This is possibly the most awesome vehicle ever conceived.
But can it beat a Mercedes in a drag race?

Voted "cool" only because it still needs air to run. Air is for losers. This could've been a space fighter.

Just kidding, instant Sub-Zero from me.

Makes most other military planes look boring and in comparison they probably are. Sub Zero.

Among with the coolest military hardware ever. Sub zero.

I didn't realize that they were so old, they still look like something out of a sci-fi movie. Easily the coolest aircraft of any kind.

About 270 Kelvin cooler than the air at 85,000 feet. Even with a turning radius about the size of a US state, the dark majesty of the skies sits as one of most imperishable creations of modern engineering.

It also provides a good excuse to read this again.

I want that book!

Don't really care for planes but this one is awesome! Sub Zero.

I still have about ten different models of it sitting around from my childhood. The thing is about the coolest thing man has ever operated, I mean it's faster than a 🤬 bullet!

I'm really glad no one selected "uncool" or "seriously uncool."

There isn't a single aspect of this plane that isn't cool at the very least.
It soils itself when it's on the ground. That's not very cool.

Still an easy Sub Zero.

I already told in another thread that Steve McQueen's garage should be renamed after this. This is probably the coolest thing ever.

Cooler than Neptune's moon Triton. 👍

The fuel used for this aircraft was so hard to burn that they had to use a different fuel to ignite so they could get the heat to ignite the main fuel. And because of the immense heat at mach 3 flight, the aircraft had to be designed with room for the metal to expand, so it leaked constantly when it wasn't hot. Once up to speed the heat would seal up the airframe.

So, I voted on gut feeling alone on this thing without knowing too much about it other than it was stupidly mind-defyingly fast and looked incredible awesome and sinister. So I just spent the last three hours at work reading about it, about the A12 and the U2, and not working at all. Thus, double sub zero. This thing is absolutely amazing.

Yeah, I was really surprised to learn a while ago, that the SR-71 dates back a decade before even I was born. Still amazes me, even though it's as impractical as storing an extra continent in your back yard.

Sub-Zero.

No. Subzero is not enough for this:

No. Not Subzero. It's more like... Blackbird.

A spy plane that can go at Mach 3 and fly at the edge of space in the 1960's is easily Sub Zero forever.

If McQueen doesn't make it to Steve McQueen Land on the wall, I think we should rename it to Blackbird Hangar.
