Engines:
4.0L Supercharged V8 (Lexus 1UZ-FE)
Power: 436 hp
Torque: 424 lb-ft.
Weight: 1180 kg
Transmission: 5-speed manual, 4-speed automatic
Drivetrain: Front engine, rear wheel drive
Body Styles: 2-door convertible, 2-door coupe
Additional Info: "A low-volume Australian-made supercar made to look like a wide-bodied MX-5.

Originally Bullet Cars used a 13B rotary and 5-speed gearbox from the Series 4 RX-7 and planted it in a spaceframe chassis with the mostly-untouched NA Mazda MX-5 body surrounding it. Due to its major success they developed a V8 model using a TVR-sourced Rover 4.6L V8, and when they became of short supply they moved to the Lexus 1UZ-FE V8 as seen in the Soarer (SC400) and LS400.

In 2003 the Bullet Roadster became the first low-volume Australian-built vehicle to comply with Australian Design Rules and therefore was able to be sold as a bona-fide production car. The Lexus V8 was fully stripped and re-engineered to comply with ADR emissions; in naturally aspirated form the Roadster is capable of 0-100km/h in 5 seconds and revs to 7800rpm, but the real hero is the Roadster SS, with a Sprintex supercharger increasing power to 320kW and torque to 575Nm. The SS was capable of a 12-second quarter mile and 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The drivetrain was strengthened including a heavy-duty clutch and limited-slip differential, brakes were upgraded to 4-pot Brembos, and the body was made using carbon-composites and fibreglass over a new, lightweight spaceframe that exceeded the required torsional rigidity specifications by double."

It's just a modified Miata. The Miata is uncool on it's own but this is seriously uncool.

It's an awesome concept in theory, but it's most certainly not the prettiest of cars, and this is indeed one of those cars that you'd have to explain what it is and why it isn't actually an MX-5.

Cool for the performance, Seriously Uncool for the looks, rounds out to an Uncool.

On the plus side though, the silver ones have some sleeper appeal at least, as do the older Bullets not polled that looked even more like a boggo MX-5.

Look an impressive performance car, no doubt it is fast.

But you've basically wrecked a very reasonable sports car - the Mazda MX-5.

It's seriously uncool, look at those headlights, yuk!

If someone had built this in their shed/garage (minus the terrible body kit/wheels/paint) for peanuts, it would be sub zero.

Unfortunately, that's not what happened.

Light masks and brows are the work of Satan. No mater how cool the rest of the car is (and thanks to the tacky bodywork, this isn't) I still would have voted Seriously Uncool by default.

Looks like an awful lot of work and money to build something to have probably the same performance that some guy with an engine lift, an NB Miata and a junked Camaro could do over a couple of weekends.

Brilliantly nutty.

The deepest fathoms of uncoolness, rock bottom SU.

At first I thought what's not to like? But shoehorning all that powah into an MX-5 in many ways negates its simple, fun weekend track car chops, leaving this as pretty much a very fast hairdressers car. I still voted Cool, but already on reflection, think I should have gone for Meh. So if anyone wants to vote a grade lower to even things out, feel free :)

The rotary-powered version mentioned in the Additional Info would be awesome. The V8 version doesn't really interest me that much though. And the looks are a little overdone.

On sale: an orange seriously uncool MX-5 looking roadster, also available in less obnoxious, but still seriously uncool silver.
