SZ. I went to the local Honda dealership with my Mom back then. While she was deciding between the Civic sedan and Accord(she bought the '84 Accord), I was sitting in this.

I remember the gauges, seats and ease of the shifter. I'm surprised I've never bought one. Shame on me.

Easy high cool.

The CRX will always but somewhat legendary in my eyes, at least in Mk1 and 2 form. And this Mk1 gen is no different IMO. Great little coupe, with the chassis to match. Also, I'd usually prefer the Mk2 visually, but the more I look at the Mk1, the more I appreciate it.

They have all disintegrated into a pile of rust here. Too bad, I liked these things as a kid.

Cool.

I dont think I've ever seen an '83 to '87 CR-X riced. Ever. Ricers usually stick with 90s and 00s Civics and Accords, occasionally preludes, but not so much 80s Hondas.
There is absolutely no trace of an unmolested CR-X over here.

It's from the 80s and isn't a yuppy staple, so to me that makes it acceptable. Cool.

ruined by the damn ricers over here.

Personally I love the fact that the last one was debadged

And that's just 4 pages of the 23 pages of Barry CR-X/CRX and del Sol on BB.

See? No 83 to 87 CR-Xs riced.

That's because you weren't around when these were still somewhat available for purchase.

I've never seen an '83-'87 CR-X, full stop. Same can be said of a stock '87-'91.

I also never cared much for the first gen but I'd say enough time has passed for them to rise up into Cool, even if they most certainly weren't back in the day. Partly helped by the second gen being the primary magnet for tasteless modders and a growing affinity for old '80s styling that doesn't just stop at a bland 3-box.

Other than that first one and that second one (!?), those all look a lot better than any of the second generation ones. Styling seems to lend itself to fiddling with it more.
I think it's less a case of them suiting modification more, and more a case of them marginally pre-dating the trend for cock-awful bodykits.

@Dennisch Three of those are cheaper than they'd be in the UK. Mk1 CRXs are so rare over here they're always ludicrously expensive when they come up for sale now.

That's only a matter of time before that happens here too. Most 80's cars are already going for silly money here.

I can't bring myself to vote. I want to say it's cool, but it's not. I still like them too much to vote uncool.

Ok fine... voted uncool. Great little car, not cool at all.

One of these in my suburb, though the last time I saw it was when it was congesting a roundabout because a wheel had literally fallen off of it.

I'm also one of the few that prefers the Del Sol, but neither are cool.

Always had a soft spot for the Del Sol, mainly because when I first saw a picture of one in the mid-90s it looked quite exotic, and later it was one of the first cars in the Gran Turismo series that I drove. All usefully pre-rice era as well, when it was a little easier to appreciate them. Even drove one about ten years ago, before I eventually bought my first MX-5. Quite enjoyed it.

I'd say CRX coolness increases with age though, since the newer CRXs get the progressively more likely they are to be modified terribly. I've given this first-gen model a "cool". Neat, understated styling, and rare enough that the few left on the roads tend to be fairly nice ones rather than bangers.
