You know the reputation Audi drivers have today? Or that BMW drivers had in the 2000s? That's what Jetta drivers were in the 90s.

I'm pretty sure that this elongated Golf 3 had a lot more engine options than the 3 posted.

It's also known as a Vento.

It's just some European box that would probably stop working in 3 years or so, just like every other everyday European car.

*Note I'm talking from an average local person perspective over here, where european cars are looked down upon for being crap.

They still have that reputation now. No matter what generation....

Mr. Regular just about sums up my feelings about them.

I hate Jettas, but I don't hate the MK3 as much as I hate the MK4. So it's an uncool.

Oh look, a kid's drawing of a car. Three boxes and two wheels. Uncool.

This was my first car in high school. I bought it with big wheels, a painted wing, a "DTM style exhaust", and red latex painted interior bits for reasons I can't figure out today. I would make it stock over the years I owned it, but what was I thinking? Not to mention it was an unreliable turd. My hate of VW stems from that car.

If I could vote something worse than Seriously Uncool, I would.

Even when I was kinda into the Max Power/FnF type cars, I always thought Jesse's Jetta looked terrible. The regular version isn't any better. SU

That's obviously not the one they actually used in the movie.

Jesse's Jetta didn't have brake calipers.

I imagine they used various ones like they do with all their movie cars, there isn't just one car for the entire movie. Also it was a joke, it really doesn't matter which one the image is of, it's a car from the production and the photo was used to show how uncool the car is.

I was also making a joke. I was aware that there may very well have been several Jettas they used for the movie.

I was just being facetious is all.

More appealing than a CIVIC for its time.

Okay, hold up. This thing more appealing than the Civic sedan on the 90's? I understand Civic gets riced for what they are but, I'd rock a Civic Sedan over the Jetta. They can be cool depending how you use them for and how you modified it.

Now I looked up some images, didn't have much look with the Jetta, which is unfortunate.

Back in those days, an out of the box Jetta was cooler to have as a 20-something than a Civic. But yeah, they’re dull econoboxes without much redeeming quality other than basic transportation.

I have no doubt that the Civic is better made, but a Jetta with a VR6 seems pretty interesting. I can see the appeal.

I love the Vento VR6 ;)

Have a massive soft spot for all variants of the MK3!
