Why does it even matter? The thing can still blow the doors off pretty much anything you'll ever encounter on the street.

People's perception of speed these days is so bland. I remember when 350hp was unheard of. Granted, I was young, but still. This generation is spoiled.

I guess I've just always been somebody who favors going faster with less weight than going faster with more power. :)

Granted, I do drive a mustang. But I've always thought that the "fast" cars are the ones that fly in the corners as much as they do on the straights.

So no, I'm not spoiled by saying it's slow with "only 707 HP". Maybe just spoiled from having driven an Exige once :) wow..
 
More often than not, at least in my experience, most people don't track their cars, or hit corners doing 120mph on the street. They want to be able to light them up, have brutal acceleration and laugh doing it. Straight line speed is the most commonly and available racing. When someone wants to race they usually do a 100mph pull somewhere. At least thats how it works the way I know.
 
Too brash, too fat both aesthetically and in terms of actual mass, and a poster child for the bench-racers that just care about winning internet fights arguing about "HP/$".

Indeed. A car that does sixty-under-four is, by absolutely no stretch of the definition, "sluggish".

Stability and refinement at speed are what makes a good autobahn car, not neccessarily the highest top speed.
 
Cars like this (and I include the M5/E63/RS6) are just utterly pointless.

To big/heavy to be sports cars, and no good as GT cars as less comfortable than the standard versions due to stiffer suspension to cope with the power and rubbish range due to rubbish fuel consumption.

The only people who think they are cool are kids too young to afford/drive them, who get a stiffy off the power output and performance claims :lol:

The car is Meh for me, and it is simple to why I vote this way. It has reasons why it can be completely cool such as pissing off people that already find American creations like this over the top because it's simply American. Or how it's a car that has no reason to even be in a Sedan form (like the various other sport/super sedans), yet easily fits a family of five and gets the groceries while still having the ability to go 200mph and not costing the amount you'd spend on a Bentley or Aston (though they arguably look better). The fact that it does stand up to that crowd makes it cool as any budget super car does in this case...yet there are reasons why it is SU.

The pointless subjectivity can go the other way into a realm of just stop, you've now become quite annoying. When Merc or Cadillac or Jag or BMW do this...they do it with style and don't become tacky. They build fast sedans that are equally pointless at the end of the day (and more expensive sadly), but handle and look better inside and out. Though I will give credit to Dodge for making the Charger of current look like a good car. The fact that people will use this as a banner to shout out how America is better than the rest is highly uncool as it would be when Europeans do it with their cars. Also the fact that you now have a dual electric engine car that seems to squash the hopes and dreams of turbo or supercharged V8 monster Sedans makes this more uncool than the others due to it having more power (not perfect sound logic but yeah...)

In the end it gets a meh from me because I can't be fully one or the other and while both sides intrigue me they balance out to the point where I just don't care either way.

A cringe-worthy name like that is enough to send it straight to SU. Even before you take anything else into consideration.

The world would have been long bored of 200mph saloons by how if the Germans didn't have their 155 mph gentlemans agreement.

Well i've driven the current F10 M5 and with the Dynamic suspension what your saying is completely false.
 
Meh. While the power will have all of the magazines going gaga, I cannot really say I would want to buy a porky sedan with all of that power.
 
Wasn't there a big fuss over the Lotus Carlton and its 345hp? "Too powerful for the public" they said.

I love lightweight cars as well, but I can appreciate how much fun this must be. The fact that they built it at all makes it SZ in my book.

I was in the car scene since I was born. I remember hearing things back then.
 
Was going to go with Meh, as regardless of performance figures I'm really not crazy about the modern generation of US muscle cars, but then I saw the $64k price tag, and it immediately got promoted to a cool, and I mellowed to it a bit more. I mean holy moses I know cars are less expensive over there but $64k for that is indeed a steal.

Try learning it before trying to make your self sound like you have above average intelligence.
 
Given the Bentley has much less power and is much heavier, i think it would be demolished in every way possible, only top speed it's close to the mark. and that is likely to do with drag and gearing.

I was talking about the sluggish part, which for a car of 700hp is not exactly the word to use.

Comparing a 200hp Lotus Eise to this is still very moronic power to weight wise.
 
Part of me thinks it's kind of cool on a shouty sort of way, but it's just too much willy-waving for me.
 
I don't really care about straight line speed, I want a car that I can take down a twisty mountain road without having to write my will beforehand. SU.

You do have to be careful if you're using all 707 hp, though. This can corner, but not when you give it all the beans. It doesn't have quite the same handling prowless as a new Mustang and such.

Solid axles can handle. The Boss 302 proved that.

It might be old and outdated but it doesn't plow into corners like the old ones do.

And arguably, I'd have more fun with a car that can't corner because it would be a challenge to make it corner.

Well, that last part might be true, but cars of today simply won't be built the same way. Safety laws and such have forced cars to handle in a safe manner, and avoid any dangerous handling behaviour as much as possible. Obviously, old cars still exist for that thrill of taming a wild beast, but new ones need to be careful, lest the brands want to get bashed by the common voices for being unsafe (for both the driver and the environment). There is a reason why the traction control became an obligatory option on USA cars...
