Anyone up for practice later on tonight?
Sounds good what time?
I don't get home till another hour and a half...
Seems like Monza is gonna come down to braking points and not making any mistakes. For me it's tough hitting that second chicane without going over the blue square. Started to get it down after a few laps, but if I'm off my breaking point just a little bit I ended up either over shooting or having scrub too much speed. I have a feel its gonna be a great race though.![]()
I have something of a dilemma. I know I'm going to brake too soon. I put in a few clean laps last night, but never got close to the 2:12 lap time.
I'm really worried about the first corner, anyone not practicing enough will over shoot and slam into the back of us. We had some practice tonight, myself and rxp had a good 3 lap battle.
For anyone who hasn't practiced, you really have to for this track. If you don't know your breaking points you'll ruin the race for someone else. Lets not have that happen.
I have something of a dilemma. I know I'm going to brake too soon. I put in a few clean laps last night, but never got close to the 2:12 lap time. I loose too much speed braking (and at a few points, with too much wheel spin during acceleration).
My dilemma is, if anyone is behind me, they will hit me. I was checked into a wall in practice last night. I was checked into a wall during the reverse-grid start last week (without rain, and it wasn't even the first turn).
Basically, if anyone is behind me, I have to let off and let them pass before we even get close to a chicane. So, if I have to let everyone pass, I think it may be best if I skip this week.
Can anyone do a 2:12? I wasn't racing with any golfs last night, but if they can do a 2:12 then this isn't a fair race.
Last night, drifting off rxp i managed a 15.3 or 15.5. I braked late on the second chicane on a practice lap and went over the blue and ran a 14.2. What times are the golfs running? I couldn't shake a civic on the straits, i assume the golf will be the same.
You guys mind if I bring out my AWD civic for this race?![]()
I have a practice room up at my end right now if anyone wants to join in for some practice.
So far tonight, I've gotten down to a 2'13.0, so I think I'm improving. Maybe a little more angle in the front end toe helped out some.
There's no way a teg can do a 2:13.0....should be fun anyway
im in 12's
Only time I've gotten that low is when I messed up and cut over the blue square that second chicane
Exactly! On the second chicane there's a blue square, only your right two tires can touch this.
Clarification, I thought you said in practice a few nights ago that we couldn't touch the blue at all, which is why we can cut the first chicane because there is no blue.
Also, I vote for steady rain. We've practiced and learn our braking points in steady rain. I know I won't get any faster when the track dries. Not that that matters.
Also, when you setup the track to test on are you guys making the rain fixed? Otherwise after a while the rain dies off, tires will heat up as the track dries and times will improve.
If RACECAR is there we could have him watch the people and if they cut the chicane he can type something in the chat.
If we can't touch the blue, then park the pace car there! Or Silver-sylph you could park there during qualifing. You wouldn't even have to be watching us, if we hit you then our lap is ruined so there's no chance of a false qualifiing time.
