Additional Information: The latest flagship sedan and wagon variants from the Scandinavian safety experts at Volvo. Based on a modular chassis and 2.0L forced induction 4-cylinders as debuted in the XC90 SUV, the S/V90 promise a true Swedish alternative to the German executive class rivals from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The new Volvo has all sorts of state-of-the-art safety and entertainment packages, and then you come to the gloriously over-complicated T8 "Twin-Engine" variant (as debuted on the XC90 and to be released early 2017), a 400hp plug-in hybrid that can be front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive depending on what motor's doing the driving and promises very lofty economy ratings.

I love the sleek, no-frills styling of these two. It's very elegant, it already looks to be timeless, and that appears to transfer to the interior, as well. Bonus points for having a wagon.

That put's it at a cool for me already.

Volvo? Oh heck yeah, Swedish engineering for the win.

Here's a high cool.

It can come with 400 horsepower?

Sub-zero.

From some angles it actually looks suspiciously like a Jaguar. It's actually quite amazing that between the old S/V60, the new XC90 and now this pair, that Volvo of all brands has now become a stylish and almost premium-feeling product line compared to the Germans.

Very Cool cars.

I like it. Looks great, but since it's not a typical Volvo(boxy and practical and is trying to be "premium" instead of a "every mans car", it's just cool.

But since I own 2 old Volvos, I might be kind of biased  ;)

Volvos haven't been boxy since I was 5 years old. Practical I will grant you, but I remember reading articles from 2003 criticising Volvos for being boxy, and the same stereotype still follows them despite their best efforts.

@Beeblebrox237 and the only one of those that looks good is the C70.

Well, cars used to be better back then @WeThePeople . Without all of the drive-aids and crap that are in all of the new cars. Back in the day, when people could actually DRIVE, and didn't want to be a passenger in their own cars, so that they could put on their makeup or something else completely irrelevant from driving.

The 850/early S70 was boxy-ish. But I'm talking more about the great old Volvos. Like the 145, 245, 745 and the 945. Practical, durable and cheap (relatively)

But hey! You don't have to agree with me. You are entitled to your own opinion, and I can't force you to be right.

Probably a very nice alternative to the Germans, but lordy is it boring.

Meh.

When we did our country exclusive feature on the car, I spent a good several minutes on my hands and knees looking underneath at the transverse leaf spring suspension that allows Volvo to stick the rear seat deep between the ultra narrow shock towers. Lovely piece of tech.

Very nice car. Interior full of naked wood, baby-soft leather and the biggest touchscreen I've ever seen. Great looks, great silhouette, decent driving dynamics... amazing package for the price.

But seriously, a four cylinder T8? Leave the stupidity to the Germans, please. Call it a T4+4 or something.

Oh, no vote. Think it's nice, but too soon to call.

400 Horsepower from a 4-cylinder. Besides the Mitsubishi Evo FQ-400, I can't think of any other mass-market cars with that sort of power out of just 4-cylinders.

It also looks good. The run-of-the mill variants get a Meh from me but that T8 raises it to a solid Cool.

Volvo cool? No. Even their buses and trucks are cooler.

Just try it out - "So, what do you drive at the moment?" "A Volv... oh, want am I thinking?"

See, just doesn't work. The last cool Volvo was the 740 and that was only because of the boxy turn madness and the BTCC version.
