Has rally credentials, that's really cool. Being driven by idiots (a fair amount of the time), most ticketed car in the U.S., and has stupid insurance costs because of idiots crashing them brings it down.

Going with an Uncool here. Wouldn't pass up the chance to own one though.

Not as much of a pratmobile as the first gen*, but a pratmobile nonetheless. Uncool.

*Predominantly non-STi WRX models around here.

They burn oil from the factory. Driven by young idiots. Not racecar. Uncool. The people who own them think they are rare or something special. They are not that cool.

Insurance isnt bad on these. I drive a 2011 sti and come in as a single male age 33, doesnt cost much at all.

Naturally I voted sz.:sly:

By far the best looking generation of the wrx's, regardless of the stereotype I'd take one of these over a brand new one. Sz.

Driven primarily by young boy racers who think it's the greatest thing to ever hit the streets.

Seriously uncool.

I personally like them though.

Still somewhat good looking, and over here they are not driven by young idiots because they are truly rare and expensive and... well, not a VAG product. Most of the guys that drive these actually give them good track use, I can't recall one of these that I know of that has never seen the Hermanos Rodriguez tarmac. The guys that own them are somewhat tools because well, they know their car is superior to most of the cars they regularly face when track driving. Looooooow cool, just because I really like that nose.

All the STI owners I've ever met have been extremely respectful and intelligent men. The STI's I've seen on the street have been driven responsibly as well. In my experience the "boy racers" and idiots gravitate to the WRX because they are cheaper, the STI seems to be stay in the hands of true enthusiasts and older gentleman who generally have more money.

My mother, aunt and uncle who are not car people by any means all think the STI is a very cool car, so it gets a cool from me.

Sub-Zero. On the right hands of a guy who appreciates japanese cars and make them into legendary rally kings or drift masters. However it's directly Seriously Uncool on the hands of a P.O.S ricer who thinks he's cool with a whipped ride.

On my case, I voted Sub-Zero because Subaru Impreza, is a legendary car. Only manual, and AWD? Not to mention teh visual of this thing remained pretty damn well.

Bonus points because it looks sexy dirty or in the snow. :D

Not as uncool as the Lancer Evolution, but that's about as low of a bar as can be set in the douchenozzles car category.

Seriously uncool.

Power/torque figures are almost certainly not right in the OP - they read like the last-gen's WRX ones by the end of it's run, not the STI (which was hitting that 280ps quote before this facelift).

Not that any of that matters. Or how badly I wanted this growing up, to the point of emailing the local dealer when this finally made its way into Canada, just to get as much info as possible. Regardless of Solberg's abilities back then, this is an Uncool car out on the road.

Wow, the poll reaults are really spread.
Due to it's rarity and value idiots around here tend to settle on a WRX; It's a monster at motorsport with a long running pedigree and It manages to look aggressive but without over selling itself.

Oh and gold wheels. Sub Zero.

I really like this car. The flat engine is awesome, the wheels look good, the rally pedigree is good. I'd definitely take one over an Evo.

But is it cool?

No. It's a Subaru.

Seriously Uncool. Although I would want to drive one.

Spoilers aren't cool

Not just that, gold wheels, stickers, scoop and that blue colour. If you want people to look at your can on the street you go for WRX STI and the people who own them here know that. Seriously uncool.

Not that it stops me wanting one.

Let's pretend the douche bag stereotype doesn't exist.

It's still a sedan with stickers, a hood scoop, rally lights, and a huge wing.

Seriously uncool on soooo many levels.
Hood scoop is actully 100% required if you saw where the intake is though.

Seriously uncool for functional scoop and optional paint/wheel combo. D-dag owners make it a bmw or audi... May as well be a supercar.
Would still love to drive.

Owner enjoys driving like

Meh on balance between it being a great car with rally pedigree, but not yet old enough to avoid being held accountable for what Zenith said.

Imprezas aren't cool, despite being awesome. Also, only the first gen was handsome in my opinion.

Seriously Uncool
