GTMSA Presents
GTPLMS Season 4

Information & Signup

Welcome to the 4th season of GTPLMS. This season see's a slight change to the format of previous years as well as a reorganisation of the classes available, but racing is expected to be as close as ever! So sign-up bellow and take part in the most exciting events of the year!!!

General Information and Regulations

7 Rounds
1 week for qualifying
1 week for main race

This season there will be two different race types, standard and enduro. There will be 5 rounds of the standard race lasting 135km, and 2 enduro rounds lasting 250km.

Week starts on Monday, with times to be sent via PM by 11.59pm GMT on Sunday

There is NO HP penalty for joining the series part way through the season.

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by GTPLMS sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ABud) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manor.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

  • Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
  • No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
  • Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
  • No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
  • All decisions by GTMSA officials are final

Qualifying

  • Single hot lap in time trial (arcade) mode
  • Weight penalty in effect
  • RS tires only
  • ASM is prohibited TCS is optional
  • Laps MUST be clean, no collisions no matter how small are acceptable
  • Points: 3pts - 2pts - 1pt
  • 20 second penalty added to race time if you dont submit a qualifying time

Race

  • Single race (arcade mode) lasting either 135km (standard) or 250km (enduro)
  • Weight penalties in place
  • RS, RM, RH tires or any combination thereof
  • Strong Tire Wear
  • AI at +8
  • Ai tires RS
  • Forced Pit Entry penalty system
  • ASM is prohibited TCS is optional
  • Points for race: 10-8-6-4-2-1
  • The following points will be allocated for finishing within 103% of the winning time:
    Standard: 2 points
    Enduro: 5 points
  • The following points will be allocated for finishing outside 103% of the winning time:
    Standard: 1 point
    Enduro: 3 points

Weight Penalty System

Weight penalties will be applied in RACES AND QUALIFYING. The following penalties will be allocated follwing the results of the race and apply only for the next round:

1st +5%
2nd +3%
3rd +1%
4th - 6th 0%
7th & 8th -1%
9th & 10th -2%

Championship Deciders

If one or more cars are tied for points in the championship the decider will be as follows:

  • Number of race wins
  • Number of pole positions
  • Number of second places
  • Number of third places etc.

Car Lineup

All cars have been setup in an attempt to make them equal in race pace. In other words, cars with very good (low) tire wear will be slightly slower than those that burn their tires up.

This sounds so interesting to me, but...I'm not sure if I understand it completely. ^^; Do you have another thread that will explain it...more fully?

I guess some of my bigger questions are...who am I racing, exactly. Is it that I participate in a race in GT4, racing the AI, and then afterwards the total time it took to complete the race is compared to the other people who chose to participate?

And, of course I'm wondering if I got the complete wrong idea and that's nothing like it at all. >_<

Well, you actually had it right; You race against the AI in the Arcade mode of GT4(With the proper Car & Race settings, of course!) and submit your total time and Fastest race lap before the deadline for each race.

As for me entering, well...I'll think about it. The one thing that kind of irks me about the GT1 class is that the Nissan R390 GT1 is a pig to drive in the Arcade mode because the stock downforce ettings are TERRIBLE (Set at 45/70 default i think). Yet i can race a stock R390 GT1 in the Simulation mode and win against the prototypes...

Thanks so much. ^^

Hmm. I shall think about entering, and thinking about what class I would like to enter. I love Corvettes, so I'm tempted by the C5-R. I'll have to give each of the cars a run to see which car I like the handling of most. But, tentatively, I would have to say I will participate.

One thing to keep in mind is that you'll probably end up having to race above the posted weight and under the posted HP settings. I'd reccomend that you try out each car that strikes your fancy at different settings, as they can have a HUGE impact on how well a car can drive.

That's what killed me in the Super GT series; I could race as well as the next guy when the setting's are at standard, but every time i ended up placing well one race it came to bite on the @$$ the next...Still, i'm probably going to participate as well; I just need time to test out my car choices...

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to enter this again, but what class to choose?!

All of them:sly: To be honest im only entering LMP as it takes so much time to administrate the series! And yes, the weight penalties make a big difference (tho there aren't any power penalties this time), but they are there to prevent one person from winning every round and to stimulate competition.

Hi. Ive re-worded slightly the race section to make it more clear, but yes you run against AI in arcade mode (giving them a sound whooping too) and then PM me your times by the end of the week. At this point i post them up in the race thread and points are decided by who does the race in the shortest time.

I think I might try entering this. It seems fun.
Don't know what car to choose. It will have to be LMP just so I get to use a certain number.
I'm strange I know :dopey:

Sounds like a good reason to me:) I did nearly 700km in testing on these cars, so hopefully they will all be fairly similiar in race pace. Picking one aught to come down to which car drives the way you like. Will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with, and dont forget you can change your mind until the end of the preseason race.

*Shurgs* It's up to you really; I just thought that it added somthing..."Extra", you know? (That and i was able to line up The United Colors of Benneton as sponsors!:)

I figured i'd throw my hat into the ring on this...

The option to drive one of my favorite high-horsepower cars is too good to pass up!

I just didnt want anyone stealing my number =]
Question, if I choose a car from say GT1 aswell does it have to still be T17 or does it have to use a new number in the class' set number?

You pick another number within the GT1 range (32-60), the T numbers are just if you wanted to test several cars in the same class (like the Bentley and the Audi in LMP).

Welcome to the series by the way, nice to have another Brit on board.

Well, I've decided to compete in the P1 class. I'm finishing up some lap time tests, then moving on to tire wear comparisons.

I'm entering GT1!

Will you be adding any other tracks to the schedule befre the season gets underway? I wouldn't mnd seeing Grand Valley Speedway on the schedule. :) Also, will 250k come out to 24 laps for the Le Mans round? I wouldn't mind sticking to tradition for this series and keep it at the 24 Laps distance. ;)

I may add GT1 to my GTPLMS racing entry, so I'll see what I got before posting my choices on there.

I'll stick to the 250km race length for the enduros. Grand Valley is the pre-season race, i've reduced the season length to 7 rounds in the hope that less people will drop out of the series.

Ah, going with the (European)Le Mans Series-styled schedule, eh?;):D OK, I'll live with that.

I think I'll actually participate in this season.

ABud, is it okay if I change my GTS entry? I actually got around to testing my selections tonight and found that the Camaro isn't as fun or fast as I remembered. I'm also trying to keep my entries unique, or close to it; I'd rather not use the car everyone else is using. My LMP and GT1 entries would stay the same, at least for now.

I'm a pretty good hotlapper, so I think I'll do well in qualifying sessions, but the races will be a different story. I tend to push too hard and make mistakes, and burn through the tires way faster than most - I was barely getting three laps at Grand Valley with the Camaro on mediums, for example. It should be an interesting season, and I hope more people sign up - five in each class would be great. 👍

No problems about changing your cars, you dont need to finalise entries until the end of pre-season.

Yeesh! I think i'll follow Austin343's lead and add another test car; The McLaren just doesn't drive as well as i recalled...Also, anyone have the guts to test out the Panoz?

When I buy/win the other cars I'll let you know. If I'll enter the other classes - probably GTS. I'm trying to wait until the black cars come up before I spend all my money. ^^;

And I also have a few questions:

-How do you calculate the laps of the race? I thought you could only set laps - not distance (135, 250...)? Will you post the number of laps?

-How do you set the computer to use RS tires?

And...

-What is the Forced Pit Entry Penalty System?

Laps will be posted but with a little bit of math I am sure you can calculate them for any track.

When you go into arcade > you select a track > and you select your car > then you can adjust the following change transmission, Aids and then tires.
Whatever tires you choose here that's what the AI will have in the race.
Once in the main screen to start the race you can adjust your own tires accordingly to the race or Qualifying.

Force Pit Entry:
You can adjust this on the Settings menu. can't recall the steps at this time...
But what it means is that if during the race you hit a wall or a car you will automatically will be forced to pit. Your penalty will be to slowdown on pit lane and then continue with the time loss.

I would like to participate as well

1. I'll post up individual race threads with the total number of laps for each round.

2. When you first setup the race it asks for a tire selection. Select RS here and then choose your own tires in the setup section on the next screen (where you also change your HP, KG settings etc.)

3. Forced Pit Entry is a penalty system that you can select in the race options that will force you to take a pit penalty if you hit other cars/ walls with much force.

Hope that clears things up, and welcome to the series!
