Thanks everyone, haters keep hating. It's a chicks car... Life's too short to drive something boring.

Fun? Well thanks, but just wait until I get the party snacks out:

Funny, I always keep those in my car, or lifesavers original mints for my passengers and I. Goes good with the cotton candy air freshener. 👍

Sub freaking zero!!

Sorry guys.. I own one. The V6 is actually a very good car. Especially for a first time driver like me. Haha. Don't count what I think though because I'm obviously biased. I love my Soma! I could never rate her anything less than sub zero.

And personally, this Camry is far more interesting and cool than today's Camry.. At least in my opinion.

I can tell you that the 97 V6 Manual I have doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. It's uncompromised in just about every area. Leather seats, nice luxuries but without the nosy computers of today's cars, incredibly comfortable ride, super reliable (mine has 200,000 miles and is running flawlessly) and 194 BPH is far from shabby in a car weighing just 3200 lbs. It's also very safe with a Euro NCAP of 4 stars all around which isn't too bad. And I was able to drive 500 miles on just one tank in one, so pretty decent mileage as well!

Plus, with the special 5 spoke rims and small rear wing that mine has, along with the sun roof which is nice for living in Texas, it's a very happy and good looking car I feel.

Says the guy who drives enormous, 1980's land barges.

Just because they are boring to you doesn't mean they are boring to him.

Says the guy in the Focus :p

Touche.

Just because they are boring to you doesn't mean they are boring to him.

And just because they are boring to him doesn't mean they're boring to everyone, or that they are a chick car, or a car for, as he so ignorantly put it, "a three letter f word".

I guess that's true.

You got it! & proud! If I could get something older, I would trust me. :indiff: But my car was 500 bucks and never had any problems, +Everyone who's been driven around or drove it has said they love it. :sly:

There's a bit of irony to that argument.

Yeah. Which is why I'm not going to get into it. Ford is almost as bad as Toyota.

Uncool, it didn't get a "seriously uncool" because I factored in the reliability. But when I see this car and imagine the type of person that would drive it I picture someone who has no interest in cars or the thrill of driving at all.

Oh shut up you and I both know there are some Fords you like  :p

Would that logic be on how well they do in a derby?

You're right, just teasing. :p

No actually my first car was an '88 Crown Vic I tore up real good, tranny went out but it still fired right up 2 days after running with no rad, for like 10 minutes. lol. But yea a Toyota would get squashed, they suck for that stuff what's that got to do with a car being cool or not I have no clue.

I voted Sub-Zero because I don't know when a joke is over.

I'm lost now. I thought you just said Fords are bad? Sounded like a complement to me...

There's very few I like, I bought this one to destroy it, not to fix it up or enjoy it in any other way.

I find it cool because of what someone else said...

Not only is it good at what it does, it's great at what it does.

Genuinely a great car in almost every regard. Only the lack luster (not to be confused with "bad" handling and underwhelming power hold it back).

Handling wasn't good but it went exactly where you pointed it unless you were trying to play speed racer. Engine was very economical and had enough power to do everything a daily driver needs.

All in all I think it's a cool car because it does what it does so darn well. 👍

Btw, nostalgia has a part in all that... A '98 was my first personally bought and owned car. Drove it from 27k to 182k miles, never had a problem. 👍

Oh, and to fit in...

How did fourteen people vote sub-zero? There is absolutely nothing cool about this car... but I would say it's the least uncool of all Camrys.

Well to you maybe but other liked it including me it does what it supposed to do

reliable-practical-comfortable and good on gas

it was not built for racing or to be a sporty saloon in anyway

They aren't cool, no. But I love the crap out of mine. Comfy, 30+ MPG, 4 doors? Yeah.

A brilliant car, I wouldn't say exciting but I've had far worse driving experiences - Practical, comfortable, economic and absurdly reliable.

Seriously uncool.

I have the V6 and I did 50 MPG today on the freeway. Amazing mileage when just cruising.

Why are we still talking about this car though? It clearly isnt still up for voting.

Downhill, drafting a semi truck at 40 mph with the air conditioning off?

Having actually gone through and read all the posts, I'll go ahead and write one more.

Me having a Camry makes me not a car person?
That's probably why I have 3000+ posts on a car forum (I very rarely post in the GT section). Or drive between 2 and 6 hours once a month to scrutineer for the SCCA. Or keep up with the latest car news. Or try to race my own car as much as I can without sacrificing what makes it good.
I'm sorry that because I drive 2000 miles a month and actually need to be able to do it reliably means I hate cars. Sorry that I COULD have gotten a Miata by now, but found that having 5 seats and a large trunk make this much more practical.
My family has owned what is now my 2001 Camry since it was new. You know what has needed fixing? A clutch. Because it wore out. 4 sets of brakes, a clutch, and oil every 3000 miles. But hey, my b that I spend next to nothing on maintenance since we still have "Infinite Oil Changes" from the dealer.

No. Driving at 65 for 110 miles.

Bah. I wish I had the torque of the V6. Over 60 my economy drops a bit
Same here, but even at 60 I was amazed at what kind of gas mileage I was doing.

I filled up and left to go to the only city that has a go-kart track in my state. When I got back to my hometown I filled up again.

110.7 miles in just over 2 gallons. I was amazed. Great little car.
