The fact it's confirmed that this game runs on a Series S is the only thing that gives me hope this will run at 60 fps on PS5.

They've had 13 years and have invite budget, a 30 fps cap in 2025 for the biggest game of the decade just seems wrong. Again I'm talking in hope as I think I will struggle to enjoy it at 30.
As I now have a 120hz TV I'm actually hoping for a 40 fps "best of both worlds" mode. Fingers crossed.

Yeah... but I found the very low count very early on to be a bit on the weird side...
View attachment 1449294

It was dropped unannounced on a Tuesday morning, so may have taken a few minutes for its existence to be known to people. I suspect most people first saw it somewhere other than Youtube, as Rockstar's own numbers announcement suggest - they say half a billion in a day, as the Youtube counter currently stands at 85 million (slightly behind trailer 1's numbers in the same time period).

They should've had a proper countdown tease, it might have crashed the net.
Youtube only updates the viewcount once every few minutes when there are a large number of views coming in. So in the early minutes it can show something way lower than the actual number.

There was a moment when I saw the trailer where the viewcount was roughly the same number as Famines screenshot, but there were already hundreds of thousands of likes.

The GTA5 Expanded and Enhanced version uses a significantly upgraded engine.
This engine is probably a lot closer to the GTA6 engine than to the original PS3/X360 version.

Having a 30fps-only game on a generation that has mostly 60fps games will look bad on them, and I doubt Rockstar would want to do that. Especially since the previous game in the series does run at 60fps.

In the DF video, I notice that they are really just speculating a bit and being very cautious during the fps discussion, but one of the guys brings up a very good point: this has to be able to run on a Series S as well. If you can get 30fps on a series S, you can definitely get 60fps on a PS5 Pro, and probably on a regular PS5 as well.
Furthermore, I disagree with their argument that certain graphics features (like RTAO) are essential to the game design. Sure, it'll look a lot better with it, but it's definitely possible to run the game without it. I doubt they'll even be able to run RTAO on a series S at all.

They are also analysing a trailer from a version of the game that's still a year away from release. There will be further optimisation.

On top of that they have already been proven wrong about their claim that the trailer is only cinematics, as Rockstar tweeted that it's half gameplay, half cinematics.
Whilst the E&E version was them being able to make use of the current console tech with a revamped engine, the thing to remember is that Rockstar only used the advantage of the new consoles for graphical improvements like RT, 4K upscale, 60 FPS, etc. They didn't go back in and add anymore detail, assets, etc. to the game itself that weren't already things planned as DLC as many people were expecting things like denser traffic, new on-the-fly interiors, or even a finished Maze Tower. But, they didn't, they just made everything run smoother and sharper. The 60 FPS is really clean and crisp, but it has noticeable pop in issues when you're flying or moving quickly in a vehicle.

GTA VI is clearly showing us a much bigger, detailed world, with improved lighting & new graphical techniques. I think this is where we're possibly seeing the trade-off versus the E&E in terms of FPS.

To your credit, this is reportedly the newest RAGE engine unlike V which I believe started with RAGE 5, but is we are supposedly now at RAGE 9 which is carrying over & improving on the things RAGE 8 allowed RDR2 to do, in addition to the new graphical options E&E brought out as well as a reportedly new trick of procedural object generation.

I want it to be 60 FPS, I'm expecting a toggle option at best. Realistically, I'm already braced that it'll be 30 FPS and we'll see 60 FPS with the PC and next gen consoles (which will be... awkward b/c Microsoft seems like it's dropping a single console altogether by "making everything an Xbox"). This is Rockstar though, and they are very crafty with their engine to achieve their goals. If they are in fact aiming for 60 FPS, I'd be really interested to see what they're doing under the hood to achieve it, whether it's the procedural generation or tweaking RDR2's clever lighting system that we know is carried over.

Yeah, im in same boat, unless it runs very smoothly and cleanly for a lower than 60fps game, ill try wait for a ps6 version, or patch etc.

Maybe buy it a lil earlier, just to mess around a little, but i don't feel to play thru a major big game in 30fps.
The parts in the trailer where he drives, and we see side of road from inside the car ran 30fps type of performance it seemed, not for me.
But it's a trailer and 1 year in advanced so idk.

I hope the mission are less hard-coded, and that the open world is more interactive, dynamic, explorable interiors, like airports, malls, banks, restos, any big major building that has some functions, with crowds,

lots of things to try do that are part of managing your game, well balanced, challenging, like budget risk reward, like robberies you can try, etc.
That you need to try to survive financially, any activities, like golf or whatever, where you can bet, etc.
Make it all more integrated with the whole game, as needed mechanics, but having choices in which you want do, and what it gives you, maybe upgrades etc.
And find things by listening, observing, talking to strangers in bars etc, with choices, kinda like in sw outlaws.
And physics of vehicles be more fun like in gta4, lots sliding, or a mix of 4 and 5.
It looks much denser than 5, which is cool.

Edit: and i read that the precinct game that is coming out in a few days runs only 30fps on ps5, that be a shame.

I would wait until a PS6 version myself for 60 fps but honestly with the push to a digital only future and the likely extremely high costs of next gen consoles and games I think the PS5 might be my last console.

I didn't mind the driving physics on 4 for crusing around but it got very annoying in cop chases. A mixture of 4 and 5 could be pretty good though .

To be honest I don't really mind 30fps in a "cinematic" type game. If that's what it takes to deliver a Rockstar-level advancement in open world games, it's a compromise I'm ok with. 60fps is unquestionably better, but I don't find it as critical as it is in a racing game - particularly if the image quality is very stable and has quality motion blurring.

I love GTA but more of a Red Dead guy (4000 hours in rdr2+RDO), but this looks great of course , hope gameplay will be good enough

Game looks cool, love the VC vibes,my favorite part of the game so far

Anything new?
Dan Houser confirmed this is the first GTA he's had zero involvement in & it's caused a little concern for folks when it shouldn't (similar to Leslie leaving & we've seen how his work turns out on its own).

Main thing I’m concerned with is how much can we do offline. I really hate not having access to all the cars offline, on console.

I'd brace for that to remain, unfortunately. I believe GTA+ will be their new money maker going forward, but Shark Cards will likely still play a role in getting money out of people who want the latest content as soon as its out, and allowing new cars offline deters that goal.

I forgot the release date for this so did a quick google search the other day, and there were some recent articles posted that a possible 3rd trailer might show up in November.

To be expected… good for me I’m working away the last week of May. Though I’m also usually at Silverstone end of November so hopefully the two don’t coincide

It already felt a bit too quiet for how close to May it was getting.

I do expect there will be a third trailer, or at least screenshot dump soon. Same happened with the previous delay.

Considering how long they’ve been doing this and how many games they have released by now you’d think they would develop a feeling for wehen to announce a release date. But no. Every single time.

This is the second delay, expected a 3rd one. This is a 2027 game.

"2025" to "fall 2025" to "may 2026" to "nov 2026" - as of now.

On May 2 this year they said May 26 2026, 1 year and 24 days away.
On Nov 6 they delayed it to Nov 19 2026, 1 year and 13 days away.

So it took them 6 months and 4 days, to get 11 days closer to release 😅

At this rate the game will actually release on July 15 2043, if my math is correct 😂

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Rockstar Just Delayed Grand Theft Auto VI Again

It seems like only six months ago that we were bringing you the bad news that the next title in the video gaming culture phenomenon series Grand Theft Auto had been delayed to 2026, and here we are again...

Ha not surprised at all and as a matter of fact I had said they would delay it again until the holidays of 2026 and here we are. I honestly won't be surprised if it gets delayed yet another time past next year.

Hey everyone, R* Employee of many years here!

Understandably I want to remain anonymous due to retaliation from the Company, but I may be willing to verify I'm an employee with @Spider-Vice via DM (if required). I am also a member of the Union.

I've been reading a lot of the discussion on here and elsewhere about the firing of more than 34 of my colleagues last week (31 in the UK + 3 in Canada) and have seen a lot of disinformation and lies that are really concerning. Particularly concerning how so many folk are willing to believe the Company's excuses.

Last week, my colleagues who were in the studio were each individually messaged by HR for a short friendly meeting, under the friendly guise of "Hey, are you free for a quick chat?"

Upon attending this meeting they were handed an envelope with a short letter stating that their employment had been terminated for "gross misconduct" regarding posts made in Discord.

They failed to provide any evidence when asked, nor was any stated in the letter. And did not divulge any other information or reasoning - "and no other reason"

They refused their right to Union representation in the disciplinary meeting (which is against UK employment law) and were frogmarched out of the studio with the meeting lasting less than 5 minutes.

For colleagues who were not in the Studio that day, they received a phone call from HR that lasted less than 2 minutes telling them they were fired and that they'd receive the same letter as above. I am aware of one employee who had a panic attack at this moment, and HR hung up on them during this panic attack not caring at all about their wellbeing.

These colleagues of mine were hard workers who have spent many many years at R* in critical roles. With colleagues who have been at R* for more that 18 years and none of them have ever had a disciplinary in that time. They are not easily replaced and will certainly affect us in making our project deadlines.

These are very senior artists, animators, QA testers, designers, programmers and producers. Including Leads. All super talented people who were proud of their work over multiple R* titles, and all they wanted was the best for R* and their fellow colleagues.

Some of these members were off sick, recovering from surgery or on paternity leave. Fired without pay, losing their careers and putting them into hardship in the lead up to Christmas, and even potentially losing their VISAs to work in the UK.

Let me make this clear! I never saw any discussion/leaking of Rockstar projects in the Union Discord. The only ever discussion was around unionisation efforts and the working conditions at R*. The Discord wasn't public. It was a private Discord group that only contained R* employees and the IWGB Union officials.

This was Union Busting and nothing else! Everyone fired was a Union Member, they were also predominantly from those who were on the Union Organising Committees of each UK studio.

Just one week before, the Union had reached ~200 members taking us over the 10% threshold required to seek recognition and begin engaging in collective bargaining. Allowing us to negotiate directly with management on the key issues that affect us: worsening crunch, inadequate pay and inflexible working arrangements.

They have fired over 34 of us now. There were over 250 of us in that Union/Employee Discord group. There is the fear that if they get away with this, they'll have nothing stopping them from doing this again and again.
Those of us who are lucky and remain for now work in fear! Fearful when talking to each other at the tea prep, fearful that we're next in line and are easily got rid of, too scared to go outside the studio and talk to (or even acknowledge) our colleagues outside protesting in fear of reprisals. Morale in the studio is at rock bottom. When we should be excited about what's to come over the next year we are now totally deflated and our trust and confidence in others is totally shot.

Which is the truly heartbreaking part, as for us in the Union, all of our ambition was to make R* a happier, fairer, safer and more equitable place. That's all. What has happened clearly shows that we care more about the wellbeing of our colleagues at Rockstar than the Company does.

The union remains unbowed and is fighting to win the reinstatement of every dismissed member of staff at Rockstar through legal means and campaigning.

This fight is critical, if Rockstar can get away with this, they will keep treating their workers with disdain, disrespect, and subjecting them to continued illegal treatment.

Thanks for your time, and I hope this is some truth that helps you all understand what's going on here at the moment.

I you would be so kind, you can contribute to the fundraiser to support those fighting their dismissal here: https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/support-rockstar-workers-fighting-unfair-dismissals/

It would be really appreciated if you could also share the above link. I won’t be cross posting this to other forums, but please feel free to share.

Cheers x

The firing of the 40 employees might be one of the reason this got delayed. This firing situation is just really horrible.

As weird as it might sound, I hope they cook a full-fledged online solo experience like they're starting to do with GTA V.
Not weird at all, it's something I could definitely see them doing. Just build upon GTA 5's online mode that's been added to over the years and make it even better for 6. The foundation is already there, the time has also been here, question is has Rockstar utilized those to make it robust enough.

Jason Schrier says the delay and the firings are unrelated.
