Hmm... I don't think that much of this Passat. It hardly sets my car radar on fire, and most examples in my country are just worn-out, diesel-powered whips that are driven by people who just like to be dull in every aspect of their life. It's a reliable and competent car, yes, I won't deny that. But it's hardly exciting, although the V6 engines are a cool touch.

I'll just stick to a meh.

I'd take a W8 estate in a boring colour. But the car is wallpaper.

Uncool.

Quite like the face-lift they gave this. The W8 version always did sound appealing for what was an otherwise dull model.

Too bad they have about as much charisma as a Mitsubishi Carisma. Which is probably what sparked a sudden surge in tastelessly modified examples around here.

Uncool.

The visual definition of meh. You know cartoon car outlines 3 year olds draw? They're styled off this.

Drier than an Australian summer.

P.S: It's certainly super-meh, but definitely not seriously uncool. If you saw one of these pull up beside you, it would be as invisible as a Toyota Camry.

A pink Hummer H2, fart-can Civic, fully-sick Commodore or a P-plater in a BMW, on the other hand, are going to make you headpalm the steering wheel.

The W8 does nothing.

This is beige with a side order of beige and a beige soda. Order the W8, and you've got beige for dessert. Sugar free, but not fat free.

Want excitement in the Passat? Then you'll want the 1.8T.

Yes, big repair bills can be exciting.

Compared to the mark IV Golf this thing felt like a goddamn Rolls-Royce. Also they're everywhere and they're all diesels.

Like the Rolls, there was also a LWB version of the Passat. And yet even when it became the template for diesel taxis all across Europe, it was nothing short of Superb.

You probably couldn't fit all it's greatness on an A4 piece of paper.

It's not seriously uncool but it's also not even close to cool. It's not that sporty as is so it gets an uncool.

I kind of like VW's.... of all the major manufacturers, I'd put them highest up on the cool wall to start I think. But without calling out the W8 specifically, this still just merits a meh.
