Honestly, I almost bought one and still kinda want to if it wasn't for all the hiccups.

The premium fuel thing, bad transmission and the fact that a used Porsche Boxster/911 would have been cheaper to insure.

Right now I'm considering selling my Sonata Hybrid, since I got so much off on it that right now models with more KMs are selling for just above the price I bought it for and buying myself a 1999 Legacy GT Wagon for $6k. Need to do more research first.
 
Cool. Perfect for busy cities and you can park them just about anywhere. The click-n-change body panels were an achingly trendy feature at the time, still quite cool imo.
 
This is the worst thing Mercedes Benz has made....It's the ******** version of the A-Class we didn't ask for.

The only cool thing that stands out to me is their dealerships when they were first released:

The original idea to be launched by Swatch would've been cool. Their watches are cool, their brand is cool. I'm not sure smart could ever be cool, but these first gen models are as close to it as they got.

Meh, I suppose.
