Ok, so this may sound a bit silly. But I thought I'd put this out there anyways.

Just a few minutes ago I was looking at a thread. More specifically exigeracer's car photography thread. And I saw ferrari_chris's post saying that his pictures were good enough to be in a calendar. And that got me to thinking. What if GTP were to have some sort of online calendar with pictures from our users here at GTP. It could be like a monthly selection kind of like a photomode comp. Except that it could be Real cars. Or photomode cars. And each month there could be a poll as to which car photo would be the car of the month. There could be a calendar underneath the car with all sorts of dates that are important to us in the Car and GT world. For example. Known updates could be listed as to when they're coming out, Local Gatherings could be posted up, Car shows, Races, and of Course holidays. It doesn't sound like it'd be too difficult to create something such as this. And It would be useful at times too.

Anyways, just thought I'd make this suggestion before it decided to jump out of my brain before I went to sleep.
 
We could probably do just a little competition for the already existing calendar feature on the boards. Although we might have to get somebody to keep a closer watch on updating it if it was to become a useful (and used) feature.
 
Well yeah a little competition would be good to see what picture would accompany the calendar for the month.

Also The calendar of which you spoke of is at the bottom of the main page, and I wasn't even aware such a thing existed. Thats totally not what I was envisioning in my head at 1am last night. I was looking at a realistically sized calendar that everyone could find with ease.
 
GT5P has a calendar with 'car beauty shots' so it would be a nice touch on the site... maybe in a smaller format though. It would be an opportunity to better show off the photomode talent here.

I forgot that the regular GTP doesn't have everything neatly placed and easy to use like lite does... It'd be more used probably if it wasn't hiding.
 
Yeah most likely. I didn't even notice it till this morning. And it looked relatively useless sitting at the bottom of the main page.

It was displayed prominently in the header of every forum page for nearly 6 years, yet garnered only a handful of visits every day (along with the user list and help pages). That's why I didn't hesitate to remove it while creating GTP9. It's just not something that people actually have much practical use for.
 
Well, yes, although I'm not sure what would be on it. Photomode shots cannot be "sold" as images of the Gran Turismo games are copyrighted material.
 
What about using member's photos? Less issues (have the member sign or agree that his image can be used, etc.), and I'm positive we'd be able to avoid what happened on that Ford forum.
 
Real photographs? That would be different, of course. I'm not aware of the issue you are referring to on a Ford forum. :confused:
 
We have a bunch of very good photographers and other graphic artists here on GTP who could undoubtedly make (a) fantastic calender(s)

This has to do with a calendar that a bunch of guys from a Mustang group put together and Ford I think sued them for using pictures of Mustangs (that were the members') and told them to stop selling it. Of course later they changed their mind.
 
A calender could be used to show end dates for organised GTP competions aswell. Sorry if anyones posted that already but it would work awsome instead of crawling through loads of competion pages.
