The carrera 4-cam engine in the 550 Spyder. Made 160bhp in 1954.

Yeah, but that was just in a handful of mostly competition cars. I think the point he was making was with large-scale production cars. Naturally aspirated ones at that.

That engine was also in the 356 Carrera and enlarged to 2.0 litres for the 904 Carrera GTS. Not mega large scale, but there are at least 6,000 engines out there. They were all naturally aspirated and air cooled. Granted the BMW was helped by a turbo.

Low Cool. Being Canadian actually pulls it out of meh land.

Not as cool as the Bricklin, however.

I like it, definitely a more interesting take on a sports car given the period it was made in and where it came from. That said, it does have that whiff of 'kit car' about it like so many of these low-volume sports cars from the time do. Its aged gracefully though, so I'm gonna give it a solid cool.

It's cool. Always good to see countries with no automotive history attempt to manufacture cars.

Sub-Zero? Cool? Meh? Uncool? Seriously uncool? :P

Sub-zero! I absolutely adore obscure cars! Nothing like pulling up to a track day, or any where else for that matter, and having even the most intelligent petrol heads do a second take.

I'd love to have a go, but it does look like something you'd build in your shed. It gets close to being nicely-styled too, but also has that traditional kit car disproportionate look. For that reason, uncool. Rises above seriously so because it's probably a hoot to drive and you'll never be mistaken for someone with an over-inflated ego.

Just the name alone bumps it to cool despite the kit car appearance.

I'm sure it's fun little car, but it looks like kit-car therefore it's uncool. Note it has same drivetrain as Renault 10 which is basically same car as Renault 8 that was polled yesterday.

Looks like someone tried to make a replica Lotus Europa with the plans scrunched in the middle. Light weight and modest power bring it to Meh.

Meh.

It was built in a country, and by people who unfortunately only had a rough idea of what a sportscar should look like. There are lots of design cues from Italian and British cars, but on the whole it looks like a kit car more than anything else.

"Can't import Alpines? Guess we'll settle for a car that looks like someone's sketchy attempt to make a fastback Europa."

Uncool.
This was my thinking too. In the looks department it's a very poor Alpine replacement. Overall though, minus the Alpine fact, it's a neat little car and is probably boat loads of fun in the twisty's. I voted cool.

It's cool because it's rear-engined, but it should have been front engined so they could have fit a bigger one in it. A 200 hp V6 would have been nice.

It looks like a kit car that's trying to be everything that was cool from the era, but missed the mark by a mile.

Seriously Uncool.

Canada = Seriously uncool.

I mean honestly who would ever live in Canada.
