Grand Turismo Motor Sports Association Presents:
Gran Turismo Planet Le Mans Series - Season 3
Gran Turismo Planet Le Mans Series - Season 3
This promises to be the best season yet of GTP Le Mans Series racing. GTMSA has brought all of what you liked about Seasons 1 and 2, and added some extra flair that we (I) hope you will love.
First, there will be three seperate classes for Season 3: Prototype (PRO), Grand Touring 1 (GT1), and Grand Touring 2 (GT2). GTMSA has decided to limit the field of eligible cars and classes to make sure that each class has plenty of drivers, and plenty of competition.
Secondly, the races are no longer set by distance, but by time. After extensive testing, GTMSA believes that this system will see all classes finishing with roughly the same time, but different distances completed.
IE. PRO cars will run 40 minutes, constituting perhaps 22 laps. GT1 cars would run perhaps 20 laps, and GT2 cars 19, meaning that ALL cars would run for roughly 22 laps.
Thirdly, and a big one from last season was the sprint-race qualifying. This has been scratched from Season 3's schedule. All qualifying will be done Hot-Lap style, with points distribution described below.
A new Results Display, more powerful cars, new choices of manufacturer, and much more. Please read below for more information, sign up in this thread, and Welcome to GTPLMS Season 3.
General Competition Rules and Regulations:
All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by the sanctioning body, Gran Turismo MotorSports Association. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me, ICallShotgun) and said official(s) will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manor. All race and qualifying specific information will be in the individual event threads. These are there for your information, and should be thoroughly inspected. This includes, but is not limited to deadlines, race length, car specifications, penalties assessed, and anything else that is relevant to that event.
Event Description
Events will be held over a ONE WEEK PERIOD except for Double Point events, which will be held over TWO WEEK periods. Qualification AND Race will be completed in the same time period, no more seperation of qualifying and races.
All cars must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA. These have been tested vigorously for months and are as close to balanced as GTMSA can get them. This does not mean they are set in stone, as GTMSA will adjust any and all settings to keep competition fair and fun throughout the season.
Registration Entries (read:Time Submissions) must be received with all information shown below. Failure to adhere to this format could result in penalties being assessed for improper registration. (read: it makes my job easier if you'd use the correct format please)

Number of Pit Stops: Note: Please just give me the number of stops. Although informative, I do not require tire strategy or lap numbers, only the total number of stops.
Penalties for Late Time Submission
In the past, LMS time submissions have allowed for late entry, this season this will NO LONGER BE THE CASE. Any entry not received by the Deadline posted in the race thread will receive a DNS (Did not Start) and zero points for the event. Anyone wishing to earn participation points must let GTMSA steward(s) know beforehand that they will not be able to compete, via race-thread or via Private Message. These drivers will earn a DNF (Did not Finish) and receive 1 pt for participation.
All Standard Online Racing Rules apply.
- No Cheating, Hybrids, Sharking, or running incorrect settings. Run the car I set up for you.
- Try and keep two wheels on the road at all times. No shortcuts. This is endurance racing, mistakes will happen. But do not take advantage of it.
- No wall-riding. It slows you down. It's also a good way to get a penalty.
- Save some sort of proof of your race time and setup. I have had to ask for proof before, and it has cost podiums. Digital Pic, replay, video, anything that can show total time and settings used.
Points and Championship Description
A Driver's Championship will be in each division. Points for races will be as follows:
1st - 10pts
2nd - 8pts
3rd - 6pts
4th - 4pts
5th - 2pts
6th - 1pt
Additionally, fastest lap in the race will receive 1pt, and all participants (explained above) will receive 1pt.
Qualifying points will be as follows
1st - 3pts
2nd - 2pts
3rd - 1pt
With each participant receiving 1pt for participation (explained above).
Double Points Events are held throughout the season during the marquis events. These are the season opener at Suzuka, The Le Mans 24, Petit Le Mans, and the season-ending Monterrey Sports Car Championships. Double points are earned for race-points only (IE 1st place receives 20pts, 2nd - 16pts, etc). Points for Qualifying, Fast Lap, and Participation are NOT counted for double points.

Also, Le Mans 24 will also be an invitational. Regular season drivers are automatically invited, and invitations will go out throughout GTPlanet to winners of other series, including FormulaGT, WRS, ATR, and others. (PM me off-list if you have suggestions)

If there are any questions, feel free to post them here or PM me and I'll be more than happy to get back to you.
Registration will be open throughout the series, and anyone can join at any time. There is a 5% HP penalty for 2 events for registering after Round 1 has started. This is only fair.
Pre-season events will start in early May (read: roughly 3 weeks), with season starting in mid May. Dates are not final yet as SuperGT is not yet complete, but consider perhaps a 1 week break, maybe not.
Good luck everyone and Welcome to Season 3 of the GTPLMS.
