Still, very fast times. 7 hours for San Andreas? Damn! Same goes for GTA III. I thought that would take longer than Vice City. Does this include side missions that aren't required for storyline completion, like The Haitians and Cubans missions, etc? I assume you don't have to do them, but I thought I'd check.

Those are not required-- here is what is--

Ken-- All
Cortez-- all except his last one (all hands on deck)
Diaz-- All
Vercetti-- All
Businesses-- 6 (its fastest to NOT DO Malibu and Film Studio)--these missions are the longest IMO but I bet it might be possible to do the film studio fairly fast and maybe knock off one of the others-- would have to test it out. THe only business you have to do is printworks.
Final missions All (both)

Avery is not required, but there is a point where you finish a mission for Ken and it opens up Avery's missions-- his will be the only icon on the screen until you exit the vehicle for about 15-20 seconds-- then you get a call from Cortez opening up another-- if you don't exit the vehicle and wait or enter the Avery marker before the phone rings-- you may think Avery's are required (they are not).

Avery's missions open up Cuban and Cuban open up Haitian-- I think Shakedown opens up love fist and love fist opens up Mitch Baker missions. Malibu opens up Phil Missions..... so all these are side missions.

I did (and so did that guy) the cone crazy money trick to get enough money to buy everthing.

For III-- I imagine you could knock off alot of missions by avoiding some--by doing sayanora Salvatore you can lock yourself out of several as well as the Kenji hit for Ray before doing all of Kenji missions-- there is more I believe...

I haven't really looked at the SA mission structure, so haven't a real good idea of what is required and not.

I think the key for all of them is not dying and having to restock weapons and of course not having to redo missions-- these guys were very selective in saving.

I went and a had another go at a VC speedrun 2 days ago. Except this one I timed from me starting to play and finishing, not saving and reloading (going by the game clock). I ended up with 4 hours 12 mintues. I'm a bit rusty from not playing VC (or any GTA) for a few months. I know I could get it to sub-3 hours with some practice. But damn, 2:14 is crazy...

yes it is-- I might have to sit down and watch those vids to see what the heck he did to knock off all the time-- will only take 2 hours to watch them....

If I had broadband I'd download these, but I don't so I can't .... maybe I can talk a friend into getting them for me ....
